Hopefully, we can continue to thinker and push and see if there are some new types of games that will be a hit in the gaming community. Baseball is pretty saturated but I continue to be driven to make the best mousetrap. Basketball and Football are the holy grail to me. I'm trying to develop full, play-by-play games that can be played with dice in under an hour and give you all the flavor of longer games. I'll keep working it until something emerges. My most watched videos are when new games are introduced. I think there is a hunger/curiosity within the community for the new and not just the games of the past. As a designer I would love to see more media outlets that focus on the hobby and not just the replays. Game news, new games, etc. I love what you've done over the past two years with a more journalistic look at designers. That's super helpful to just be able to talk about process, history, methodology, philosophy, etc. Creating a game is about creating an experience for the gamer. That requires some conviction about how and where the player should go on the journey from start to finish. Footprint, components, game guides, design, rules, etc. all come from a foundation that the game designer brings to the table. Like any maker the product usually starts with, "I really wish there was x product." But behind that statement is philosophy or belief that drives that statement. It's rarely cold, hard capitalism or opportunity that drives the question. So each designer has that within them (I believe). In think there will always be a place for sports strategies and strategy games. Sports fans seem to want to participate in thinking through the game more, not less. To me, that bodes well for digital and tabletop games. Or maybe a third category? Digital tabletop games 🤔
