Flying my Cirrus from Miami to Chicago IFR and VFR at 16,000 feet with Oxygen

- On this routine business flight I got to experience some beautiful scenery along the way and received excellent service from ATC. Flying at 16,000 feet with oxygen ensures a restful flight and feeling great at the destination albeit the 6 hours flight time. Hope you enjoy.

FAQs
- What airplane is this? This is a Cirrus SR22T (Turbo) Generation 6 (G6) built in December 2018.
- Why do you fly so much? I fly for business primarily supporting my clients and staff at meetings and conferences and vendor partner relationship building for my Government Payments platform company called Autoagent
- What do you use to record your videos? I use 3 GoPro cameras (models 5, 6, 7), I use ND4, 8, 16 filters on the cameras, I use a Sony FRD-AX53 4K camera with mechanically stabilized optical zoom, my iPhone 13 PRO MAX for many of the video shots you see when the 4K camera is too bulky to carry. I record audio with an old iPhone using voice notes and I use a cockpit audio recording cable I bought on Sporty's.
- What software do you use to edit your videos? I use Final Cut Pro on a MacBook and iMac
- Where do you find good royalty free video clips? I use artgrid.io
- Do you do all the editing? Yes, all this work other than some filler video clips and music is my work 100%
- What oxygen system do you use? I use Precise Flight cannulas and their X3 oxygen conserver regulators with the boom cannula. Works good but the boom could use some better engineering.
- Do you promote products? Never! I keep my videos sponsor free and continue have unlimited and unrestricted fun without a "boss" or watching my words.
- You fly so good don't you make mistakes? I make tons of errors which I will never show you lol
- Where are you from originally? I was born and raised in beautiful Greece and came to the US as a College student. Loved the Country decided to stay and build my career here. Best decision ever.
- How do you afford to own an airplane? Airplane ownership can be expensive but when done right, in the US, it becomes a wonderful tax deduction that can allow you to fly for business almost for free. Get trained well, get a bank loan and buy yourself an airplane for your business.

Been watching you for years. I have been day dreaming about some day flying and taking the fam on a cross country flight. After a 6 year battle with the FAA I got my medical and TODAY I get to fly the fam on a 5 hour cross country flight in the C172.

Very nice. I live in Hickory, and just came across this video of landing, fueling, and takeoff from my hometown airport. Next time in Hickory, walk up to the Crosswinds Cafe. Only a few steps from the terminal. Awesome Food. And they have pull - up parking right off of Runway 24. Thanks again!

Wow, another beautiful flight and familiar surroundings too. Currently in my office at home in suburban Chicago at 700’ msl. OAT has warmed to a blistering 7 F. Looking forward to those warmer days.

Another nice North Carolina stop if you can't get into Hickory is Raleigh Regional Person County (KTDF).

There was something great about seeing you just pull out your homemade lunch in a modest lunchbag in the milli dollar plane. Looks like there's a lot of lap space to eat without any issue!

When the TWR gives the instruction “Fly runway heading” means track the runway direction so you have to apply wind correction or means literally the compass heading, despite the wind? VFR pilot here. I was discussing this topic with some friends. Thank you!
Tracking runway heading say 51 degrees regardless of the wind.

Another superb video. Thank you. An idea that I would pay for: take a flight like this one, a little VFR, a little IFR, and more thoroughly document each phase. Planning, setting up the Garmin, interplay with controllers etc. slap not for training purposes disclaimers all over the place, et voila! I’m getting started in X-Plane 12 and like many I find the world of aviation a very confusing place to be. I know you are a very busy gentleman but perhaps pays somebody to edit the segments and then charge a fee to view? In any case yours is one of the most informative and entertaining aviation options on YT. Thanks again from Toronto.

@@NikosWings But better then the -23F with wind chills of -45. Was up fighting a fire 80 ft on the ladder truck. Was only able to stay up there for 15 mins. Just too darn cold. Take care.

That was another nice video I always enjoy them that's the way to fly I always feel as if Iam really right there. I recommend any pilots who needs practice reading back IFR clearances and filing and talking with ATC to listen to" Niko" he definitely helped me and will help you improve your ATC skills 100% and just all around, although I have always loved talking on the radios to ATC and there so on top of it and have helped get through a few challenging moments'. Keep the videos coming there always interesting Niko.

Just a thought since you mentioned recently being waxed should improve performance a bit. I'm curious if ceramic coating might do the same/or better and perhaps hold up longer than traditional waxing.
Any thoughts?
I’m sure it’s good but never did it. To me these things seem unnecessary and overkill
@NikosWings I was thinking because ceramic coating last much longer and water just rolls off it. Dirt doesn't adhere. I'm thinking air may slip over it much easier (lower resistence). It just seems reasonable from an engineering perspective. Maybe you could get a ceramic coating company to provide it for testing and promotion maybe offer to do a video series of its benefits including average fuel consumption and or airspeed/gph.
I’m sure there’s some truth to that but at $600 or more it’s absolutely not worth it no matter how you cut it

You mention liking the Precise Flight oxygen system but "the boom could use some better engineering". What don't you like about it? I'm looking into a new O2 system and have been looking at Precise Flight and MHOxygen.
The boom is flimsy and comes apart easily. Look at other options but I don’t think there’s much else out there
Hickory is a nice airport. They’ve got some cool retired air force birds on the upper ramp next to the fuel farm.
What is your typical cruse speed and fuel burn in the SR22T at 16,500 feet?
The burn rate is always 16.4gph at any altitude at cruise settings. At 16,500 feet the TAS is 180-185.

if all you say is "i've got the weather" they still have to give you the weather." you need to say the letter for the most recent weather for them to not have to.
Yes that’s all good brother but what if it’s an automated AWOS? There’s no letter brother man!!! So “with the weather” it is.
Maybe a push by visible YT pilots, like you, would press Cirrus to put a Diamond diesel jet fuel power plant? Only makes $$$ sense...or buy a DA50RG and ask for a sales ad discount, LOL LOL.
The retractable gear on the 50RG will cost so much in extra insurance it’s not worth the fuel savings in the end, plus it’s still slower than the SR22T. I hope that Cirrus comes up with a Diesel option but I doubt it as it would require redesign of the cowling and new weight and balance. Too costly for something that may not convert to extra sales and would take away from the existing products.
Cirrus manufactures at capacity and cannot keep up with demand. Adding a new airplane type makes zero sense. I wouldn’t do it if I was Cirrus, I would add easier features for the existing plane like pressurization option, but that again, will take sales away from their jet, yet people like me that want the jet for the pressurization, not the performance would gladly spend our money faster on a Cirrus pressurized version.
