Careful guys, the Aero 15 does not use pads for the major VRM's like the AORUS laptops. It uses a relatively gooey paste, when people tried replacing this paste with regular paste they found that sometimes you have much less contact. The recommendation is to use 0.5mm pads (1mm if necessary). In that respect the aorus is easier to repaste. On the Aero when repasting was done and new pads installed there actually was a 3-4 degree temperature delta in regular day to day use but max temps were the same while gaming. It may help to keep the fans a tiny bit quieter? The GPU's due to the nm size, efficiency and allocated wattage does pretty well thermally, it's the bloody 8 core intel cpu's that gigabyte insist on using that are blowing these laptops beyond 90 degrees.
I recommend trying it out phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer, performs works better than traditional pastes and there is no pump-out effect. Instead of thermal pads, I advise to apply thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro.

I have the same question. It looks like maybe the fans can be removed without pulling the entire cooling assembly, but I'd really like to confirm before I disassemble. Would appreciate any guidance folks can give.
Doing my fan replacement now. You have to pull the entire cooling assembly out to replace the CPU/GPU fans, but it doesn't appear that the fans themselves will be all the difficult to swap once the assembly is out. A couple of differences to note from the above video compared to my own system - I only have 6 screws holding the cooling assembly in place instead of 7, and the CPU fan (on the left in the video) plugs in next to the memory instead of under the Wi-Fi card. But this video made me comfortable enough to get started, and figuring out the differences were small enough that the get-started push was all I needed to get through the process.

By redesigning the cooling to drop the CPU and GPU temperatures to a much more 'comfortable' level of say 80 degrees Celsius or even 75 degrees Celsius (when fully maxed out), the hw won't be running too hot and the system would be relatively quiet - also, lower temperatures result in higher longevity of the hw in general.

@@BobOfAllTrades my GPU doesn't work anymore. :(
Clearly but I can’t tell you why based on the information I was given
It’s possibly because the graphics card isn’t properly connected (though unlikely) or because you need to update your drivers. Try to check if your drivers are up to date, and if they are then google the error code you’ve been getting and see if anyone had the same problem before opening your laptop.
Maybe you screwed the heatsink back onto the GPU too hard and damaged it?
What do you think bob, i5 9300h + rtx 2060 with 8gb of ram and 512gb ssd for $979???, Or just wait for the rtx 3060max q from msi???
That’s too expensive, I’d wait.
"Doesn't pump out" - of course there is a pumping out, just like with EVERY similar thermal paste with similar ingredients, except perhaps IC Diamond which has its own problems and which is not available in stock anymore even at manufacturer's website. You can find actual evidence of this paste pump out on internet, just because you personally were lucky with it does not invalidate experience of people who did experience pump out on their particular laptop, with the particular mount system and particular heatsink pressure and surface quality.
I like gaming desktops and gaming laptops 💪😋 .
I tried all top thermal paste " this is meant to be cook on it🤬! And because the aorus control center cpu power presents you will having hard time to down clock it properly! Big time mistake my aorus 17g gtx2070!
Using this guide, I managed to successfully repaste my new Aorus G15 YC with Kryonought paste; was previously getting temps under load of around 93c.
Am now getting temps of..... 93c. God dammit.
Still, thanks very much for the easy to follow video!
Hello, I am using thermal grizzly thermal paste. What could be the reason for the overheating and shutdown problem after 5 days?
@@samimsamet Improper thermal paste application which, causes overheating, resulting in a shutdown
You don't put a blob on the CPU and GPU and then press the cooler in place. With a chip card or with your fingertip, the thermal paste should be smoothed out and spread on the chips.
I have done hundreds of these just on laptops alone and more than that on desktops every time I take it off there’s a perfect amount. You do things enough you get a feel for it
Redid my AORUS 15P KD today. They did a pretty bad job on both CPU and GPU. There had to be at least a half millimeter of caked/dried thermal paste in between both CPU and GPU die and heatsinks. After voiding my warranty and scraping off whatever crap gigabyte used and replacing with a skim coat of Arctic Silver V I've dropped 15c and no more crashes. I can use Nvidia's boost now too crashes.
Honestly this is probably just good practice to do once a year or sooner
I have the Aorus 15P with RTX3070 i7 10780H... the screen cable is more expensive than the screen it self 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 so i'mm using a monitor , no more laptop now
рука лицо. а термопасту кто размазывать будет? вот после таких видео и лежат куча ноутбуков с горелыми чипами...
