The binaural effect is best with headphones, because it comes very close to simulating actually being there. If you can't do that, then I suggest a decent pair of bookshelf speakers on either side of your bed, pointing more or less at your head. Suggestion: Dayton Audio B652 AIR speakers and a LePai mini amplifier. Decent sound for not a lot of cash.
