The hospital I was at with my son.. their nicu is called CICN critical intensive care unit. They allowed us to be hands on with feedings, diaper changes. Then we went down the hall .. where babies go before they get discharged. I loved the cicn nurses more there than the room down the hallway. When we were in the cardiac intensive care unit on a whole other floor- that whole team & floor.. amazing people! Love them! ♥️
On the cardiac floor.. I saw 2 codes happen but nurses would close doors & curtain until things were clear. Bathroom too- had to walk by rooms. I also miss the hospital! I’m sorry you had to see awful things 🥺 a lot of this world has no idea.
We just left our NICU and now in ITU. NICU was open rooms with curtains to separate us. Our room was directly next to the oh shit room where they brought the worst cases. We have seen so many babies pass away. One of which was my high school friends twin son that was in the room next to us. He was fine the day before then he just wasn’t…the trauma has been AWFUL, and things I will NEVER forget. However, our nurses have been amazing and encouraged me to be apart of allllllll of his care. Which thank goodness for it. The ITU is a closed off room with bathroom, couch and real walls and doors and the nurses only come by if an alarm is going on for a long time that you didn’t have a chance to address. I love it though - it has given me a chance to feel the most “normal” I’ve felt with my son in 8 months. Yesterday I got to rock him in a nice rocking chair with a tv playing in the background. He napped on me for 3 hours. 🩵
Do you have friends that can come over at least once a week to come hang out with you? Mamas mental health even with a kiddo that isn’t medically complex is priority. Hopefully they hear this episode and start paying you more visits.

Ours was a bunch of incubators together in an open room. We didn't have our own room.
