Morten, I would recomend you calibrate the voltage on that Chinese version of the Imax, with an accurate voltmeter. calibration mode is: dec+start and hold for five 5sec after you plug in the power to the Imax. this will allow you to set a compensation in the unit to match the voltage in a battery that you have measured with the accurate voltmeter.

I have a cheap Chinese copy also. mine is 2 years old and i use it all the time and it still goes well. it cost me 20 dollars. as i am an enthusiast about Radio controlled cars such as you mentioned i use this heavily and rely on it. great little gadget.
Note; the little red connectors with the two pins are called "Deans" connectors. they can carry lots of current. I think they can do 80A constant. the little black connector with the silver tip is for charging "glow plug ignitors". a quick search on the internet will tell you more information. :)

Through some research I have learned that it is necessary to calibrate the cheaper imitation charger. You have to test the battery voltage with a voltage meter, and adjust the voltage reading on the charger so they are the same. There are good instructionals out there. Thanks for the video.

i dont know if some one has said already but quite a lot of people seam to mis usd this charger, on the set up menue you need to select lion from options lipo, liphoshate etc depending on version, but lion charges to 4.1 and discharges to 2.5v, by default the unit using lipo by defalut is probably safer as discharging to 2.5 v can kill a lipo.

    • @MyPlayHouse

Looks a good charger, it doesn't stop then start, the display due to lack of space alternates between the voltage it is and the voltage it will finish at. the 4.20 is the voltage it will charge to and the lower number is the voltage it is at at that moment. I went all out and purchased 2 x team orion touch pro duo chargers but their screens have glitches often whereas these look great

Thanks for the video it convinced me to buy one. It might be cheap and chinese but still better than my old even cheaper chinese charger. Fyi in lipo mode it wont discharge lower than 3v as it is dangerous to battery life AND YOU because lipos can explode ir catch fire below 3v

i got the non AC version one.
the problem with clones is the accuracy of the voltage reading, mine is off by over 0.2V which is a big deal for li-ion & lipo.
there are forum where people trying to recalibrate the clone endup killing the charger and the really expensive lipo.
i endup getting the genuine skyrc one which cost almost twice but its worth it in long run.

Hello mister Hjorth, I have started to gather all information I would need to try and build my own batterypack for my Italian style electrical scooter (Brandname: Ebretti).
And now I need, just like you a 48 volt pack.
I've read that one needs to multiply the voltage of each cell so I started to count the ones in your string, wich looks like 16 cells but when I make the sum : 16x3,7v I get 59,2v coult you tell me why this is. like I wrote I just started with this an I,m thankfull for all info.

Considering the price, you get a pretty good value for your money, especially in electronics.
    Made in China.
When it comes to products that are not solid state electronics, they just fail quite quickly:
    Poor workmanship.
    Mechanical faulty design.
    Low tolerance.
    Faulty wiring.
    Insufficient bulk materials.
I just fixed a kettle, whose base electric terminals, were connected by clipping a paper thin copper to the terminal. Poor mechanical connections.
They just don't build things to last.
The Americans build things to last. Top quality. You buy something made in the USA, and it would last a lifetime. You actually save money, because it lasts. You buy it only once.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David Yeefrach
You are making a bit of an unfair comparison here,, You do not get the well made Chinese stuff in the US,, and if you do, it will often be Branded and claim to be assembled in the USA. If You compare a $10 Chinese screwdriver to a $20 US made screwdriver,, they wa likely 50p vs. $5 to make. We get the bad Chinese quality, because we really do not want to pay for it.

Probably a Terrible Fraud Copy of the Product. The Real one should be labeled "SKYRC" *The Original Creator

My PlayHouse oh i see, Thank you for replying in a fast (somewhat) manner. Also I need one of those suckers to see my voltages of laptop batteries.

OK My experiences. I bought one, it had problems after some weeks the power source did not work (which could be repaired by my friend, you should see how that laptop power source is implemented in the charger ... rather primitiv)
I wrote the seller they sent me another one for half the price. Both had very thin 220V cable both broke after 2-3 mothes but that could be changed. Since that one of the chargers does not fill up the batteries stops about halfway, another seems to be working but I just lost my confidence in the whole thing anyway I got a lot of lipo's now so I started to fill them up paralel, which is GREAT and for that you need a lot stronger charger anyway.
So I bought a G-T.Power 200W charger with a separate DC power source (what I build myself using an LED power source). The whole thing is not much more expensive and a LOT-LOT better!!!!! I can charge six lipos paralel saving lot's of time. If you are serious about RC modelling you will have more lipo's after a while anyway...

i have genuine and fakes, there all poor and dangerous due to bad factory calibration.
whichever you have re-flash it to a better firmware that allows you to calibrate as often as you want, and learn how to calibrate etc

My PlayHouse I guess my point is that the original SkyRc brand itself is established in Shenzhen China. Yes i understand its a Chinese copy of a Chinese brand However its funny to label it as made in china when everthing authentic or not from knock off to 5000 dollar name brand led Tv is made in China. i can spend more money on the most expensive higher end item at best buy and it will still be made in china.
