A wonderful throw back to the days of my youth. Spending a few hours after high school in the cafe playing with my friends. Good times.

I have a smaller stash just like that. Sadly my Dragon and Dungeon magazines deteriorated in the garage over the decades. Have you noticed Dungeons and Dragons is back in department stores? Back in the day you'd be able to buy the basic or advanced box sets in K-mart or Woolworth. They stopped stocking them in the late 80s. D&D is back at Walmart. It surprised me when I saw the game there a few years ago.
I have to say that seeing the newer boxsets have escaped my notice. The next time I'm out and about I'll look for them. That's happened to some of my other magazines that I stored in the past sadly.
Very nice my two favourite modules were in the tomb of the lizard king and tomb of Martek. I had a number of the others too back in the day.
Those two were pretty good modules for play
15:46 OMG I have that map, I never played Greyhawk, but for some reason I remember I do have that map. I’m pretty sure I got it used from a used bookstore some time in the 90s.
We used the Greyhawk map a lot with our campaign settings
What a nostalgic video Rusty! I still have some of the modules you showed. We mostly played D&D rather than AD&D though. I also subscribed to Dragon magazine from the mid 80's though the early 90's and still have them all. I totally remember issue 100. Completely recognized most of the pages as you flipped through. Lots of great memories.... Thanks for the nostalgic trip my friend :)

Thank you for sharing! If you're bored up for content, a more thorough flip through of that GenCon booklet might be cool to see. And feel free to share any stories from that weekend as they come to it. I only attended 2009 and online last year, but still have the former's booklet for posterity's sake. My favorite memory of that one was attending a game design panel that featured both Reiner Knizia (euro designer extraordinaire) AND Matt Wilson (designer from Privateer Press), plus a couple others. It was GREAT.
I can do that flip through of the Gen Con book for you, maybe I can find the events that I attended 😉

Loved it. Sad you stopped playing this amazinggame - you put so much into it. You kept way better records than I did. We played more D&D than AD&D, so most of my collection of moduals is for that system. Oh, there is a company that - Dark Wizards, or something - that produces a full line of NEW AD&D moduals in the original style. They have it down right to the same cover and art style. I'll share their link with you when I find it.

RIP David Sutherland (2005) who did these great cover art illustrations. A Vietnam War Veteran - died young of liver failure - after a bitter divorce and a lack of work after his time with TRS. He was 56 yrs old.
@Jaggerbush Those are some classic covers and illustrations for the game. My aunt died the same way at 58 sadly, life doesn't always go our ways.

You play a lot of wargames. Ever play 40k?
I've played a lot of 40k in every edition except for the last two which has been only a handful. Don't really care for the Sigmarine 8th and 9th edition version
@@Helcarexe26 I've just started getting into 40k with 9th edition, and I was looking for other people to play with on TTS. I'm also getting a 3d printer and will be printing terrain for eventual in person games. Once I actually get my full Tau army, lol. Gonna lose a lot because 9th ed seems to favor fighting more than shooting, but my battletech heart loves the visual style lol.
@@wolf3794The 8th and 9th are more for quick game of melee, first game of 8th edition was an eye opener when a marine unit marched across the table and charged on the first turn.
@@Helcarexe26 my son has been watching 40k gameplay for the last two years, and he finally talked me into learning 9th ed. All the online resources I've been able to find have updated to 9th unless that codex isn't out yet (like the Tau, they're still 8th ed legacy) but can't find anything older than 8th edition :P
