Whoa! What a great surprise. Andrew and Jeffry are friends of ours and we have stayed with them in this incredible space. I have to say that as incredible as it looks in this film, it is even better in person. For all the hard work and creativity they have put into the place, it is totally livable and comfortable. Every room, every space is made to be enjoyed. Part of that is the warmth of Jeffry and Andrew who make you feel that when you are there it’s your home too. They also have been great citizens of San Miguel by getting involved with local causes and employing local artisans. Thank you for this ‘re-visit’.

Wow! Now this place is a WINNER. One of the most beautiful and most well-thought-out homes I've ever seen. Just this morning I saw a video from inside a home where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio had lived and there was blue-and-white Mexican tile there then while watching this video I thought of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and how their home was a work of art in itself, but Jeffrey and Andrew have taken a Mexican home far beyond that into the 21st century, but still keeping the beauty of past centuries and of other cultures. If there are ever Oscars given for houses: Jeffry and Allen's wins for Best House.
Hi Andrew! Have you seen the Hyder House in San MIguel de Allende? As far as I know, it's available for special vacation rental and there's a terrific little personal walking tour of the property which someone posted many years ago here on TH-cam-- I think they were staying there as a small wedding party. The quality isn't high-def unfortunately but I don't think my heart could take seeing the property in crystal clear clarity, haha! It's one of the most divine properties I've ever seen. Nobody really talks about that elegant-accidental-tropical jungle Mexican style of landscaping and gardening, where it looks wild, rambling and romantic but perfectly cultivated and purposeful at the same time. Everything just looks long established and alive. Swooning! The labyrinthine lush gardens are half the magic for me. If you can find the video, I highly recommend watching it. Bye! :)

Beautiful home! I love the design, the materials used and the craftsmanship! The craftsmanship and techniques are an important element in this home! Many towns in Mexico have extraordinary artisans still working with their hands using local materials and using original techniques. These skills, in my opinion must also be preserved!

Mexico has a very impressive history of craftsmanship. They try to make the best of vernacular traditions and materials so they don't have to copy anyone. Their culture is that rich in heritage, and that is what makes it so intriguing. We have a friend who has a home in the country and the level of craftsmanship and knowledge of materials is very impressive. Their design of the chandeliers was brilliant.
I agree. I feel very similarly about Japan and love to see and learn about their regional traditions and history when it comes to landscaping, building and craftsmanship in general. Genuinely awe-inspiring.

This home is fantastic! I love the historic feel, with color and pattern reminiscent of Morocco as well as Mexico, everything tasteful, yet surprising. I don't think I've ever seen so many bathrooms that I love. How could one choose between them? And that view is sublime! I did smile at the jacaranda flowers on the table; I grew up next to a house with one, and while they are beautiful (blooming all over San Diego right now), they make a bit of a mess. I forget Susanna is from Connecticut...outdoor rooms are common here as well.

This house has a lot of magic. There are so many elements that I love I can't list them all here! The white chandelier against the blue and white linen was something. The bath filler is the coolest thing. Then there's the gardens!

When he released the water into the tub, my eyes really shot open wide, lol. I have never seen such a mechanism. The blue & white is just beautiful, and such a traditional touch to a unique home. However, my favorite aspect of the tour goes to the dog, who had an adorable reaction to the water hitting the tub.
