Dr Hope's Sick Notes fun fact: Lamborghini offered to be the car that Dr. Strange crashes, even though brands usually don’t want to be associated with high speed accidents that ruin people’s lives. The reason given is “the accident should have been fatal, but it wasn’t.”
DR. Hope's Sick Notes FUN FACT: The burst fracture mentioned at 8:19 is referencing IRON MAN 2 when villain/antagonist Justin Hammer fails to make a knock-off Iron Man armor suit. The suit goes haywire, twisting in half during a test run and severely injures the test pilot!
Dr. Hope. could you do review on Team Medical Dragon? Its a japanese medical drama about Dr. Asada Ryutaro, a genius surgeon who formed a surgeon team to tackle difficult surgeries.
Fun fact: at the end of the theatrical release of Doctor Strage there was a PSA about "Don't text and drive". Making the running gag about the warnings come after the spells come full circle.
As soon as he broke down that all of the complex terms are basically combinations of words to a certain body part, it became so much easier to have a general idea of what they're talking about.
Itis = Inflammation Hepat = Liver Hepatitis = Liver Inflammation It all works like that, my partner did nursing and she told me that it's pretty much just combining words so you don't have to learn a million different terms, only a few hundred.
Before going into EMS i used to think the same... how do these people remember all these huge and random ass words. Took EMT classes and found that it really isn’t TOO big of a deal. Yes it may take some remembering but it really isn’t a huge deal now

The reason the defibrillator brought him back alive Immediately is because it wasn’t a normal cardiac arrest, it was because he flying kicked him and he passed out in the astroplane, and all the defibrillator did was give him enough energy to wake back up in the astroplane.

I really love that the burst fracture thing was a callback to one of the Ironman movies, where you actually see a guy in a exo-suit, get his torso fully rotated 180°. It's the subtle things that make all the MCU movies good
@@nikkiofthevalley Late, but the scene is in Iron Man 2; when Stark's brought to court and they show footage of various exo-suits that have been attempted in response to the Iron Man.
@@icatfishedyourdad2767I think that it could be interpreted either way, but the guy in Iron Man 2 makes more sense to me - if it was Rhodey, then they’d probably say that he was one of the Avengers. And I feel like the implication is that the first half of this movie takes place over a long period - he has his accident, spends several months trying everything to get his hands fixed, and then trains at Kamar-Taj for a few years before fighting with Caecilius. So the Iron Man 2 guy makes sense with the timeline - the movie begins in early phase 1 and catches up with the rest of the MCU by the end.
Someone who worked on the movie here with some interesting facts - We actually visited various hospitals around London, and even watched an actual brain surgery take place which was a bit life changing. We also had real surgeons on set while shooting all the hospital scenes just in case we messed up real bad! Thanks for the cool video, great to see we didn't get it too wrong... just a few artistic licences taken here and there :)

That "35 years old Air Force colonel who crushed his lower spine" is Colonel James Rhodes also known as War Machine. Edit: For those who were confused, the reason this piqued my interest is "Air Force colonel" James Rhodes is an air force lieutenant colonel, although i don't know his age. The one in hammer industry representation is unknown for both reasons. "Experimental Armor/suit" Although both are experimental, Hammer iron armor is barely working and doesn't count as a functional one. "Crushed his lower spine" Tony said his injury went from L4 through S1 meaning his injury went from your lower spine down to your hip bone which is reasonable if Billy said "Lower Spine". That hammer industry representation guy would have screwed his entire spine That is what i think most interesting. I put this here so you wont have to bother reading my explanation comment.
Alde Ambara Sakti no that’s wrong...Stephen became sorcerer supreme before the avengers even formed and rhody basically broke his back in Civil war which takes place after the first avengers and in that scene Stephen still hasn’t become sorcerer supreme so........

@@KiffJRockka ...depicting surgery. He's not criticising the movie, he's criticising the real-life accuracy of the medical scenes within the movie. What may seem "nitpicky" ordinarily become massive and glaring flaws in a surgical context.
On the bullet thing... Guns are my thing, and they used the wrong bullet shape in the movie. A bullet with a pointy nose like that is, broadly, a "spitzer" bullet, which is a shape used almost exclusively in high velocity rifles. It's definitely a rifle bullet given its size compared to the victim's head, and a larger caliber one like a 7.62mm, too. The thing is, bare lead doesn't work well at high velocities. The pressure behind the lead will cut the lead, and the softness of the lead (even if you alloy it and/or water quench it) will leave a lot of lead behind in your rifled barrel. There are ways to mitigate that, but to make a long story short; almost every single one of these bullets is "jacketed". The lead core is covered in another metal, usually copper that's been punched out of a sheet. Sometimes other metals like steel that's copper plated, cupro-nickel or brass. I guess someone could use a spitzer bullet in a low velocity loading; there are some applications out there, but really the sharp point is there for aerodynamics and isn't helpful below a certain point. But even that aside, if that pointed bullet went through someone's skull, if it was just a lead alloy, it would be all kind of deformed. Even with a thick jacket of a hard material, I'd expect to see some deformation in the image. Aaaand it looks like they pulled out a .22 caliber copper or brass solid bullet.
I would say knowing that much about guns implies having at the very least used one semi-professionally at some point, and that means having more of a life than me
kindof a combo question for those who are into bullets and medical personnel. Is this situation possible but they used a bullet that would be large enough and recognizable enough in shape for a general populace to understand the situation or is this one of those entertainment only, not fact based situations?
"Yeah, we all drive Lamborghini's" Well, and I am amazed that this needs to be pointed out, by necessity not all doctors are the worlds best in their field.

Frankly its amazing that in an informative reaction video about medical scenes you can't get over the 2 seconds of sarcasm.
I mean if you think about it he could be in the MCU but he isn't an established person You and I could also be in the MCU but again we aren't established characters
You look like Benedict Cumberbatch when you are looking at the screen, but when you look at the Camera, you look like Martin Freeman. You are the full Sherlock package.
I love how you break down what different terms mean and explain why something is realistic or unrealistic. Also. unlike other doctors/lawyers/etc who do similar videos, I love how at the end you say that you understand that it is just a movie and the elements, realistic or not, are just for the storyline
I absolutely love that you can appreciate the fact that it is a story after all, and that not everything that goes on in the ER, OR or elsewhere in the hospital is very entertaining from a story perspective. I also like how you break down the medical facts from the fiction, and the medical terms. I know pretty well how hectic things can be in the ER as my mom was an ER nurse for years, but not everyday would be "entertaining" even as a reality show. People tend to think it is always like that, but there are slow days and most of a nurse's or doctor's day that day would be spent just making the rounds and checking on patients, nothing most would want to watch lol. I applaud your open-mindedness and your professionalism. P.S. you know you got a Lambo in the garage of your beach villa in Vegas LOL
As soon as he laughed off a little mistake and said "theres wizards and sorcerers, ive gotta let some stuff go" i subscrubed. I love when professionals are able to analyse stuff like this without being so nitpicky.
Scott Derrickson who is the director of Doctor Strange did confirm that it is neither Rhodey nor the Hammertech suit man from Iron Man 2. Would have been a cool link but unfortunately not.
@@mrbones9196 It was Rhodie. Dr Strange took place during Civil War as they confirmed that in End Game. In 2012, the ancient one says hes 4 years too early for Strange.

The most confusing thing about this video was honestly that it took me 8 minutes to realise that „theatre“ meant the operating theatre, not the movie theatre
So educational! I am in anatomy and physiology and you helped me understand the vertebrae’s in the lumbar and sacrum! I was so confused about that. Thank you!
if I remember correctly, the choice to have him drive a Lamborghini was more one out of the fact that no car company wanted them to show their car getting destroyed in an accident. Lamborghini saw this as a way to show how safe their cars really are. kinda like them saying 'hey, if he can survive an accident that bad and not have any real life-threatening injuries to his head or torso, then those cars must be really safe'. Combine that with the fact that lots of kids watch marvel movies (the millionaires of tomorrow if you will) it was really a no-brainer for Lamborghini to let marvel destroy their car. even going as far as to donate 2 Huracans to use in their movie and letting the studio destroy one of them (if I remember correctly)

That "35 years old Air Force colonel who crushed his lower spine" is Colonel James Rhodes also known as War Machine.
Edit:
For those who were confused, the reason this piqued my interest is
"Air Force colonel"
James Rhodes is an air force lieutenant colonel, although i don't know his age. The one in hammer industry representation is unknown for both reasons.
"Experimental Armor/suit"
Although both are experimental, Hammer iron armor is barely working and doesn't count as a functional one.
"Crushed his lower spine"
Tony said his injury went from L4 through S1 meaning his injury went from your lower spine down to your hip bone which is reasonable if Billy said "Lower Spine". That hammer industry representation guy would have screwed his entire spine
That is what i think most interesting.

Aaaand it looks like they pulled out a .22 caliber copper or brass solid bullet.
you deserve more thumbs up for that comment
Damn
Plagiarism much. You copy pasted my comment before i wrote it. SORCERY!
