@@jamesleung8679 yes sir. Tug of War is a well produced album, but I personally don't think it is all that great. That being said, I think Wonderlust is a beautiful song. There are tracks on the album that I like, but not enough to listen to them on a regular basis. I bought the album the day it was released, and Rolling Stone Magazine had already given it a 5 star rating, so I was expecting a masterpiece. It's far from being a masterpiece. I think Flowers in the Dirt is a far superior album, and I do play it often.

Great collection Andrew & some maga rare CDs you have.... I must say I'm surprised you don't have the Wingspan double compilation from 2001 which was worth it for the 3D cover alone!! Heard a rumour of London Town & Back To The Egg super deluxe sets being released together later this year so fingers crossed & I think you should revisit Back To The Egg as it's up there with my favourite Macca albums & believe me it never use to be!! It's aged extremely well.

A great, extensive collection. I enjoyed your backstories too, such as thinking Paul lived in a cabin counting his money and writing every song in the Top 40. I was an unusual teenager too, so it's the kind of strange logic I can understand. For some reason, while I only had the Red and Blue compilations and a couple of studio albums, I thought that Words of Love was the only cover version they ever did. They loved Buddy Holly so much they did one solitary tribute recording! Oh dear. I have mixed feelings about the bonus tracks on CDs: I'm glad we have them, but often they don't fit the album they're tacked onto. Goodnight Tonight, for example, has nothing in common with the McCartney II album.

Some good memories going through the albums. I got into Paul's music around Tug of War time and once Pipes of Peace came out, I bought as much as I could afford! Have vague memories of some Wings hits (and the weird realisation that Paul had been in a band before!). Remember buying Once Upon A Long Ago CD single when it came out - didn't get a CD player for another 2 years but I suspected it would be a collectable! As for All The Best, always preferred the 20 track vinyl & cassette. My first concert of Paul was also Birmingham NEC in Jan 1990, what a moment to finally see him after waiting for what seemed like an age!

I got mine (along with Red Rose Speedway) from the Beatles shop in Liverpool in 1990. Unfortunately, my Red Rose Speedway CD now has a nasty scratch which renders the back half of it unplayable. I now prefer Press to Play to Flowers in the Dirt. Btw, my Flowers in the Dirt World Tour pack has a 45 vinyl single of Party Party rather than an CD. Cheers, James

As always I am watching this late. But it's funny that you are doing a video like this, because last night I was curious on how many copies of "McCartney" I had both in vinyl and CD's. I counted twelve. I have multiple copies of each album, but I probably have more copies of the McCartney album than any of his other albums. I think, anyways.

How about a review of the Capital releases. FYI, I’m an original Fab Four fan. I heard the first releases of the Vee Jay and Swan releases that preceded the first Capital album. Great memories. Also, you do a bang up job and don’t miss your shows. Have you ever seen the Pop Goes the 60s podcast? I saw John Lennon on Thanksgiving night in MSG 1974 with Elton John. The audience went ballistic. And I saw Paul at Met
Life stadium in 2016. Sadly it was a bit disappointing. BTW I visited a company in Huddersfield a few times.

Nice episode Andrew - great dead-pan 'shout out' to the Daily M**l! I laughed out loud. Not sure if this was supposed to be a definitive collection, but a few more CDs come to mind a) Knebworth 1990 (also on DVD), where Paul and band play 2 tracks (more on the DVD), b) one track on Brian Wilson's 'Over My Head' album of 2004, c) 'I Would Only Smile', originally on Denny's 'Japanese Tears' (which is not on DC as far as I know), and then on some of the DC repackages (also on the archive RRS, although not sure if same version). No CD single of 'Spies Like Us'? (probably a good thing!)

    • @AndrewDixonMusic

I don't think there ever was a CD single of Spies Like Us, not to my knowledge anyway!
I'm fairly sure the Knebworth tracks are on 1 of the CD singles I showed (but I'm not at home right now to check), and if that's the case that would explain me not buying the Knebworth album, I tend to only buy things if they offer some unique content I don't already have.

Great collection , It is my understanding that the rarest CD from Flowers In The Dirt or maybe even overall from Paul McCartney is a Test / Reference pressing of "Figure Of Eight" , the disc contains the same mixes as the standard promo CD , it is completely blank with only the Capitol Records Information in the hub area and had no artwork at all , my understanding is that less than a hand full of these were ever pressed and it is nearly impossible to find , I would love to be able to find out from Capitol Records the exact number of these that were pressed.

Just some other albums Pauls contributes on include: Ringo (album) Six o'clock (which Paul actually wrote, he also contributed to You're Sixteen), La De Da (Vocals from Ringo's album Vertical Man), Grow Old With Me (From Ringo's album 'What's My Name' and written by John Lennon!!), Tony Bennett Duets (Paul does a vocal duet on The Very Thought of You', there is a promo cd of Figure of 8 which includes the 12 inch version and a promo cd single for Your Loving Flame with two remixes. Although no inclusion of Paul, MPL released an EP titled Paul McCartney Original Versions of 4 songs from RUN DEVIL RUN. A strange one this but it does feature Paul on the cover. There is also the album 'Good Rockin' Tonight The Legacy of Sun Records' where on track one Paul performs That's All Right'. Another is I walk to Walk You Home from ' Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino', ' Heal the Pain' with Geroge Michael oh the album 25, Rave on (Album Holly Days), The Honorary Councul (which I think eventually was released on cd Paul actually wrote the main theme), and then there is almost all the material on Denny Laine's Japanese Tears, and his brother's albums. Paul wrote most of the Elvis Costello single release ' Veronica' and many songs he co-wrote with Costello on the release Spike and the follow up Playboy to a Man. All of us on Andrew's channel will be familiar with dozens of albums Paul contributes on beyond these so I will not list any more. I simply included these as Pauls parts are so substantial. Well better be off as I have to fight The Battle of the Skeletons!

AN UPATE and a very young lady has hit gold without seeking it.
    Hi Andrew
Before the update would you like to take a stab at how many official McCartney 3 iterations were released across vinyl, CD, and cassette. It was hard work and I had to do my homework - no promos etc. Strangely the only count I could find on the internet was very close to the new number. So many editions that even the internet couldn't keep up.
A 17 year old girl working as a barista in my local coffee shop this morning revealled today she is a massive Beatle and Macca fan. I was so impressed. So I went home and came back with a pile of McCartney items for her to keep,. She will inherit my entire collection when I'm dead - I've been looking for someone to leave it to when the day comes. Basically a near stranger but that doesn't matter. She is a kind soul and of a young generation, who adores the fab four enormously. Problem solved.
    Thriving Pain - great title.

Paul also co-wrote (in 1969) with Steve Miller, "My Dark Hour." Paul performs on the recording playing just about everything and also does vocals with Steve Miller. At this point he was supposed to be incognito and is credited as Paul Ramone (I think/you can look it up). Paul's involvement was such a poorly kept secret that it was even mentioned in the review of the single in New Musical Express, at the time of release. Paul and Steve were/are friends and Paul has been involved in a number of projects with The Steve Miller Band. You could also have mentioned the album McGear (early 1970's) by Paul's Brother Mike. The band on the album is the full Wings line-up and Paul and Linda provide backing vocals. Most if not all of the songs are written by Paul or are joint written involving him. "Man Who Found God On The Moon, is a standout, as is the single "Leave It." A box set with extra tracks was recently released (50 years since release, I think). Paul also featured on the massive hit by Band Aid, "Do they Know It's Christmas." He is credited on the record but was not present when they shot the promo video.
