Nice rundown. I really liked Batch 1 of 10 Year and really liked Batch 1 of the 12 Year. Being a proof hound I did swap a backup of 12 Year for an early Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend. I went and snagged a Peerless Double Oak SiB and Double Oak Rye after watching your videos on them!
I hear the early Joseph Magnus cigar blends are good but ive only had the later ones that just are not worth it anymore to me. Those Peerless double oaks are the truth though love those bottles. I drank all my DO rye need to find another on the lookout for a pick of it
@@bourbonbill I'm the most stoked for the Peerless haha! Glad I've found another palate that likes alot of bold flavors. I'm with you on the Magnus, this was batch 89, the Barton shift had happened already but the lowest age was 14 years still. Maybe I can attempt to get you a sample 😁
@@CoffeeAndSteelif you like the finishing on the cigar batch try that Seelbachs 10yr bull run finished in cognac my buddy said it beats both batches he has. I’m always up for samples shoot me an email bourbonandbill@gmail.com
I have last year’s, so I’m not looking for neither unless it’s retail. I’ve heard the 10 B3 is the best of all the 10s and better than this year’s 12. All hear say unless I get some 😂. Thanks BB.
@@C_H_1972haha this is the best JD10 for sure I’m not sure it beats this years 12 but heck we will see later as they open up if I can find a bottle of the JD10
Nice review BB. I have JD 12 batches 1 and 2. I have JD 10 batch 2. I went to pick up JD 10 batch 3 from a liquor store buddy, and to my surprise and delight, it was batch 1. Would buy batch 3 if I find it around MSRP. I really like 1792 Twelve Year. I have 2 bottles of it. Knob Creek 12 is almost a perfect bourbon. 🥃
True KC12 is killer love that bottle. And you lucked out batch 1 of JD10 was 750ml you got a better deal vs the 700ml bottles now haha. If you find more than 1 batch 3 10yr let me know
I mean I hate secondary pricing but it’s really good JD I liked batch 1 over batch 2 so if you gotta spend that much try and get batch 1 of the 12. Maybe you can trade too which would put your true cost lower but I’d say 150ish I’m a buyer
@bourbonbill I do too, but this is the world we live in. If MSRP was higher, maybe it would still be accessible. Garrison Bros. Stuff like Balmorehea, lady bird, and cowboy bourbon have a very high msrp, but if they were priced like JD special releases, maybe their secondary pricing would be a lot higher than the $200 msrp. Pa dropped the JD12 online and I missed it by an hour. I haven't paid secondary for anything yet, but it's either sit online all day all week hoping you can get a bottle at msrp or pay secondary and not waste all that time. I appreciate the candid response. It sounds like it's really good, but not mind-blowing better to spend more than $150. I also find that the more I pay for a bottle, the higher the expectation, and usually doesn't live up to the cost. I'm not rich, so i can't ignore the value of the juice vs price.
@@Best_Served_Neat_On_Ice I preferred the JD 10. Unfortunately, I’m somewhat banana blind. The only whiskey I’ve ever gotten banana on was Old Forrester Statesman.
Good Lord that was a good review! Thank you for not holding back your emotions. Makes it a pleasure to watch and get truly excited about these bottles, especially now that you're not drinking from the bottle like a pirate! ;) I'm thrilled that I was able to get this JD10 at MSRP. Picking it up from the store tomorrow. Between you and Matt (ADHD) singing its praises, I'm extra excited about my purchase. Cheers.
Ok, so glad I stumbled upon the JD10 at msrp then. I was hunting for the 12 at my local store and they had just barely sold out but had the last 10 yr; guess I didn’t leave a loser. I’m enjoying it very much so; getting all this oaky chocolate fudge goodness from it.
You came out a winner sir. While I prefer the 12 a lot of people are liking the 10 over the 12 this year either way the 10 batch 3 is way better than the previous 2 batches so you win
You had said here that you picked up tobacco on the JD10 B3. Any idea what *kind* of tobacco it was? Pipe tobacco? Cigar tobacco? Or nothing that specific?
I’d have to try it again later tonight to get more specific but it wasn’t the most overpowering note here just some sweet tobacco notes that I usually get with older well aged bourbons sometimes it’s leather and if it’s not leather it usually has some sweet tobacco to it
YES!!! Shake those hands!!! (A Veeerrrrryyyyy special intro 😂) Awesome comparisons. I'm still missing the JD 10yr batch 3, but I do have a JD 12yr batch 2 secured just waiting to take possession. Wish I didn't have to go out of state for JD LE's, but CA sucks (in more ways than one lol)
Just ordered a couple bottles of the Bull Run from Seelbach's, looking forward to that. In theory, the JD10b3 is slightly cheaper (by msrp) but I was lucky to grab one for 150, when others I've seen in NY are in the 200-250 range.

Getting a Jack 12 at msrp is near impossible. I see it on secondary for about $230. Would you say it is worth $230? I really do like the Jack SBBP.

I just got a 1792 12 year and it’s very enjoyable. I also got the single barrel and a Full Proof store pick
What do you think of the 1792 single barrel? I never had a desire to find one I have the full proof and the 12yr and feel like I got 1792 covered haha

Which did you like better: the JD10 B3 or the 1792 12?
Pick up any banana on the JD palate?

Haha hey my pirate side may come out again and great pickup at msrp these are truly great bottles of JD
Batch 3 is the only Jack 10 I’ve been able to get. It’s light, sweet fruity deliciousness. Great review.
That’s the one to get it’s a lot better than last years. I know you’ll enjoy it

Yeah haha i need that JD10 myself so good
I don't think you need to cut the sipping and swallowing footage. Let it run. We'd like to see you processing the pallette the same as the nose.
I try to cut these videos down a lot of them go long lol
Interesting how we all find different flavors. I actually thought JD10b2 slightly outperformed JD10b3. Both are delicious though!
That is interesting. But yeah every palate is different and let’s be honest both are good it’s just a scale of how good lol
@-Drank,
What did you like about the Batch 2 over the Batch 3?
@bethereagainproductions6534 I thought it had a bit more lingering oak. Both batches are great, but that made the Batch 2 stand a step above to me.

Good snag on the bull run you’ll love it and yeah likely it’s cheaper in terms of actually finding one to buy
Last year you had said, regarding the JD 10 Batch *2* , that you'd pay 120 for it, 100 easily. What would you pay for the JD10 Batch *3* ?
I’d pay about 150 for it
