On one hand, the Nein will be the only ones with a dedicated healer. On the other, Grog and wild-shaped Keyleth can really soak up damage. Not sure if Yasha's whole "can't die while raging" thing will be allowed.

Taliesin has actually talked about this! He's said on Talks that Percy knew that inventing the gun would inevitably lead to many deaths when the technology spread, and that this was a deal he was prepared to make to kill the Briarwoods... He wanted to play the person that knew how deadly their invention was and made it anyway
I miss Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein, although the Dalen's Closet one shot was the perfect ending for VM, not sure if I want them to continue again past that for a long while.
For those of yall who say that its stacked in Mighty Nein's favor. I will say that they played strategically well. I recently played in a pvp that was a 3v13 all lvl 20 characters, the whole premise being that it was what we believed to be the 3 strongest characters in both of the campaigns we've played vs the rest. And I was on the team of 3. And our team won so hard that 2 of us didnt take any damage, and the 3rd didnt go below half health. But the only reason why we won was because we had a solid plan that we worked on and tweaked literally for 2 months in advance, and the only ways to break our strategy were obscure spells that arent usually used in combat, or spells that would be used not for their main purpose. All that to say that with enough strategizing and planning, it doesnt matter how much the odds are stacked against a team, it's still possible to win, and I think the Mighty Nein only had a slight edge in terms of raw strength, but what really won them the battle was their strategy
See at the time I thought that Vox Machina had a bit of an unfair advantage with just the sheer amount of magical items Matt gave out in the first campaign. I was happy to see the MN win but I guess that’s because I started on the second campaign and am only 40 episodes into the first campaign.

Basically, the Mighty Nein were better optimized to be powerhouses for an Actual Play series from the get-go, while Vox Machina were casual unoptimized characters made for a home-game. Mighty Nein had great strategy, optimized characters, and recency of play; Vox Machina had nostalgia, in-world lore, and great gear. As much love and bias I have for Vox Machina, they were gonna struggle no matter what.

Caduceus Caleb and Yasha vs Grog Vex and Keyleth with Veth/Taryon as a wildcard would be awesome. Yasha and Grog are literally too angry to die, decent healing from Keyleth and ranged support from Vex while Caleb and Caduceus unleash their most powerful spells. Also i dont think VM encountered Graviturgy and Chronorgy so caleb has that big ace too

On paper VM absolutely outclass the MN based on their gear: scanlans horn, vax's dagger, vax's boots, pikes armor compared to the singular vestige of the MN. The MN just recognized these disparities and played around them while VM simply didnt adapt.

I actually like the fact that she's a cleric with a high strength stat. She used that strength in ways that others wouldn't have thought of like breaking the gate in the sewers and whatnot. If I remember correctly I think Laura joked about Jester being so strong because she was constantly moving art supplies around which makes sense. Easels, large canvases, and paint cans aren't light.
I really want to see the opposite of this fight. Give me Grog, Keyleth, and Vex vs Yasha, Caduces, and Caleb, and have Sam alternate between Veth and Darington. It would be so dope if Grog and Yasha got the same in initiative, so they can synchronize an "I WOULD LIKE TO RAGE!!"
Please let this be made into an episode or movie or special on the Amazon Prime show. Seems like a great introduction and Segway to a Mighty Nein spinoff.
Caleb can banish both grog and keyleth because both have pretty low charisma... and while the rest destroy vex, i'm pretty sure is a easy win for the nein.

Get her to dead but raging then do any number of situation. 1 have her be the last one up and just stay out of her range if she falls out of rage without a heal she dies. Kill her then banish her. 3 kill hold person. 4 plane shift. 5 kill restrain spell (less likely)

I mean, Yasha alone is gonna be a nightmare, but throw in cat's Ire, Earthen Grasp, Disintegrate from Caleb plus Caduceus for healing and tacking vulnerability onto people. Grog and Keyleth are gonna be the biggest threats from VM, but Grog can just be polymorphed by either Caleb or Caduceus. While Keyleth's spells could just be yoinked by Counterspell. She also wouldn't be able to cast most spells while shifted since she wouldn't be an archdruid for this fight. What Id be most interested in seeing is how the dynamic between Veth hiding and Vex's monstrous passive perception play out.
@@TheGerdakaBM her Rage doesn't end unless she is incapacitated or chooses to end it thanks to Persistent Rage so just staying out of range doesn't work. As for Plane Shift, Hold Person and restraining spells, the only ones who can cast those are Keyleth and maybe Taryon (I'm not sure about the Artificer spell list). If only Keyleth can cast them, then Caleb can Counterspell her all the live long day since the only other magical persons on this half of VM are Vex and Taryon, two utility and buff casters, with Vex focusing on attacking mostly. Finally, Keyleth does not have access to Banishment, and I'm pretty sure Taryon doesn't either.
Look, I wanted to enjoy this so much, but I'm solidly in the camp of this was SO stacked in the M9's favor that it made me not really enjoy it. If Percy hadn't stayed solidly on the field the majority of the time, VM would've been done almost immediately. You've got two utility characters and a distance fighter against a broken monk, a Vestige-wielding Paladin, and a wildcard Cleric...not the most balanced. The biggest foul to me was Laura metagaming Vax's boots. Jester would have had NO IDEA that the boots were a magic item since she didn't see them activated and specifically targeting a Dispel at them SEVERELY nerfed Vax for the entire battle. Must still be salty Liam carried them to Vax's grave instead of giving them to Vex, haha. Okay, now that my rant is over, I can go back to enjoying these make believe characters doing their make believe things. Hopefully I'll get more enjoyment out of Round 2 if (when) it happens.

To be fair Fjord rolling a natural 17 to Resist Scanlan’s domination spell was huge. It’s the nature of pvp dnd that it’s very swingy, since the game is NOT MEANT for pvp! It ends up being all or nothing

I waited so long for Scanlan to be part of a proper PvP battle and he got gimped in the first half hour. Heartbreaking, couldn't watch the rest of it
Scanlan provided many laughs later in the episode with ghost antics and limericks
