      Yeah, the shape and space of the outer cover made it an excuse to use the aviation connectors that I initially planned to use for all my RGB mods. It also makes it easier and faster to make the hole for the RGB input socket. I can just drill a hole, vs spending like an hour hand cutting and sanding the Scart/JP21 socket hole. No question, more to come!

      It's a 13" and even for composite, looks awesome. I't small and light (ish). I don't think it should be a prob. I think there was a Disney TV around your area when I scoured either Facebook Marketplace, Offerup, or Letgo. One of those 3... it was pretty cheap too.

    Great work again. Love the external scart box, the cable wrapping is really clean. Interesting note about the disney branded CRTs; they were produced way past their prime. The cars 2 branded ones were produced and sold in 2011 If you can believe that. I wonder how good a low-hour cars 2 one would look fitted with RGB?
    That Fist of the North Star game has been on my radar for a while now, but I haven't seen it for a price I wanna pay yet. Still need to watch the show too, Lol. Congrats on the WEGA set, I have the KV-36FS120 but having a smaller one definitely has its perks. Well once again great video, I enjoyed it on my PC CRT (with an orion tube!).

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, actually did tons of research on all the Disney CRT's, and it was supposed to be in this video, but I decided it would make a great video on it's own. The Cars TV's were more than like made by TTE or some other Chinese maker. Most times, by 2006 on... TV's were using "1chip" integrated micon/chroma-jungle chips so RGB modding is not possible. And funny you bring up the Cars2 set, as there is one posted about 3 weeks ago for $60 in my area.. 😬👍
      I have a KV-36FS17 msyelf. I think you can spot it in the video. Had it for over 3 years now. It alsmost killed me and tore off my arms. Wega or Trinitron TVs, I got quite a few, and someone was begging me to do one on a Wega. You find more Trinitrons than anything, so... yeah. I've had them for quite some time now, so I might as well appease the Trini lovers.
      Interested to know what PC CRT has that Orion tube. LMK!

    Shoot, i got exited when i found a local tv for 5 buck, then after open it up, found that mine is more complicated, its the 1350-p u model, so caps are not located in the same spot. ill see if i can trace them as i cant found the manual for it, chroma seems to be the same, not the micon.

  • @brigidios8451
    @brigidios8451 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is the MICON blanking cable not necessary? I don't see a solder wire there, on resistor R124

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is because you need to reestablish that line to get your "stock" mode back... like how your TV normally is. When you flip the switch, you are disconnecting all the lines from the micon to the chroma/jungle; and connecting the lines RGB lines and 5v to the chroma/jungle instead. The 5v from the tv (or you can get it externally) is considered your blanking line.

      @@The_SegaHolic thanks for the answer, another question I have is about the resistance of the aviator connector, each one has one leg in the r/g/b/sync and the other leg in a common ground of the av tv ground?

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brigidios8451 The aviation connector is just a connector I chose. You really can use any connector. Sometimes I choose to use a SCART connector. There is no resistance in the pins. The connections to the connector are you RGB/Sync singnals from your video game console, along with Right and Left audio, and ground. So you need 7 input pins for your connector.
      You can watch my other RGB mods on TVs and you'll probably understand better if you watch them all.

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing you tried the flipping through the channel before the lowest channel? I forgot if you can do this with this particular TV and I'm too lazy to dig her out at this hour (2AM), and it may be different with the tiara version as that TV is made by a different manufacturer. This one is made by Orion. But yeah, I don't know why manufacturers didn't include an input button on the TV itself, which to me, was a major oversight. Otherwise, no, I haven't seen a board with an unwired "input" button.

  • @cliggster

    What meter are you using to get capacitance on the caps you removed? I need a good capacitance meter because my multimeter doesn't do capacitance.

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nearly all DMMs on Amazon over $20 will do a great job reading caps up to a certain range. Just check the specs but all will be nearly the same. I have more professional ones, but nowadays, performance differences are quite negligible.

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to creat a break in the blanking circuit, like you do for the R, G, and B circuits. This TV does not have an easy way to create that break for the blanking circuit.
      You need to create a break in the Blanking and RGB circuits in order to stop the signal from the Micon that goes to the Chroma/Jungle so you can insert your own RGB signals to the Chroma/Jungle that the Micon usually does. The Micon's RGB signals are the channel numbers and text and incons that come up usually when you press a button on the romeote or TV.
      Watch my JVC D-Series mod, then my Sony Trinitron mod in that order, and you can get a better understanding as I explain in detail in those videos.

Couldn’t you have just put a jumper wire where the .1 caps were on the board, had one set of RGB in and then ran the .75 ohm resistors and the .1 caps in series along with the wiring following that? That switch was wild man. I’m honestly going to be using just a normal 3 prong on/off switch.

      The video couldn't wait for 100 likes. LOL. As for S-Video, looks like you can as there are Y and C inputs to the chroma chip, which I included the data sheet (page2) in the zip file in the description.
