Adrian Belew is simply one of the greatest guitarist of our time. There really is no comparison out there to his style, technique and talent. I personally feel that when he was with King Crimson... it was the best line up they ever had. He puts so much pasion and thought into his music and it shows! Thanks for the nice upload! :)
Adrian is one of the best. You do realize that, don´t you? Given the music, he´ll play it. Zappa took him on his first audition. Because he was skilled.
while ASIA is clearly more commercial, i feel that some of the tracks from those three KC albums could very well have been hits. i.e. - Heartbeat, Model Man, etc. maybe if the record company had done more promotion...
If you know how Adrian was discovered by Zappa ,then spent a year in the Zappa guest house while Frank & other band members tutored him how to play & understand avante gaurd type music you quickly appreciate how talented Adrian is,for Zappa to even think about mentoring a musician who cannot sight read music is unheard of,to my knowledge Adrian is the only guitar player Frank mentored,he only showed his son Dweezil 2 or 3 chords before having Steve Via teach Dweezil,Adrian most likely understands how Zappas mind worked with guitars better than any other guitarist of any era.
Frank had a handful of dudes that he would help out, under the table. I think the organ player on Zoot Allures was another band member that he would go over charts with after the rest of the band had left, I forget his name but he was a very gospel/groove oriented player that Frank believed in. Once again, Frank was one of the good ones...
Can't classify King Crimson with Genesis? Sure can, it's called "thinking man's music." It's not like comparing Earl Srcuggs to Cameo...Bill Bruford worked with Genesis...Peter Gabriel worked with Robert Fripp, AND Tony Levin, etc.
Adrian Belew seems like such an affable guy. It's rare to see someone with so much talent not be arrogant.
DavidFarAndWide I had heard that and that's what brought me here. I heard that back in 1981 and remembered it until this day.
Met him personally, I can confirm he’s a very nice guy, great storyteller and joker
AMAZING musician....I absolutely admire all his work with the crimson kings.

He really side stepped his obvious distaste for Asia in a very classy way. What a sweet guy.

"I don't work with the police." Ha!
The explanation was going nowhere... (This is a dangerous place.)

@maxziz So what other way is there for him to not have to haul seven tonnes of gear around the world, when he can have it all in one amp?
Specs are WAY too large dude!
The Guvnor!

No no
Adrian Belew, as gracious and genuine as ever. The host, cringey AF.
