I remember saying to myself when I started watching Medici that Francis was a great great grandson of Lorenzo and Clarice and how high the Medicis rose to marry into royalty. When I saw Toby in Medici I was like you havent been born yet....lol

What has happened to the fact that the middle child, Giovanni was distinguished by his white-blonde hair?
He was know as " Piero the Unhappy " or " Piero the Unlucky " and he wasn't stupid, he was selfish and full of himself

He was further known as Piero the Unfortunate, which carries a somewhat different implication to simply being "unlucky".
The implication is that Fortune did not bless him with those characteristics needed to succeed i.e. intelligence.
It was because Lorenzo realised that Piero was lacking, and was not the sort of heir that a father would want, that he put Giovanni, who was clever, into the church, and succeeded in getting him rapidly promoted to Bishop and then Cardinal. Lorenzo felt that Giovanni would be able to take care of the interests of the family.
