As a child back in '92, I remember watching this and seeing adults with tears in their eyes, wondering why they were sad. Now, as an adult, I realize they were not sad; they were hopeful and optimistic. The Cold War had just ended, and many nations around the world were opening up; the future was indeed bright and promising for many.
I was 22. Just starting my adulthood. When I see this I cried then. I cry now. Simply beautiful but yes a lot to do with the memories.

I grafuated high school in ‘92. We sang this song at graduation ceremony.. 32 years later many of us are still friends.
Oct 2020 , watched this with my Mother in 92 and we smiled and cried , now I listen alone and I’m crying more than smiling.

FUN FACT: Sarah Brightman is the only singer EVER to have sung at the Olympics TWICE. This 1992 Closing ceremony singing AMIGOS PARA SIEMPRE was her debut. Her return was in 2008 for the Opening Ceremony of that year's Beijing Summer Olympics singing YOU AND ME.

Sorry but I disagree. Pavarotti singing Nessum Dorma in the Olympics is by far the best presentation and it was the last one of him, so it's even more important. But I love José and Sarah, they did amazing too.

Jose, then recently recovered from leukemia, had been asked by the Spanish government to coordinate all the music aspects of the Olympics. One of the things he did was ask his friend, Lloyd-Webber to write a song for the closing ceremonies. Of course, as a tribute to Jose’s miraculous recovery, he obliged immediately. Such an unforgettable effort by the two singers and the composer. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

First Freddy Mercury and Monserrat Caballé announcing the Olympic games with their wonderful song, after José Carreras and Sarah Brightman also singing this beautiful song, the way Paralympic athlete Antonio Rebollo turn on the Olympic with his arrow. Wowww with no more words I can say it reminds forever in my mind.

Que actuaccion tan linda que voces.....y que pareja hacían Sarah cantó con Carreras y Plácido siendo muy joven ,con Bocelli fueron varios años después...maravilloso que Imno ,con esas voces un éxito muy grande.
