Stardew Valley's new farm looks massive and daunting at a first glance, but don’t fear, Lily is here with the Ultimate Guide to the Meadowlands Farm. The most important thing to know is that you start with a coop and 2 chickens!

I normally name my own chickens, but they were auto named Potato and Gravy. I couldn't change it. My next 2 I named Eggi and Omlete. 😂
That's so cute!
That's hilarious! My chickens were auto-named Polka and Dot.
mine were 'Roe' and 'Fishy' XD
Mine were Salt and Pepper 😭😭😭
I always give my animals food themed names, so this would be perfect.
In hindsight, this farm made sense. Some players like the animal-rearing side of farming more than the crop-growing side, so this makes it more doable for them.
I named my farm "Lucky Clover" and my intro chickens were auto-named "Lucky" and "Clover"!!!!
What a great name!
I sure hope the second one doesn't fall into a huge cave filled with monsters!
Me and my wife are gonna be playing 1.6 tonight for our first time. Thank you for this!
Hope you enjoy the new farm! 🌸
SOME MORE TIPS:
1). See that big green area south of the farmhouse that will not grow crops OR long grass? It makes for a perfect tapper tree area. If you put a 3x3 area around each tree, you can fit 3 trees tall by 7 trees wide. I put a 3x3 grid of Maple, Oak, and Pine trees there, and used the rest to grow Mahogany trees.
2). There's the initial chicken coop area, and that's fine, though I'd increase the pen size to include that small patch of yellow dirt just under the fence.
3). Further down from that is another large area of dirt near the pond. This is where the barn goes. Fence that off, put a barn just above the dirt area in the green grass.
4). The green area between the chicken fence and the barn fence? Fruit trees! There's enough room there to get 1 of each fruit tree.
5). Highly suggest the mushroom cave, as you'll start with a free dehydrator. Yes, mushrooms are now back to every-other day, but the dehydrator is awesome. Even Common Mushrooms sell for 500G when turned into dried mushrooms.
6). The spot just under the farm house is (almost) a perfect size for a grid of 6x4 quality sprinklers. Not sure how Iridium Sprinklers fit in there as I've not gotten that far yet. You'll end up one single square shy of the full 192 crops that 24 Q-Sprinklers would have (the road leading in from the right will take up 1 tillable spot). Put 1 scarecrow on each of the cardinal directions and you'll be covered.
7). The silos can fit up against the wall near the tapper tree area, tuck em in nice and neat, as there's nothing else you can really put there other than maybe more trees. Easily enough room for 3-4 silos.
Not sure noone is commenting how great this advice is. Thank you for the advice! If possible, could you get a screenshot of the layout?
@@jianyuloh20 I can try but youtube REALLY doesn't like links in comments, they frequently get auto-deleted.
With a small amount of micromanaging, you actually only need 1 silo; when it becomes full, go into a building where the hay needs to be refilled and you can take all of the hay out and put it in a chest. You can repeat this as many times as you want, and you can simply put the hay back in through the same place over winter if you get low.
@@Kee715 Assuming you don't upgrade your barn/silo to Level 3. Then you can't take hay out at all. This forces you to have a "dummy" coop just to take hay out of a silo with. I'd rather just, you know, build enough silos. They're only 3x3 and 1000g.
for tip 6 you can actually get 7x4 q sprinklers, yes you lose 4 spots in total but you can plant up to 220 plants in that area
Tip: you should save your carrots for food because they give so much energy and healt and they don’t even sell for much
its even more incentived to use fertilizer on them so it gives a lot more heatlh and energy
Great tip! I just found them mid month but did have fert by then so I'm sure they will be a good quality. I'm guessing we won't be able to buy them so I'm saving them so I can make more for the greenhouse.
Even better, feed one to your horse each day. It makes the horse run a little faster. Combine that with the triple espresso and a spicy eel on a day when the Statue of Blessings gives you a speed boost. It's great! 😂
Edited for spelling
@@hollieollie 🤣🤣🤣
@@hollieollie I've been feeding the horse the fish I get from the cat.
No one is talking about the bobber customization thats been added
Another tiny benefit to starting with the coop is more opportunity to get an early witch event for the void egg, which happened to me!
I had a helluva time finding the bridge to gramps shrine. Not only did I have trees completely blocking view of the bridge, there's multiple hardwood stumps blocking the other side. Still, kinda fun having robin build the silo in a spot I couldn't access yet. It's amazing how fast the farming xp comes with daily care of the chickens and egg harvests.
My animals in Stardevalley always get flower names: The chickens are Petunia and Pansy, my ducks Tulip and Daisy, my cows Buttercup and Snowdrop and so on 🐄🐇
I name alll of my cows after Devin Nunes but different variations. He's a fake farmer and and politician. I thought it appropriate.
I name my animals according to their type but in different languages. Cow = Vache, Mucca, Kuh, etc. Except for my chickens - the first three are always called Cocker, Doodle and Doo.
since there's 4 empty spaces in the farm selection section, i am gonna wonder if more farm types will be added in the future.
For any new farmers who don't go for the new farm, here are some tips.
1. After planting your parsnips and any other seeds you either brought or dug up, go and forage!
2. Make at least 2 chests. One for your resources and another for the community center if you go tjat route.
3. Fish, fish and fish! This will be a great money earner during your 1st spring.
4. After getting the special fertiliser from the spring crop bundle, use it on any strawberry seeds you managed to buy from the egg festival since this will allow you to get 2 harvests before the season is over.
5. Keep the leeks since George who is a villager loves them.
Tip: You don't need to build more than one silo! When your silo get full, just get hay from the hopper as usual. Extract all the hay and put it in a chest. Now, you can go back to harvesting grass and turning them to hay!
Can you put the hay back in the silo if you want?
@@Phoenix197 Yup! Just put it back through the hopper. Or going to the silo and putting the hay there works too
I cant believe how good is the new update
I'm enjoying the update. Thanks for streaming it!
More coming very soon, thanks for watching 💜
This farm is great for players wanting to romance Alex really early on. Eggs are a liked gift of his and having chickens from the get go makes it easy to start building a relationship. It makes it easier to see his 6 heart event in year 1 as well- I was a single day short the last time I romanced him.
One thing I noticed pretty quick is that once you can clear out the stuff just to the right of the coop, 2 Silos fit perfectly without blocking the path north.
On top of that, the Farmhouse fits on the blocked island by Grandpa's shrine real nice. This opens you up to use that tillable patch at the entrance for a couple barns.
I like the fact that fishing gives you some really nice food bonuses regularly. That and the fact that coal seems much more abundant and that ladders are easier to find make the early game much less stressful.
Does the blue grass turn purple in autumn?? Love that he found a way to incorporate some of the most loved aesthetics from the mod community. Gorgeous use of the space btw.

I’ve been in hospital for the last few weeks so I was going into this blindly. When I made this farm and got HAY instead of parsnips??? i nearly fainted
this reminded me my usual starting schedule doesn't work for this farm and a few other mistakes I was making.
Oh my gosh! I can’t wait to get the update!!!
Thank you for finally revealing what the blue grass has been doing. Been looking for that info since this came out.
I think the default names for the Meadowlands starter chickens are excellent.
I also noticed with this farm that there's new "short cliffs" like behind the coop and house. normally all the cliffs in this game are pretty tall.
My ducks are gonna love the water fall 😆
Lilyy knows best, great video!
no way. tea saplings are too valuable to use as fences in the early game
I put 3 silos behind the farm house, with all the grass I was able to fill them up very quickly. I am loving this new farm 🤩
My chickens were all ready named, Peachy and Mango 🤷♀️😂
i am naming my chickens shark and turbble!
I'm surprised I haven't seen this mentioned (or maybe I missed it 😅), but if you feed a carrot to your horse each day, it has a small speed boost for the day. Plus, the animation is super cute when the horse is facing left or right!
im loving this farm. about 200 crops in front of the house and
SO MANY ANIMALS
Great Video! My first chickens were named Lucky and Clover!
Excellent names for eggcellent chickens
The carrots are insane for energy. That's what I ended up using them for.
Hey can you make some good ideas for my farm I got rid of it all using mega bombs and I don’t know what to do❤😂
can someone please tell me where her accent is from?
It comes out of her mouth
I got some carrot seeds while digging around and LOST MY MIND
Lol I was like "let's goo!"
Lol love the new crop!
Great video! Adorable game!
Thanks for watching 🌸
My first chicken's are always call Coo and Caw.
Can't wait for the update to come to Switch.
That would be coo 🐔
Pro-tip: Move your house closer to the watering hole so you can refill your watering can faster. Or just fill it up from the sink!
do you have any tips for where to place scarecrows for the new meadowlands farm?
Due to reduced formable tiles I would recommend planting only multiple harvest crops aside from what you need for the community center
I LOVE THIS VIDEOOS ❤❤❤
holy moly guacamole
So I heard there is a delay on the growing times on the new farm is that true?
About Fall and Winter Y1:
Fall -> Setup the Greenhouse and level up farming quickly to be able to craft Seed Maker for the Strawberries you grown in Summer and deploy their seeds into the Greenhouse.
Winter -> Greenhouse already provide the great amount of money so a little chunk of it can be used to buy a Barn once the Coop is upgraded to a maximum of Deluxe Coop and then buy a few Cows then later on sell half of the Cows and give space the other half of them into a new Barn. The Deluxe Barn originally built is for Pigs for their Truffle and those Truffle are for Truffle Oil from the Oil Maker Machine.
If we are good enough for Skull Cavern mid-game then we can stay with Coops only and level up to the profession of Coopmaster and get to Ginger Island with the help of efficient Iridium grabs from SC and finally get our hands on Ostrich Eggs.
These are excellent tips, thank you!
You can decorate the coop?
Yes! And I would highly recommend doing ASAP🌸
One of my chickens was named Portobello. So, I renamed the other one Button. Now I’m going to have to look up mushrooms.😁
lovely farm
This Meadowlands Farm seems to have also given the Standard farm a bit more a Crop focus. And my extension the Four Corners Farm. As an Agriculturalist myself these are better farms for me but I can definitely see the appeal to the Meadowlands farm and that bonus start with the coop. I think I'll only be playing this one with friends in multiplayer if they are the animal enthusiasts. I'll take that 20x11 farm square outside the house and do something productive with it. That's 220 crops I can grow with my custom written Crop Chart. And my friend get's the animal focus and the greenhouse for all the wheat ever not to mention all that grass to go through first. And I'd plant some wheat also to help out when Summer rolls around. And once ginger Island comes up I can move the entire Crop farm over there and contribute to the fishing more
I’ve seen Beans and Toast, and Piccolo and Viola. Mine were Polka and Dot.
Mine were auto named Beans and Toast, and I couldn't have named them better myself.
Sgt. Peep and Lt. Cluck
My chickens were named Chip and Dip and I HAD to keep those names
Mine werre salt and pepper, and I kept that theme with different seasonings and spices. Once I get other animals, i might stick to the food theme. Name all the cows after different herbs. Goats after different fruits. etc
I didn't realize the farm warp was there, and I hadn't cleared it. I got stuck and had to pass out there because I didn't have my ax LOL
So, if the blue grass for some reason over. Starting as a meadowland farmer will give me the blue grass recipe?
My favourite staedew vally player
If you are just a casual and not a minmaxer this farm is the perfect choice because you will not need that much farming space
As much as I like to joke about being able to drink mayonnaise in 1.6, it's so incredibly useful on the meadowlands farm! The early egg supply makes mayo so useful for powering through the mines.
hi lily
My meadowlands farm is going to be an artisan farm
One thing I've noticed on the Meadowlands farm is that the water source to fill up your watering can is farther away than normal, so definitely priotize getting sprinklers on that farm!
I actually like the river placement cause it reminds me to check on my coop when I can only water half my field. I think a well works real well too
Good point! This would make the well more useful as well for early game
Anyone know when console will see an update?
My chickens were name salt and pepper
Has anyone else found the moss yet?
My two chickens names were Twig and Petel
My chickens were named Lady and Princess at the start. Now, I have a bunch of egg-laying medieval nobles.
Maybe this farm can be used for speedrun
So far the name cheat still works I started out with three item codes and they keep dropping for me helping me speed along in the gold area. I of course had to have some purple pants for the fun reactions from two certain NPCs 😂
I can’t wait for the update to come to consoles
Epic income woth the 2 chickens.. can get way more money at the start
Welcome to the MEADOWLANDS MF'R
My chickens are called Nugget and KFC
i sold grandpa's chickens right after they layed the first eggs. im fked up lol
How to download 1.6 in cellphone
Hey ezlilyy! I have been watching your channel for 1 year now and you have helped me so much! Thank you! I was wondering could I have a pin? If you don’t want to it’s ok! Love you!❤
Of course you can! Thanks for watching
@@ezlilyy your welcome thank you so much!
Have a nice day! And happy 1.6 update!🤍
I called my chickens Heidi and Closet after one of my favourite Drag Queens Heidi N Closet
Am I the only one disappointed by the meadowlands farm after we got the feature packed, HUGE (and mega grassland-like) beach farm which already encouraged more animal farming? The new meadowlands farm IS beautiful, but the positions of EVERYTHING including the cave, tillable regions, and even the initial position of the farmhouse seem very awkward when compared to the other farms. The area close to the initial farmhouse is VERY cramped compared to the other farms. Blue grass from day 1 by itself IS nice, (yes, you get nearly 3 seasons a year of autopetters worth of function out of it, if you farm JUST the blue grass and let your animals out every day.), but I was looking for a multifeatured farm like the beach farm as the new thing. As a reminder, the beach farm offers foraging, crates, and EMMENSE space for buildings and animals, ALL while being the ONLY farm where you can fish up ocean catches without going to the ocean! Starting with blue grass plus coop and 2 chickens is nice, but fails to compare for me. There was a HUGE amount of speculation talk about a swamp/bayou farm. I would very humbly ask CA if he could just patch in a few extra concept farm layouts. I have played at least 8 seasons on ALL the layouts so far.
Ya know my chinckes were named squash and cucumber next i gotta zuchini
I really like your voice
Thank you💜
My chickens will be Flora and Fauna edit: The blue Chicken will be named Sky, Void chicken Night, Gold chicken Sunshine. Cows Cloud and Dust white and brown respectively. Sheep Snow and Fog. Pigs will be Flower and Rose, goats Daisy and Dandelion. My Ostrich will be Moon and Storm.
May they bring your farm great success !
named my chickens achilles and patroclus because im reading song of achilles 🥺
My beginning chicks had stupid names Eggy and Ollie. So I renamed them Olivia and Elsa 😊
Me still waiting for the 1.7 update
Chicken names? Benny and Lenny. Sonic and Tails. Adam and Steve. Hank and Good Hank
I named them Pen and Paper
Mine are called Celia Cruz and Cruza Celiaca
lol
Named my chickens Clanne and Framme after fire emblem twins
Omelet and scrambled
My two chickens I started out with were beans and toast 😂
A tip that I only figured out recently: since the soil on the Meadowlands farm is supposedly not as good for crops, I highly recommend keeping all of the sap you get from chopping down trees and killing slimes in the mines so you can turn it into quality fertilizer before Pierre even starts offering fertilizers at his shop! That way, you can complete your quality crops bundles faster and make more money by selling better quality crops!
Side note: I like to name my animals after animals I had growing up. I had chickens as a kid and I almost always name my first brown chicken Honey in honor of my brown chicken of the same name that we had back then. We also had cows and I like to name my cows Daisy, Tulip, and Clover after my girls. AND I named my new black cat Runt after my black cat that passed a few years ago.
Meadowlands soil is identical to every other tillable soil. The description says it's not great for crops because there are very few good spots for nice big fields of crops, only about two or three imo. Plus, you have to choose whether to dedicate a tillable space for animals feeding on the special blue grass, or crops.
my wish is
swamp farm
cave farm
dungeon farm
I choose meadow land and found that it's not really good idea for speed run player. X _ X
This map looks the best, but damn... the lack of crop area is so dissapointing.
Ginger Island is better for crops anyway. You can also make greenhouses out of sheds via flowerpots and deluxe retaining fertilizer.
I mean there’s plenty of farms with a lot of crop area already
Avarage Kentucky citizen farm
