It's crazy to watch this documentary today and now seeing 17 years later: dos Santos is no longer in power, basically living in exile in Spain. Isabel dos Santos' bank accounts have been frozen and her half brother is now in prison. The winner from this documentary is Rafael Marques who managed to avoid being purged by the previous regime.

Yes but at the end of the day there are still people in Angola dying due the lack of food , portable water and their cost of living is just too high. The money that those corrupts stole from Angola ain’t coming back is it ? F*ck MPLA

rafael marques speaks for the oprressed. may god preserve him. i would say mozambique is presently like angola before the boom in 2005, unfortunately the mozambican rulers have shot themslves in the foot through over borrowing. angola and mozambique have a great future if they have a simple sembalnance of the rule of law.

I’ve seen corruption in Angola in 1982 from both sides … why ??? … because both sides are all about power, money and sex … even if both sides vehemently deny corruption … all of us workers generally kept our head down and kept our mouths shut so we could get paid to support our families !!!

Angola is possibly the richest country on earth. Not only in oil yet its people live in abject poverty. Castro was making money suppling conscripts to guard American oil installations while at the same time the Reagan administration were paying Unita to operate. All the blood diamonds went through Zambia and then to Antwerp or Tel aviv.
Who made money selling all these landmines I wonder?

Who made money on the sale of those land mines ??? … both the FNLA (CIA backed rebels of Jonas Savimbi ) and the Communist MPLA mined all over Angola … the Cuban’s and Russian’s interest was there in 1982 when I was there but , the Russians didn’t have the technology to extract the sulphur at that time from the offshore oil … Gulf Oil developed the oil industry in partnership with the Angolan Government … and today , China gets the “lion’s share” of Angola’s oil export … not America … Communists helping other Communists … I’ve seen the corruption first hand from both sides of Government !!!
