Radio controlled boat powered by a windmill. Can sail on any point of the compass, including directly against the wind. Full details on www.sailwings.net
I want one! :) Is there a mechanism to control the angle of attack of the windmill blades? It would be even more cool if it had a way of changing gear.
this would be less efficient than using a normal yacht with the same aerodynamic surface area, because motors, propellers and gears are all less than 100% efficient.
Not so, because you have to take gearing into account. The speed of each rotor blade is faster than the speed of the yacht. Therefore you have mechanical advantage (leverage). Also normal yacht can't go directly to windward.
I'm astounded at how many people cannot grasp the way this works. I hope you don't get discouraged but keep working on this!
The concept itself is very cool. But is there data in its efficiency in compare with those just using sails, or the "wing-sail" stuffs?

Very cool
Super cool! I wanna make one & I want to know how

Yea, cool and eco friendly. Why always talk about efficiency!
