I'm glad they left this scene out tbh. Joker is pretty much the most iconic Batman villain. So much so that the other villains don't really get the chance to shine without him somehow being involved. I'm glad they gave Riddler his shine.

As good as this scene is, removing it was the right call because Joker successfully profiled Riddler and pretty much spoiled the idea behind his entire motivations right then and there. This was set early on in the film after Riddler got his second victim so had we been fed this knowledge then, it would knock the impact of the reveals later on and it would be questionable how Batman would not have taken this information into account throughout the rest of the investigation. It would have also taken away from the later Joker scene in Arkham because we'd have already known he was there and seen what he looks like.
The joker should be fucked up and terrifying to the point were Batman existence is justified--even though Bats is the reason for creating joker.... love this
He is not snitching. At this point joker doesn't know about riddler. This is the first time he reads about him. This scene is set after commissioner's death, although joker did know if batman catches him riddler will end up at Arkham. At the end when riddler is sent to Arkham that's when joker introduces himself and says he should be proud of the work he has done ( referring to what riddler did or achieved by reading thru his file)
Based on how messed up he looks, I think this Joker went through some variation of the chemical bath origin. A more realistic take than Nicholson's, in terms of how badly chemical burns can mess you up, but I think that's basically his deal. But I like that they're not addressing it, and that the characters already have an established relationship. Also, this scene is verrrry Red Dragon/Silence of the Lambs. And the look reminds me a lot of Lee Bermejo's Joker art.

Barry nailed it. And Im glad this scene was cut too. Im hoping they would keep teasing the Joker in the sequels...you know like a build up. Or make his presence known. In either case I'm all in. So far the most terrifying depiction of the Joker.

It definitely feels like we’re being set up for more than a trilogy. It could be a situation where the team comes back to do a film, work on their own stuff and the come back to do another film. It would Really add to the concept of a Batman that grows and we see age with time.

As captivating as he's been as a standalone character, I really hope they build more on Joker's chemistry with The Batman in the coming movies. For all the excellent monologues this character has had as scene stealer, I've yet to experience a really captivating exchange between the two. It's always inside an interrogation room with the Batman screaming "WHER IS SHE" which im kinda tired of. Realistically, we're not gonna get a flashy anime fight so let's get some more psychological fencing and masterful wordplay between the two so we get more bars we can quote. Great scene and good react vid as always!

All that is a clear nod to the whole "vat of acid" shtick, or at the very least "acid" in general.

This is a young joker still missing patches of hair from his chemical burn. This movie is year 2 Batman hence him making a joke about him and Batman’s 1 year anniversary. That’s why in the movie he was scared to glide and couldn’t land even in a wing suit yet. He hasn’t created the Bruce Wayne playboy persona yet either. They teased a connection with Joker, in having Thomas Wayne murdered while running for mayor. And I don't think Thomas Wayne ever ran for mayor in the comic books. Perhaps he did in the New 52 or Convergence, I'm not sure. But I like the tease.

I feel like the Joker figures out more than Batman realizes when he points out that the violence is "so Baroque" (or to put another way, messy and irregularly shaped), while his puzzles are so meticulous. This is a huge clue that The Batman is overlooking HOW people were murdered and that it would make sense that The Riddler would be meticulous in the violence (murder weapon) as well.

I agree that this scene was removed from the theatrical cut, because it would have outshone the other villains, but it should definitely be included in a later dvd version as a special director's cut.

Watching this scene truly has me excited for what reeves will do with this character. They can dive into the dynamic of what makes joker n Batman such good adversaries because truthfully they are two sides to the same coin: madness. Batman response is order.. jokers is chaos. Even down to the subtle flirting joker does with Batman at the beginning about their anniversary n “what makes u think I come so cheap?”, the subtle homoerotic tension joker throws at Batman to fuck with him, straight (lol) out the comics. You guys, this deleted scene was originally supposed to be before he saw The Riddler, he went to Arkham and decided to see the "joker" beforehand. So, it's a Silence of the Lambs scenario. The idea it takes a madman to understand a madman thing.
His look makes sense because one of the jokers backstories is about him falling into acid that drove him to madness and realistically acid could make your skin that messed up
The first anniversary is from their first meeting Joker and him falling in the pool of acid
his version of the Joker is based on the graphic novel by Brian Azarello’ called Joker…that same toothy smile, the horrible disfigurement etc it all matches. Definitely my favorite version by far. Barry nailed it. And Im glad this scene was cut too. Im hoping they would keep teasing the Joker in the sequels...you know like a build up. Or make his presence known. In either case I'm all in. So far the most terrifying depiction of the Joker.

The best thing about this is how unsettled Batman is but is trying not to show it. And that's big since Batman himself is already scary in this movie.
I agree that this scene was removed from the theatrical cut, because it would have outshone the other villains, but it should definitely be included in a later dvd version as a special director's cut.

joker (2019) takes place in 1980 whereas The Batman (2022) is present day heck they even said the waynes died in 2001 in the movie
I heard that but idk if it’s true that Both batman and the joker are in their early stages of being who they are and that’s why jokers appearance is like that and that he is “healing” I don’t know if this is true though but it would make sense why the joker is bald and his skin is all messed up.

Watching this scene truly has me excited for what reeves will do with this character. They can dive into the dynamic of what makes joker n Batman such good adversaries because truthfully they are two sides to the same coin: madness. Batman response is order.. jokers is chaos. Even down to the subtle flirting joker does with Batman at the beginning about their anniversary n “what makes u think I come so cheap?”, the subtle homoerotic tension joker throws at Batman to fuck with him, straight (lol) out the comics. Matt Reeves is interested in doing Mr. Freeze for the sequel. But, I could totally see them doing Joker for the third/final installment. They could use the Arkham Asylum graphic novel storyline, where Joker takes over the Asylum and takes Batman on a psychological rollercoaster
