Amazing walk through love patching panda he's really leading the way in the DIY offerings in my opinion as offering what a lot of guys simply won't give to us DIYers

I knew I would like this module - definitely including this in my percussion expansion.

    Well. She’s on the list.
I like most of the sound on my DrumBrute Impact. The hats need this type control and sizzle.
    Thanks man!

I was hoping to get some control on the pitch of the metals and not only a filter control. That would have made it much more flexible. Still bought it tho :D

Love that they included the filters so you can really get some modular trap hats going

Those green and cloth cables in the first patch look comfy. Any chance you remember where you got those? Also: Yeah. This looks like a hats module I'd buy. Thanks, as always.

Hi DivKid, how does this compare to the Hexinverter mutant hihats? I have a hard time spotting any differences.

Seems like mutant hi-hats might have a bit more flexibility but at the cost of 3 more hp. I wish I could try both before I buy!

    this or mutant hihats?

I’m trying to decide that too. Seems like mutant hi-hats might have a bit more flexibility but at the cost of 3 more hp. I wish I could try both before I buy!

@@foxendeavor Having an independent filter for each channel, gain control on the metal noise plus control on the decay curve makes it super flexible no? :) instagram.com/p/B5Xw-K3IyY1/?hl=en

In your experience which of all the modules that you have tested reproduces the sound of a true real high hat sound like that of a real drum set?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi James, good question. As a drummer, who's spent a lot of time playing many hi hats ... none of them. Use samples if that's what you want. I don't have one personally but know the Squarp Rample handles round robin samples and velocity layers really well (a Patreon supporter and artist 'Jimatronic' uses this to great results).
Do you have a specific goal for the hi hats? A reason for them to be realistic? So much of that is also in the programming and 'playing' of the hi hats.

@@DivKid Thanks much for the advice. Not really a specific goal. It's just that real high hats sound great and many of the Eurorack modules that claim they are high hats or product high hat like sounds, to me sound more like short bursts of air, or the white/pink noise that generates them, they sound really fake. I just think that good synth and eurorack sounds are further enhanced by the sound of real drums with them.

Gotcha, I agree RE good drum sounds and playing with real drum sounds. I do like noise based hi hats and percussion. But it's very electronic and often similar to 50+ year old experiments in electronic synthesised percussion still.
Definitely worth having a sample option even if it's just simple one shot samples. Hi hat samples layer really nicely with electronic hi hat sounds too in lots of music.
An overlooked module that I do enjoy is the Pixel Dust by Omsonic. 606 style hi hats are usually nice (over the 808 for me most of the time). th-cam.com/video/8wF7hxk022k/w-d-xo.html

The pixel does sound pretty good, thanks

they are TR-606 like, so it's worth looking at anything based on that if you like the sound.

Since nobody pays for music anymore, concert attendance is shrinking, is the future of music a series of modules that automate music for you?
