Respect to the artist. He is giving a show to everyone who came. On the other side the dude with the phone, you had two jobs, sit and and turn off your phone. If you are a doctor, put it at least on vibration. How hard can it be, you also managed to dress yourself, drive to the concert and find your seat.
I used to record choral performances and it seems like inevitably someone would be sitting within three feet of one of the mics coughing up a lung or two. You can almost count on this kind of stuff. I saw one world class classical pianist on a YT video that started a concert, and the sustain pedal was stuck on. How in the heck does THAT happen???? She was funny. She explained the problem, asked for a new piano, and then said, hmmm, what can we do with this while we wait. A joy to watch The piano was moved to the stage lift, with her still playing while it was moved as she was lowered down, out of sight. Sh then came back up on the lift playing the replacement piano. I can't remember who the artist was, but IIRC she had an accent, a pretty one. I'm pretty sure you could find it on YT with a search, as that is where I saw it. I wonder how many times that story has been told over the years by those in attendance. And I wondered if she got as much of a kick out of it as the audience did, or if it was a 40 gauge, bring me my brown pants moment. This is a real issue in classical music today. I am a professional classical performer and frequent concerts, every concert now a phone goes off. Hate to say it but it’s mostly older people because they don’t know how to silence their smart phones. Either that or they don’t care enough to try.
