I really love you Pinky, I love what you do especially the support organizations that you partner with for the greater good of our society. But there's one thing I strongly disagree with you on - no you aren't AFRICAN Pinky, you are a Kenyan of the Asian/Indian discent. Being African isn't a movement for people to jump in whenever is convenient for them to do so, as a people we'v gone through stuff you haven't gone through because of the color of our skin so NO we will guard our space even if it's from people we love such as yourself. If I was born in India, would I be called Indian or an African in India? If I was born in Europe does that make me European?? If you did your DNA is it African or Asian? As Africans we must guard our space, some people want to be Africans when it's cool to be one but don't have to put up with the prejudices that come with being Melanin, if me and Pinky walked into a European airport with both our Kenyan passports I would have to be pulled aside for being African before they even check my passport. She would pass by for being the Asian she is. So no Pinky, you aren't and can't be AFRIKAN!
I knew Pinky and her family in my childhood days she and when she says African, she is not trying to hijack anything....she just loves Africa with her heart and ofcourse she's been born and raised in Kenya which is part of Africa. I understand what she means...She doesn't mean she belongs to the African race...it's clear to see...chill out my Afrikan brother...nothing to fight for here. Ask any 5th,6th,10th generation white South African who they are...they will not say I'm South African of Dutch descent....ain't nobody got time for that.
