Credit cards are not meant for 80% of people. There are always some catches. Credit cards are the most marketed product by banks.
If you check every bank's revenue, you will see more than 60% of revenue is collected by credit card interest, annual fee, penalties, etc.
You can talk to hundreds of crorepatis in India but no one will say they became crorepati by collecting credit card reward points but you will meet many people who will say credit card debts have destroyed them.
If you use a credit card, you are always trying to cross those reward milestones by overspending.
It's too much hassle to get a few thousand from credit card rewards and if anyone thinks 1-2k will change their lives then they have more significant money problems.

Credit card use is nearly as bad as taking a loan .. especially when you have the money...to buy stuff whose resale value is zero the moment it's in your hands... infinite depreciation.
Stay within limits...and concentrate on making money.and buys appreciating assets..not spending on depreciating junk

I use SBI cashback card, it has 5% flat cashback on all online purchases. *All* online purchases, all websites, all apps. it has limit of 10000 max cashback per month, thats like 2,00,000 purchases every month, so basically it's an unlimited cashback card.
No other card even comes close to the reward rate with this much convenience
edit: so apparently cashback has been reduced to 5000 per month, that's still 1lac purchases, which is plenty enough. and cashback has been removed from certain purchase, so yes, in 6 months this card's benefits have decreased, so take this for what it's worth

It's not smartly using a credit card. It's overusing it. If you are earning more and spending more, only then a credit card like this can help you. If you are earning less or earning more and want to save more money, this is not gonna help you much. You are better off with a debit card. In fact your spending habit increases if you have a credit card, so your saving habit goes away.

When I reach out to them, SBI card states that I have used my card on a transaction with a discount/offer and hence they deducted the Reward Points earned.
