- please don't let your guilt stop you from walking with Christ. Guilt can be dangerous when you are constantly clouded by it, preventing you to seek God or listen to His words due to shame. I do not entirely think that guilt is a bad thing as it can be a positive and important emotion that serves as a moral compass, helping us recognise when we've done something wrong, leading to self-reflection, repentance, and ultimately personal growth.
However, it's important to differentiate between healthy guilt and unhealthy guilt:
1) Healthy guilt encourages us to learn from our actions and avoid repeating the same mistakes. It aligns with the concept of conviction in the Bible, where the Holy Spirit gently convicts us of sin to lead us toward repentance and restoration.
2) Unhealthy guilt can be destructive and overwhelming. It often involves excessive self-blame, even for things beyond our control, and can lead to feelings of shame, anxiety, and worthlessness. Unhealthy guilt can trap us in a cycle of negative thinking and hinder us from experiencing the freedom and forgiveness that God offers.
So it is important to differentiate these two so that you don't fall into an unhealthy cycle.
Just like me, I'm sure many people have felt a lot of shame or regret for the sins they have committed. Thus, blaming yourself too much and questioning yourself why you did it. A thought may come to your mind where you repeatedly go into a cycle of self blame and self belittlement. If you ever have this thought you MUST realise it is from the enemy. It does no good to you as it will not lead you to repentance and lead you separated from God, due to the shame. It is not from God. God does not want you to experience that. The Spirit convicts us of the sin we have done so we may turn to Christ for repentance and not continue in that same action anymore.
So brothers and sisters let us all repent accordingly when the Spirit convict us of our wrongdoing and not fall into a pitfall of shame and self blame. For our God is ever forgiving and ever loving far beyond our imaginations. The whole Kingdom of Heaven rejoices when even one lost sheep find its way back to Christ. God Bless.
