I've just fallen in love with all of this! I am feeling nostalgic of my university English classes with you and I'm all here for it!!! I am so so very glad you showed the Tarot of the Abyss because I love it but I don't "know it" yet. And I feel like this is just the season for the darker less colorful part of the year. Thank you!!!!
Love the Uncommon Tarot! 🤩 Kat Black‘s deck may end up on my list! For beginners, I think it’s more important to get a fully scenic deck (ie minors have scene pictures rather than pips), and put processes in place to routinize the daily posts (Excel spreadsheet, fixed time of day to post, etc). A lot of folks drop out every year and feel too sad to jump back in.
I do really love the Good Fortune Tarot. The art style didn't seem super exciting (which is odd because I love the artist's work), but it reads *just* like the RWS for me. It's able to perfectly capture that mostly neutral, full of subtle symbols, open to interpretation vibe that the RWS has. And I do love the little treasures in the guidebook.
I know you don’t like it but The Light Seers is a good option. Also Tarot of Mystical Moments, The Crow Tarot and The Guardians of the Night, Tarot de Carlotydes, Dreaming Way Tarot or The Llewllyn Tarot to name a few.
Thanks, Pedro!! Great suggestions - I think Carlotydes would be really hard for a beginner, though and Mystical Moments (which I did consider) also pushes a bit too far. Lots of fruit for thought.
Thanks for mentioning this. I had avoided The LightSeer's Tarot ("too this, too that"), then I was sent it as a freebie with my tarot order. Ironically, it has given me great, consistent readings and honestly is my favorite at the moment!
❤ love this! I am new to Dropm78 , I was thinking about “every little thing you do is magic tarot” it’s beautiful but kind a new addition for my collection. What do you think about it? Do you have it?
I think Shadowland Tarot by Monica Bodirsky would be another great option. The guide book that comes with it is fantastic and the deck follows RWS. I'll also second (third? fourth?) Light Seers.
@@sacredsortilege Lisa Papez is studying the Shadowland deck in her members group. It’s a great deck- smart, quirky, and colorful. I like the forward by Liz Dean.
If I absolutely had to use an actual RWS deck, I do have the Tarot Vintage from Lo Scarabeo, but I don't like the PCS artwork, even with the vintage, toned down colors. My 1st Tarot deck was the Murder of Crows Tarot. I find that artwork frankly disturbing, but not nearly as "icky" as the PCS artwork. Right now I'm trying to decide between the Raven's Prophecy Tarot, the Murder of Crows Tarot, or Charles Harrington's Tarot of the Vampires for Dropm78.
I love Tarot of the Abyss. I waited over a year to get it in Brazil. Check this deck... THE EVERYDAY ENCHANTMENT TAROT... FINDING MAGIC IN THE MIDST OF LIFE... it is a very unique version of tarot, more modern, real life situations. The art is amazing. Even though the cards are big, it is great to work with. Blessings
I’m still wondering whether to do this challenge. I’m relatively new to tarot and have decided to do thothtober and I am loving it. That obviously ends on Halloween. So I am tempted to the drop em 78 as well. However the RWS art work does nothing for me and I don’t own it. Out of all the ones you have just mentioned the Aquarian Tarot resonates the most and was already on my tarot wish list 😅. But I do understand the need for RWS as a reference. What do you guys think?
I'm also doing thothtober, and I'm thinking about using the Thoth as my DROPM deck. It was a surprise totally out of left field for me, but it's the one that's given me the most intriguing interview reading.
@@theallisoncompendium I am loving this deck I have to say. But can I sustain that momentum and drive to explore it for 3 months (as already a week in with the Thoth)? I’m not sure…
The need for RWS is because it is the base for all Tarot and it will help you to understand. You said you are new and not using RWS in my opinion slows down your understanding of Tarot. Enless you understand tarot very well, for newbies is always advisable to start with RWS otherwise great confusion cuppled with frustration is the result.

Another RWS alternative is the Modern Witch Tarot which I dislike myself but it’s very popular and does the job well.

@@MindfulTarot yes the Carlotydes could potentially be difficult.

I don't have the deck... but if it inspires you, and gives you enough structure to work with, I think you should trust your intuition!

Yay! The Good Fortune Tarot is what I’m going to be using ❤
Love this deck. Lisa Papez had Barbara on her members only. It was really fun. 🤩
@@laurabondurant5096 I saw! That’s what tipped my decision to finally get the deck 😃

I don’t have Shadowland but have admired it greatly. Lovely suggestion!
Would you say that D3 is best placed at the end of the day as a reflection or not?
Never mind! You answered it! Haha 😂
