    I'm sure Jerry and Bobby made a bet backstage on how soon Letterman would ask them about the "Drug-Culture" in Frisco. It was the Grateful Dead's ingenious idea to allow fans to record and circulate tapes of the concerts that built a world-wide army of Dead-Heads. RIP Jerry, Pig Pen, Brent and Vince.

    • @chrisconley8583
      @chrisconley8583 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No need to bet. Someone from the show comes into the green room before the show just to talk, from that comes Dave’s (or any late night host’s) questions.
      It’s done to tip each other’s hands, so the interview goes more smoothly. It also a way to have Jerry and Bob not get asked a question that they might not want.
      This has been going on since Carson to say the least.

Bob is def trippin, anyone who has ever tripped knows what its like to try and hold it together socially when you're going through it. You try to have normal reactions but they are pricelessly not normal. This has been edited but there is more in the full spot, including two performed songs. Jerry's intelligence, perception and wit are on full display here, what an honor it is to have heard his voice and the music. Bob seemed reeeeeeealy high on something, but it was very interesting to see how he snapped into focus with Dave's question about being isolated. They both connected with that question and instantly got past the awkwardness into an honest conversation. Dave was/is a master of his craft, make no mistake. That was a hell of a question he asked, I wish they had stayed on that topic more.

    A good interview that could have been great. Both Bob and Jerry were ready to talk, Dave should have let them go.

      Dave just seemed really awkward here, he really didn't seem to know much about the Dead. Agreed, this could've been much greater if Dave let them talk more and if he did some homework.

      Bob's weird because he is an imposter -- he was an agent of the CIA, though Jerry was innocent and lacked awareness of what was going on. RIP Jerry, may your spirit fly high, brother.
