@@AaronAAMusic Voice mastering is a 10000x more difficult for starters when ur getting used to ur voice recorded . I have made some covers, they sound amateur while I wasn't hearing myself through the recording.
What I’m thinking is making a network of bands. We all agree to push each other’s music. I’m going to recruit as many bands as possible to push and share our music a ton over that release day. Then, we have a big group chat of everybody involved so we can plan release dates for each other’s music. Make it ambitious. I’m going to try and get 50 bands to help over the course of the month of promo and lead up. I’m really thinking of this as being a business you know, we treat our band like a business, why not join together in certain aspects to make one larger corporation/conglomerate to increase our promotional power. That we can all get a huge push of momentum for our releases. If things get serious we can even start paying dues and I can really make a sort of co-op model employee owned promotional company.
that's an awesome idea and I can tell that you only get lots of advantages. In my experience it helps not only in promoting the song, but also in creating, mixing and mastering it. The only thing I have experienced as limiting factor is that usually people must be at least under the same genre umbrella and not too far as sub umbrella. For example, asking a metal grindcore artist to support your techno track will be quite forcing it and the results will be minimal. Asking your dubstep friend to support your bass house or hybrid trap song gives much better results. (PS: I do dubstep and started a group like this, we called it Legacy. If you want to be part of it, please feel welcome)

Brilliant video as always Damo. I'm so super excited now! I have a whole new mindset now that I'm not focused on growth. I realize that I have around 100 followers on any given platform (albeit not TikTok for sure and maybe not Twitter, but that's still a baby), which is seriously *a lot* of people when I stop and think about it! Particularly considering that a great many of these people don't spill into other platforms. Not only that, but I typically get new subscribers regularly, even when I'm skipping up and not posting! I've really got so much potential to hustle right here, (especially considering each platform has its own unique messaging service) so I am definitely *not* at all worried about getting more numbers right now since I most deserve to figure getting comfortable with consistently taking care of these followers and handful of fans who I am so immensely thankful for right now. Of course, the fans of your music tend be people that you can relate to and connect with, since music is one of the most intimate forms of self expression. I could hardly be more thankful for the genuine bonds I'm creating and lives I'm influencing!

I had all the notifications and calendars and competitions and what not in place. It was going to be great! Then lock-down hit a few days before release. No excuse just a little bump except for...the song is about a dying person. Possibly the worst time to release a song about a dying person. Thank you "viral virus that shall not be named". There was no stopping it though. Honestly I didn't push it as much as I had planned. The lesson I learnt: Should've stuck to my calendar and shamelessly continued with the strategy I had in place. I'm not that big of a deal (yet) that bad taste or bad timing could kill my career.

Depends on your existing audience. I’d go for a week to announce normally, but if you’re going for Spotify editorial playlists submit it around 3 weeks before
What would you recommend to someone who unfortunately has to work on a Friday and can’t - in theory - be glued to their phone all day? Take a personal day? Release on a weekend?

oh here's a fun thing I do, I make fanny packs out of upcycled stuffed animals (call them Lil' Franny Packs... since my name is Lillian Frances ☺️) and each song on my album has a unique fanny pack! I think sending out a little teaser of the music video via DMs is very helpful cus if that gets shared, new people are more likely to become interested in the track / the artist than by just sharing a picture 💪thanks for yr work!!!
Another idea! How about contacting all the bands that are on the new fans playlists and telling those other bands about the lists - and that you are happy to be on the same cool playlist and ask them to share with their fans. That way other bands are sharing these 20 or so new playlists which also have your new release, to their fans.
