    Finally I can find a hand painted Gunpla tutorials! Thanks for making this video.
    I have a question, why do you painted the primer before erasing seam line?
    Thanks for reply~

      As you say, it is correct to erase the seam and apply primer. I don't know which part of the video you're referring to, but when hand painting, there is no hassle to paint separately for each part, so you can modify the seam line found while assembling the gunpla. Thank you!~

    I've watched this particular video for at least 5 times, trying to learn your sponge technique. Since then I've only used sponge for hand painted gundam. Quick question - any advantage of using hand painted primer over spray paint? So far I have been using Vallejo spray can primers (black / white), then apply Vallejo paint with sponge. Any tips would be much appreciated 🤩

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am glad that my video helped you with your modeling. Using a spray can is also a good option. If you apply primer with a brush, the surface is rougher than spraying, but it has the advantage of helping the paint adhere better due to the rough surface. This is just a choice, so use the method that feels more comfortable to you.

      @@pla_art Thank you for taking the time to reply!!! I got a small bottle of black primer to experiment. It is fun and add an additional aspect to it. I find it very useful for small parts - easier to paint than spray. Cheers! Looking forward to your next build!

    Hello!
    When you are painting the primer with hand brush, are you dipping the brush into water or thinner?

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Both water and Vallejo thinner are fine when brushing. It is enough to dilute it with no more water than the primer.

    So you can somewhat imitate airbrush using sponge? That sounds nice. Will it work even without primer? If I need to paint primer, does primer color affect the painting?

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      As you know. Airbrush is a tool to paint by spraying tiny paint particles. When the paint is touched with a sponge, the paint is painted with the particle size of the sponge. It's not very soft, but it's a good substitute when you don't have an airbrush. If you apply a primer, it will definitely be a good surface for sponge painting. If you want to paint flat white cleanly, using a white primer is a great benefit. However, if you want to express the contrast, it is better to paint over the dark primer color. Using a sponge over a dark primer color requires a lot of touch until the underlying color is covered. Thank you.

    Hi! I've tried using art sponge to apply titanium white over light gray primer. It solves the problem of brush strokes from paintbrush, but I noticed it takes more layers for the pigment to show. Is this because I'm applying white? I also noticed on your video that you applied paint vis paint brush towards the end. Is that because using a brush gives lays on more color?

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Please understand my lack of English first. In general, when painting a sponge, many layers are needed for bright colors. The reason for the need for many layers is that bright colors have high transparency. If you paint several times at once, you may not paint as many bright colors as you want, and the surface may be rough or thick.
      To solve this problem, paint with a brush, then dry with a dryer, and once again, dry with a hair dryer. And paint the end with a sponge for good results. Thank you.

    May I ask how do you prevent the paint when sponge painting from forming rough surface? It seems my paint gives a very rough finish. I was using craft paint by Mont Marte and Sakura. Thank you!

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Applying a surfacer primer will help paint the plastic surface better. The color is not painted as much as desired, so if you paint with a sponge too many times, the surface will become uneven and rough. If you apply a light coat, dry the surface with a hair dryer, and then paint, the color will look good even if you do not touch the sponge a lot. Thank you.

    친절하고 자세한설명 감사합니다 프라이머후 본도색 하실때 희석을 안하시는건가요? 그리고 혹시 색을 잘못칠했을때 벚겨내는 방법이 있을까요?

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      희석에 대해서는 언젠 한번 설명을 따로 하려고 하는데요. 아크릴을 한방울 정도씩 짜서 쓸데는 희석을 할만한 비율이 안나오기 때문에 스펀지를 2-3초간 담그면 물을 머금슴니다. 살짝 짜주고 손에 묻는 물기를 닦고 그 수분감으로 칠해 나가시면 됩니다. 조립하면서 도색을 하면 파트별로 칠하게 되기 때문에 이 정도방식이면 충분합니다.
      많은 양을 한꺼번에 칠할때(가조립후 한꺼번에 많은 부품을 칠한다던지..할때)는 물로 이 아닌 다른 전용 첨가제를 사용하는 방식이 더 좋습니다. 이는 따로 다루도록 하구요. 아크릴 도료를 벗겨내는건 사포로 최대한 갈고 세척후 서페이서나 프라이머를 뿌리는 방식으로 해결을 보셔야 할것 같습니다.

    • @pla_art
      @pla_art  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is recommended not to mix the ratio of water more than 1: 1, it is better to use less water than paint. If the airbrush nozzle is narrowed by the paint, a lot of bubbles are generated. I hope it helps.
