Honestly...the whole thing with the "bringing back Square4 and making it mainstream" bass trend That's going on in this comp drags it down so much...I've never seen something that became popular but boring and annoying so quickly. There are some bangers from Marcix, Chibs, Beutnoise, Dyatic, ECRAZE, Graphyt, BAW and NRVE, but the rest of it doesn't work.
You should definitely check out Beastboi's new Album. It is stellar.
EDIT: This entire comp has grown on me a ton within the month tbf. It sounds great to me now, same as my opinion on the square 4 trend

This comp had too many song that sound similar so everything gets boring as hell after the third time hearing the same thing over and over but just a tiny bit different.

I absolutely love the potential that disciple has, but it is so disappointing sometimes seeing one of the biggest dubstep labels fall so flat so much. I will always keep up with what they are putting out, but labels like reinelex and halcyon definitely take priority for me and I wish that they had the views and funding that disciple has.

to answer your question for producers. when it comes to one of these big comps i feel like it's best to hit a middle ground on how much work you put in since you want to stand out but also not waste your best music on a compilation where you might get overlooked. i have never been asked to be on a disciple comp tho so take it with a grain of salt

i think you genuinely may be my favorite reviewer i've ever watched in this sorta bass music niche, i genuinely don't think i've ever seen someone be this genuine and not over-the-top while also staying very entertaining.
i think the problem with a lot of reviewers both past and present is that they're either very analytical and genuine, or they sacrifice that to become entertaining, and there's not really any i've seen (that are still active at least) that do both. but you've managed to balance both of those things perfectly and i can't want to see your future reviews!!

23:30 yeah there's a specific name for it actually. The type bass sound design style is called square4 (riddim). For context Maelstrom(a reaper plugin) had a wavetable called square4 and its basically just 4 detuned square waves with the phase not having much random. It ended up getting used a lot in riddim in tandem with other effects. regardless, the rhythms you hear in these tracks are pretty much riddim dubstep(for the most part).
Personally, unless this type of sound design was done in a unique way I would like it but that's the thing- barely anyone is doing it different. The only especially good square4 riddim song I can think of is "Oolacile- Riddim Girl".

    My personal input...
    ---
    Gump Town:
I really enjoyed Marcix's track and the way I new the track was solid immediately, is because this track took advantage on the buildup and intro and did a good elevation towards the drop, onlike some of the songs on this LP where the buildup is nice but it falls flat the second the drop starts.
    ---
    Subterranean:
To play devils advocate, this is one of Sharks' last singles as he recently announced he's taking a hiatus due to overworking himself to the bone and experiencing burnout, so i do understand why this track doesnt shines as some of his previous releases have impacted the bass music scene...
    ---
    Plinko:
This track is one of the only tracks that disspointed me, because unlike other artists in this list, I was aware of the potential Resurge Had, listening to his self releases, his collab with Neddie being one of my picks for my top 100 on my public Spotify Playlist, and hearing him just putting ut a standard 4Square riddim track? it dissapointed me, because I was expecting more...
    ---
    Can't Deny:
This is Beutnoise we're talking about, This MF spits out Banging chunes like watermelon seeds. Its bouncy, its energetic, his style and sound has been solidified to the point where I can spot one of his ID's from a mile away and know its him. This dude has been on my radar around the same time i Discovered Beastboi, and im glad both of them are getting the love they deserve.
    ---
    toop:
Loompaskette is what i like to call an Anti-bass artist, where his production is top notch but his sound and flow is the complete opposite of what youd expect, in DC terms, He makes Bizzaro World Riddim

Nice and fair review! Great to see a confident and honest man who doesn't give a sh*t about pussies who get offended by a negative feedback! Agreed pretty much to everything what you've said. And you definitely have to try listening Sharks more. He temporarily quit the scene because of personal issues and released an LP called Viridescent Tears on SoundCloud. This EP can your introduce Sharks' capabilities pretty well. But me personally consider Water Elemental as his best EP. His singles are way better than EP's imho.
Enough yapping, great video once again! Hope to see you soon with another reaction/review, might as well do a collab with Sellout Reactions!

BAW is GOATED. He is my top producer atm. I def recommend checking out his Soundcloud Discography or even his Showcase Reve De Reves. His mixing/mastering is different but I believe it is to give a lofi/nostalgic effect. It feels raw and adds to the experience for me at least. I like it but I am def not a producer or sound engineer.

36:26 this is the dreaded square4 riddim, and it's just easy to make from what I surmise. Just fire up serum or vital or whatever, give a square wave some voices (can even use hyper in serum on a single voice) and do some wonky shit and you've got a banger pretty much. Pros: You can make anything halfway decent with a good flow. Cons: Sounds like literally every square4 riddim song ever made. Very few actually make me vibe which the 6 feet under was one of them, really liked the flow and percussion.

      @AlvoGTR 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@alfredpengy375 as much as im not a huge fan, square4 fucks when it hits. the square wave does a good job of filling the mix out without a lot of layers so you can really flesh the mix out without cluttering it with a bunch of bullshit, plus the square with some voices will eat all the distortion you throw at it. it's super fun to play with in the DAW but there's so much of it out there but it's super hard to make it stand out because a square wave is a square is a square wave.

    loved the video! :)
to answer your question about producing for compilations - in my experience, I feel like there’s less and less effort going into production these days. It’s a decent opportunity for exposure if you’re just starting, but even then you run the risk of getting buried under 30+ songs on the LP. If there was more of a focus on the individual, we would see a lot more creativity artist to artist.
It’s also worth mentioning that the label is the one pushing for something specific (even when you can’t tell LOL) and almost all major dubstep labels straight up refuse anything that’s risky or different. I can only think of one that really pushes anything forward thinking.
So the choice very quickly boil down to “make music for label to get following quickly” or “find out how the fuck to grow on your own and make music for you” 🥲

That sound that you don’t like and is in many of the songs is one of the most OG riddim sounds.
For instance it is the song called BLOCKZ by Subfiltronik, which is one of the most classic riddim songs ever.(I am pretty sure there are more dubstep artists out there who made a remix/edit of that song than those who did not lol) The sound is often just called Square4, which I believe is a wavetable from a synth in Reason in which you can very easily create this sound.
And yes it is very overused in my opinion as well, but if you are someone that generally enjoys these og type riddim tracks then you are just gonna go crazy if you hear that sound for the thousandths time as well. I personally believe that using square4 is forgivable unless you have at least one aspect of your song that is unique, like the flow, the sound design or something. For instance, if you are not familiar with it, there is a track called Firestorm by Samplifire, which uses this basic square4 lead in the drop, but the flow is really bouncy and his sound design is very very crunchy so it makes the song a huge banger even though it uses this overused sound.
    Also, great video🙌

I knew it tied back to some OG riddim, but never knew the full story! Thank you for the information! Glad I can now attach a name to it haha. I totally get how people could be into it and love when it makes an appearance, but it's just not for me.

My opinion…….. Dyatic & Rettchit plus Beutnoise definitely saves the compilations for sure. Cause, I think the knight of roundtable would’ve been dead. Just half songs. I guess the sharks Graphyt and also Trvcy songs are decent but uhh… idk there were some riddim songs that felt like it’s got some potential to be so interesting and in some cases shocking of course but yeah half songs in the whole compilation is exactly the same and no excitement especially compared to Vol 5. Hopefully the upcoming Vol 7 of kort is gotta be a huge improvement over vol 6 for sure. Like give us Teminite, give us Chime, give us Egzod, Nimda, Marauda, Wooli, Kompany, Bossfight, UBUR, Evilwave, Killin Void MrKoolTrix, Antima, Mazare Rival, Cadmium, Riot, all of these artists like them will have a perfect spotlight to be in the upcoming vol 7 and make it better ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
