In this beginner guitar lesson, rockabilly expert Jinx Jones will introduce you to signature licks, solos and chords of the musical style. Rockabilly comes from a time in which music had a big swing feel which was necessary for the dancers who wished to "dance to the bop", and has a kind of hillbilly approach to playing swing that gives it its own special rhythm. Let's try this in the key of E over standard 12-bar blues changes.

Thanks man !
So glad to hear it!
I'm in an Elvis cover band as a rhythm guitarist. I need to learn that.
never mind the Lesson, which is great, butyour demeanor and overall attitude is out of this world. So calm and collective.Fantastic Lesson. And yes,i often come across drummers and other musicians who say rockabilly and 50's rock is easy………….until they try it!!!
Thanks for checking out the lesson.
Great lesson! I followed this to the letter and was playing Rockabilly in five minutes!
I'm so chuffed I know I’ll be twanging this riff a lot this week! Thank you!
I love REAL rock n' roll and I emphasis the roll part.
Great lesson man! Rockabilly still rules. Greetings from Spain!
Really Nice guitar lesson! It is fun one when it all comes together.❤
Glad you like it!
Thanks you guys! Thanks for explaining it all the way you did.
Jinx Jones!? I remember seeing Jinx Jones and the Jaguars in Denver some 35 years ago!
I can dig it man!!! Way cool lesson and ultra hip tone!!! Absolutely beautiful tone!!! Ty for posting this
Rockabilly music and guitar is very cool Brian setzer is one of the best guitar players in the world that ever lived and i would invite anyone who plays guitar to play some Brian setzer stuff and then tell me that Rockabilly is easy to play !!!
Nice tutorial and thanks for sharing!
I'm new to the genre, so it will take me a bit of time to catch up to the tempo.
I notice there's a transition note between each chord change. A nice way to fill the gap and keep the swing. I might try to fingerpick my way through this.
Damn, that falcon sounds so good.
One of our favorite guitars, ever!
Great lesson! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much. I've been finding going from blues to 'country' a bit baffling. All it really took was dropping the note one fret from 7th to 6th.. lol
Great lesson, great progression.
Thanks for checking it out!
Excellent thanks a bunch !!!
Glad it helped!
You are a god amongst men !!
I'll implement this in my practice 😎🤟✨️ thx brother
Anytime! Glad it was helpful.

I've been looking for some good rockabilly guitar lessons and this one is the best so far. Is this a Scotty Moore piece?
If you are still looking for good rockabilly lessons, try Randy Richter rockabilly lessons he does a lot of free ones on utube & paid for downloads which are more comprehensive he also plays with his band in Germany but speaks perfect English and his stuff sounds really like he was born in Memphis as so realistic
best of luck mate.
WOW YOUR THE BEST!!!
yo quiero aprender a tocar ese estilo de musica, porque aqui en mexico casi nadie sabe tocar esos ritmos .
Rockabilly is very hard to play I'm 67ys and write and play and this is my first time even attempting it I play Folsom Prison solo inc and noticed that this sounds the same only picking out individual notes using open chords which I strum adding 4ths etc..I know what I mean..ha ha many thanks for the lesson I wrote it in a tab form I created and will spend time with it and then move on to the next part..now should I buy a Gretch or use my Hagstrom or Strat..ha ha
Very cool 👍👍
Hi Jinx,

Thank you !!!!
Sounds beautifull
Thank you so much Don!
I read somewhere that Les Paul said you don't use the Bigsby at all until the end of the song so you can re-tune between songs.
I believe it.
will it go out just giving the chord a little shake?
This guitar must be more expensive than my apartment!!!! I really apreciate this style of music!!! Excellent video.
Gretsch white falcon here in switzerland its around 3’000 swiss francs
"This place is bigger than our apartment! Are all these your guitars??"
Love the tutorial. Want more. Where do I get them? The link doesn't exactly put me where I want to be.

GRETSCH WHITE FALCON!
Close ups of the left hand would be sweet.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Can follow the e and a chord but getting confused with the b7 can you put it in tab please
Check out any chord on our guitar chord chart - www.guitartricks.com/chords
Boy that gretsch sounds wonderfull
Sure does!
Really nice!
Thanks Clarke!
Not a beginner guitar lesson, You have to know the cord positions already.
it sounds great man
Thanks!
Love it!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Great video
Thanks Gus!
What amp is being used? Love the sound!
Awesome. What type of effect pedals are you using. I play a Gretsch G7594G White Falcon & G6120 Nashville thru a TC Electronics Flashback X4 & SolidGoldFX Surf Rider 3 Reverb and don’t quite get the sounds you do.
Engraçado..eu aprendo mais com quem não fala minha língua, do que com que fala.. incrível.
Beginner to music theory: "Dadada that's just three chords blablabla"
Intermediate music theory: "Ah I see multiple extensions of those chords and middle voicing movement as well as chore melody with a mid western swing, nice touches"
Hi,What delay is you using? Thank you.
is there certain scales to learn that is benafical for rockabilly like the E F & D scales. Do you have any littature on rockabilly for sale really wanting to learn. thanks Les
Great. Thanks. It is true: camera angles are not the best
Thanks for letting us know! We appreciate the feedback.
1:22 what is that chord???
First position E chord
cool
yoU are helping me, but i didnt anderstand al tings you now because i am from NorWay!
live kaslegard Hello, Norway :)
Anyone have a link to a similar backing track?
The chord at the end... C#m7add3?
I think it's a B 9
b9 or b7 up an octave i think
Defo a B9, first the root note a b, the 3rd d# the 7th an a, the 9th a c# and the 5th a f#
E9. Played on top four strings. Low to high: X X 12 11 12 12
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Punch anyone in the face that says Rockabilly is too easy to play. Then have them take a listen at some Jim Heath, Brian Setzer or Darrell Higham.
rockabillylaker Lol yeahhh, no. Buts it's true, Rockabilly pickin' is amazingly hard. Fast country runs, jazz licks, travis picking and hints of bluegrass thrown over a jazzed up blues chords. Lol it's pretty tricky to nail. Guys like Carl Perkins, Cliff Gallup and Grady Martin were pure geniuses to pull off that type of stuff...They've always been my inspiration...maybe one day I'll be good as them lol😀
rockabillylaker Yeah, Setzer and Higham too..
Anyone that thinks music quality has anything to do with its difficulty is not a music lover.
Setzer is king!
no
At 0:49 I thought you broke your guitar😂😂
where can I find lessons 1 & 2?
Part 2 is here: th-cam.com/video/Z4u5skRD16M/w-d-xo.html
less words and more tabs!!! so it would be much easier and quicker!!!
Too simple is good for me because I don't play complex things.
Rock on!
Whzt a pro
Thank you!
Holy shit this is for beginners?😟
👍 😃
perfekt guitar toturial, 3 camera angels, and all are useless
The 9
Il y a des cours en Français please?
Would love the tabs please
👏👏👏🤙✌️🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🔊
🤘
I love your stuff man! I started my own rockabilly instructional series. If you get the chance to check it out I would truly appreciate it!
I hear traveling music
Thanks for tuning in!
Camera position is all wrong on this - can't see what you are playing as chords. Should be a direct view, so not that helpful! Sorry!!
Thanks for the feedback!
Get rid of your head and close up on the fret board.
The camera angle aghhh
Let us know how we can improve!
It‘s great, but not eeeesay
It's not. But with practice it comes
Great player, but he says some outright incorrect things here in this tutorial. His instruction leaves a lot to be desired.
I see nothing.. Sorry
Great lesson! Thanks so much!
Glad it helped!
Great stuff and easy explanation. Thanks!
