You nailed it!... “it just makes you want to move and dance around” and makes you “happy.” You captured the essence of this song! This was from back in the day when I would go to dances at my small college. Was calling it a night this one time, already 50 feet outside the building, when even through the closed windows I heard this song come on... and I just HAD to turn around and go back in and dance! Really a fun joyous song, my personal favorite of theirs.
I have never seen this video before, it must have been made for American audiences. The original British video has nothing to do with American sports. If you watch it you will see Dire Straits in concert and scenes from a London underground station.
My mom was not a rock fan by any stretch of the imagination, but she absolutely loved the music video to this song. Sadly, she passed in February of 2012, but hearing this song always makes me smile as I recall how she would laugh at the video.😊
This is one of my favorite songs of all time I just got me a new 45 because I wore my original copy the hell out lol 😂 Thank you reacting to it 🔥💣❤️ My dad used to bump it too he had the Album Brothers in arms ❤️❤️❤️
"I gotta bucket and a brush" and Mark Knopfler wold be able to make a groovy catchy hit out of it is literally the best description of DIre Straits ever. Sending lots of love from Prague, Europe.
His brother David left the band years before. The bass player is John Illsley, one of the original founding members. The other guitar player is Jack Sonni.
I absolutely love this song. I love the song, the music, the sports bloopers in the background, I love how much fun the band is having, jamming and dancing with each other. Most of all, I love the freeze frame of Mark Knopfler at the end of the video: that smile....he looks completely content. Best Picture Ever.
This video was made for American audiences, I suppose. The original British Dire Straits video shows scenes of them playing and of a London underground station.
This is not the original video of this song. In the original British version you see Dire Straits in concert and scenes from a station of the London underground.
This was their biggest hit, from the brilliant Brothers In Arms album. The old woman clapping hands in the one scene in this video was a legend in my hometown of San Antonio. She had a front row season ticket at San Antonio Spurs games at the old HemisFair Arena for years. We all called her "Granny Spur"!
@@p.millard557 NOOO....THIS is the video I remember back in the day!! (and we lived in the UK)....I just LOVED❤❤❤ this video at the time - so deliciously memorable - and I never like to watch any other video of the song....
@@p.millard557 But I lived in the UK - I only ever saw the American Football video on the TV.....and I'm glad I DID!! A happy memory during a rather dark period of my early adolescence 😔.....
Walk of life is my favorite song from them. But you also have to listen to "So Far Away from Me", "Money for Nothing", "the Sultans of swing"( great solo 🎸 guitar)and "Romeo and Juliette"
I find Dire Straits relaxes me which is perhaps strange but I get lost in their music. Terry and I listen to one of their live shows here on TH-cam if we are unsettled and want to sleep, it works everytime lil. You're right about getting us and dancing, I can't sit still to this and I love the video of the sports blunders, they make me laugh. God bless you and keep you safe everyone love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
Some other Dire Strait tracks to hear include Your Latest Trick, Tunnel of Love, Private Investigations. Also, try some Mike Oldfield, Sentinel Live at Edinburgh Castle.
This isn’t the video I remember. The one I remember had the band playing outside, and a guy in a subway with the guitar case open trying to make money… Like the song says in the lyrics
Gona name drop! I went to Gosforth High School wth Mark Knopflers bro David & we were once an item! He did initially play in his Bro Marks band Dire Straits but left early before they got huge ( he went to uni!!!!)
Everything Dire Straits has done is good, but the track that I find has the most atmosphere is one of their slower numbers "Private Investigations". It is I think their masterpiece.
Slightly removed from Dire Straights, but Knopfler did a fantastic song with James Taylor, called "Going to Philadelphia," delves a little into British-American history and is just a gorgeous song besides. Maybe someone who hasn't heard it yet will check it out!
Glad you liked this. A lot of music.. eh.. snobs, I guess you could say, think this was the low point for Dire Straits, but I think this song is a ton of fun. Just good vibes off it.
This song started the Sports Bloopers craze in the 80s.
Did not know that...
lol
"So Far Away" by them is so underrated, also "Lady Writer", keep up the great work Jayvee!
Love "so far away".
@@jimbo_crawdaddy such a chill song right??
Love “so far away!”
so far away. sooo good
Jay, that's how I feel about the bee gees. They can sing the phone book and I will dance to it.💞💞💞🤣🤣🤣
LMAOOOO 🤣🤣
Mark Knopfler is a guitar god.
Radomir Točak from band SMAK also !
Like Peter Gabriel’s album So, Brothers inArms by Dire Straits is an album where every song is good.
So true. Two magnificent albums.

I love how an 80s British band was so in tune with American culture then!
All American sports! No rugby, no soccer.
Really good insight!
I have never seen this video before, it must have been made for American audiences. The original British video has nothing to do with American sports. If you watch it you will see Dire Straits in concert and scenes from a London underground station.
I like that video too. too bad there's no good quality video version on youtube.
It’s hard to believe they were a British band.
There is a joy in this song and video we don't see much any more. The boy can indeed play!
There's a great little hidden gem from Dire Straights called "Skateaway". I highly recommend it.
Awesome song
Already kno it.....its great
Got to see Dire Straits in Concert, still one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
My mom was not a rock fan by any stretch of the imagination, but she absolutely loved the music video to this song.
Sadly, she passed in February of 2012, but hearing this song always makes me smile as I recall how she would laugh at the video.😊
Twistin' By the Pool and Industrial Disease are great too!
I have never heard a Dire Straits song I didn't like. Awesome band!
Dire Straits are ALWAYS happy when playing, just incredible guys, ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!!!!!!
Dire Straits are great. You should definitely check out Romeo & Juliet, Private Investigations and Telegraph Road.
Tout les albums des dire straits sont magnifiques.. Making movies.. Communiqué.. Brother in arms etc .. Love this band 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 pour tes choix
My favorite song by them is Romeo and Juliet.
Yes. And Skateaway...
This is one of my favorite songs of all time I just got me a new 45 because I wore my original copy the hell out lol 😂 Thank you reacting to it 🔥💣❤️ My dad used to bump it too he had the Album Brothers in arms ❤️❤️❤️
I agree... this is such a fun, contagious song! I love it! Brings back happy memories to me.
That just part of the walk of life-fall down , get up and brush it off and keep going- 💛✌️✨
"I gotta bucket and a brush" and Mark Knopfler wold be able to make a groovy catchy hit out of it is literally the best description of DIre Straits ever. Sending lots of love from Prague, Europe.
Of all their songs this is the coolest of all. Good pick sweetie💕💕💕
This song and Free Falling are the 2 songs bring me back to a little kid in the early 90s hearing this in the car with my parents
Hey Jay, you like old school jams? Your excitement is contagious. Keep bringing them , so entertaining.
“Brothers In Arms” Dive Straits
I second this
I third this!
Dive strait in! 🤣
If I'm not mistaken the guy playing to the left of Mark is his brother David. They founded the band together.
His brother David left the band years before. The bass player is John Illsley, one of the original founding members. The other guitar player is Jack Sonni.
Thanks for the info.
Smiling from ear to ear. This song just makes me happy!! 😁
This song reminds of good times in junior high
Toooootally forgot about this song and video!! Great reaction! Super fun to hear this again. 🤩
The synth sounds so nostalgic, reminds me of my time in school in the football team😭
Excellent reaction! I love seeing young people discovering and appreciating new/old music 🤜🤟🇨🇦
Bee bop a loo la, baby what I say.......I loved watching & listening to them in the 80's!! Just fabulous!!
I absolutely love this song. I love the song, the music, the sports bloopers in the background, I love how much fun the band is having, jamming and dancing with each other. I remember as a kid, instead of saying “walk of life”, I totally used to think they were saying “waffle iron” 😂
Great reaction, thanks! Such a great band. Romeo and Juliet is another great song!
Love DIRE STRAITS! Just hilarioius to see all the crazy players, love it!!
I love the sports bloopers mixed in. Always made me laugh😅
I've always wondered why a British band did a video with American sports, but I suppose the US market has always been important for a rock group.
@@snakelite61 I was a sophomore in high school when it came out, so I never really thought about it, I just had fun😅
I was 8 years old when I first hear this song. I still love it.
One of the best music videos ever made.....great song too!!!!
Chillin with a 🍺 after work. Looking forward to all of this evening’s selected music.
Great song. Great group. Mark Knopfler great guitarist
I remember this and it is good!
Such a catchy tune. Great band!
All the fumbling and misses became catches and victories and reaching your goal and glory. Walk of life...
Great song, the heyday of sports too, no politics, just a lot of great athletes and a lot of fun!
This is not the original video of this song. In the original British version you see Dire Straits in concert and scenes from a station of the London underground.
Ahhh, you're getting deep into some of our greatest treasures, Dire Straits is one of them. So happy for you
Great song, fun video
I LOVE this song. Always makes me want to dance.
in these times. More Dire Straits
Skate Away aka Roller Girl.
Great Great song of chill life.

It's been stuck in my head for over 30 years.
Love this song!
Such an awesome song!!
The best part of my day, watching Jayveetv!!! ☮️
Can't go wrong with this classic!
Great reaction! Check out "Down at the Waterline' from the first album for some classic Knopfler guitar pickin'!
A similar upbeat song by them is “Twistin’ by the Pool.”
This was their biggest hit, from the brilliant Brothers In Arms album. The old woman clapping hands in the one scene in this video was a legend in my hometown of San Antonio. Walk of life is my favorite song from them. But you also have to listen to "So Far Away from Me", "Money for Nothing", "the Sultans of swing"( great solo 🎸 guitar)and "Romeo and Juliette"
Dire Straits concerts always had the BEST energy! Just like Bob Seger. Great bands both!

Telegraph Road - excellent live, one of Knopflers best
Please try their songs Romeo & Juliet and Telegraph Road.
Ooooh Telegraph Road.
Jovaughn, you’re right, you HAVE to move to this song!
Some other Dire Strait tracks to hear include Your Latest Trick, Tunnel of Love, Private Investigations. Also, try some Mike Oldfield, Sentinel Live at Edinburgh Castle.

That one'll make you pat your foot, right there, now!
The sports clips were funny! Dire Staits is one of my favs. Great fun J!
I bet Bobby Hurley is loving the free publicity.
That was fun. Your wall is missing the Brothers In Arms album cover.
Listen to On Every Street. Amazing track x
Gona name drop! I went to Gosforth High School wth Mark Knopflers bro David & we were once an item! He did initially play in his Bro Marks band Dire Straits but left early before they got huge ( he went to uni!!!!)
I love this video, thanks for covering it :-)
Brilliant song. x
Come for Dire Straits, stay for that absurdly beautiful MJ double-clutch dunk towards the end of the video.
Everything Dire Straits has done is good, but the track that I find has the most atmosphere is one of their slower numbers "Private Investigations". It is I think their masterpiece.
Even though these athletes stumbled Dire Staits still played homage to them, and they're Brits! We are all doing the walk of life!!!!!
Never heard before.. But its catchy.. 💚💛🖤
Its a very happy going song
check out their entire album comminique, you are gonna LOVE the pure knopfler and straits
Did you watch what I watched ? Love this song and the bloopers so funny.
This song is always such a pick-me-up :) . For a mellower vibe ......... *Romeo and Juliet* or *Skateaway*
Check out “Boom Like That” by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.
Slightly removed from Dire Straights, but Knopfler did a fantastic song with James Taylor, called "Going to Philadelphia," delves a little into British-American history and is just a gorgeous song besides. Maybe someone who hasn't heard it yet will check it out!
Enjoyed! Always one of my favs. Takes me back to my childhood.
Thanks Jay 😊
Woo Hoo!
You Do The Knopf Of Life!
Skateaway must be your next one.. it always had me feeling a way!🎸🎶🎸
