What a fantastic, phenomenal person. Was deep in his addiction and depression and was dying and still was the same jovial, kind, beautiful soul that made Jerry Jerry. Just love this guy. So much.
He was in a great mood, so weird how things turn like that then just gone. Stinks thinking of all these special people who are gone and with them all that talent. We are so much less without the songs and voice, I know he is just a man but he gave us something special for a lifetime and its a little darker with Jerry gone. Cheers
Jerry was the best… thank god I got to see him 38 times from 86 to 96 or whatever time period, 85 to 95. If I could do it all over I would’ve taken more chances to see them as much as possible. Best memories of my life!😎
Jerry does such a wonderful job of describing the ‘zeitgeist’ of that moment in time and cultural history. He is humble enough to barely acknowledge his own central role in it. Wonderful interview with great stories and a great American artist.
from 1960 to 1990 (those dates are off the top of my head) a LOT of super creative energy exploded across the planet.... music, literature, arts in general went to another level.....these kinds of interviews must be preserved of the people that were actually there for very soon the terrible myths that were the exception to the rule will become the new reality so THEY will be able to prevent the magical explosion from happening again.....anyone born from 19 40 to 1960 (again arbitrary dates on my part) is/was the result of a vast explosion of economic/psychic/spiritual/metaphysical expansion.....i have listened to others talk about the blinding light of absolutely free creativity that flooded over them.... higher education brings higher consciousness.......jerry may not have been higher educated in an academic sense but just being around many that were obviously rubbed into his spirit...........keep the history of this era alive with the truth with interviews like this
Jerry had a certain way inside about him that nobody else had. His playing guitar & singing gave & fed intelligent strong thoughts to take along with you. Time blessed him & all the Grateful Dead members & fans. Good Vibes, Times, & Happy Fun For Everyone. Peace.
Jerry was awesome and still is I have 3 thousand hours of live dead from cassette tapes recorded at the shows the dead encourage people to share their music and have a designated space for recording people who have like 30 ft mike stands I found out from stumbling into the recording area knocking over microphones tape machines everybody was yelling at me I was on liquid acid and like had a religious thype experience. Again. We would lose each other for hours then bump into each other and walk right down to the stage. Jerry was like 6 ft from us. I locked eyes with Jerry and he made some magical light come out of his guitar and goes into my chest a heaving feeling that circled around the stadiums people you could see it coming like when people do the wave but not trying to it was scary for a moment there. But I felt the magic if your a real deadhead. You know what I mean. By the magic it’s real
Yeah, last show for me was 94' in VT. I had a few chances to see Dead and Co, but never went. Without Jerry, it wasn't the same. He was a class of his own. Duane Allman is in that class, as well,
Funny, still sharp even though he was day-riding the Horse. Telling, at that point: "I don't know how you play" -'with Great pain', but I bet he practiced guitar for 6 hours after that interview
❤Jerry he is the definition of kind, nice ,righteous, cool&❤f......those conventional. THE WORLDS PROBLEM ROBOTS ALONG WITH GREEDY SELF CENTERED PRICKS

Wow, I love this! Thank you so much for posting!

Jerry is such a comedian! My God, I could listen to him rap for ages!
Beautiful. I love the man and I was sad to see him go. The rest of the dead is playing at jazz fest this year, but it won’t be the same without him

Open and honest. Very much appreciated.
Only Jerry Garcia could explain a concert as a “death camp” with a smile. I mean has this guy ever been mad?
I could listen to him for hours
I love you, Jerry.
Funny how the interviewer tries to pull Garcia back into Palo Alto & he’s not having it, lol. Such a talent, gone too soon.
I am old enough to remember when people were nice
To this day I’ve never experienced kindness like you saw at every Dead show. Somehow that band created a culture that transcended human nature
Great video! Long live the dead!
I love Waylon and Willie, too… it’s as if all these great musicians orbited each other in some way!
He looked really old for 52.

It's like watching Eugene Levy is doing Garcia.
Jerry!!!!!

Where was he? The room he's in looks kind of grim
Miss you Gerry?
my birthday but wrong year
Smoking a cigarette. Sheesh.
