i just checked the menu....taylor ham/egg and cheese $12..yikes. Thing about a great diner is they can say " restaurant quality food at diner prices"........these are restaurant prices.
I think this place is one of the coolest places on earth to have a dinner lunch or breakfast? I was there two weeks ago. The staff the owners everybody is cool as a fan. Very nice customer service number one.
Ordered a diner classic, patty melt. If you can't make a decent patty melt, I ain't trusting you with more complex stuff. It was meh, fries were below average. MUSIC was WAAAAAAAYYY to loud. It was BLASTING and people were yelling just to be heard across tiny tables. They want to be a nightclub, and charge nightclub prices .
Iam from nwk nj and me and my family been going there since we where kids back in the 80s ive seen that place from able to smoke at the bar too no smoking and a bunch of changes

Your review is not gonna change the turn out so why make one. There's a spot where I'm from that the people in the city are loyal to and I promise you the food is criminal. One thing I've learned is people have different taste buds and no matter what you say they will defend them.
I love Tops. Even when they expanded, the food stayed fabulous. A little pricey but still great food.
This looks like a destination for me. I don't mind paying if the food is that good.
FYI, it's not in Newark. It's in East Newark, which is a small town next to the city of Newark 😊

I love this place. even with the new bigger location, it still gets super packed. I wish they would lower down the music

? I've been to about 20 diners and Tops is by far the most expensive. Not even close.

A little bit of what, salt? Nothing worse than beautiful looking food void of flavor.
If it's a little under salted, I don't mind. The worst thing for me is over salted food.
Overrated. Food looks better than it tastes and has zero flavor
