- Wildlife photographer Brad Josephs managed to capture footage of a lifetime as he recorded two ferocious bears going at each other for almost 10 minutes.
The video filmed in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska, shows swiping and biting at each other whilst balancing on their hind legs.
Intimidating roars can be heard as the wrestling match for dominance climaxes.
Josephs told Newsflare: "Two giant male Alaska brown bears battle for mating season dominance on the coast of Alaska.
"The newcomer steals meadow dominance from the original male."
This video was filmed in June 2022.

This is also a very long battle. These scuffles are usually decided very quickly but neither of them wanted to give up dominance. Incredibly powerful creatures.
Not particularly true!…bear fights last relatively long compared to other large predators like cats
@@Ntwadumela89 yes, in comparison to large cats maybe... But bears do not unnecessarily expend calories. This won't be the last fight they're going to get into in their lifetime. They would much rather use the energy to forage or hunt depending on the time of year.
I mean, if u watch professional martial artists go at it, such as Conor McGregor, or Israel Adesanya, they all can go for 25 minutes straight at a decent pace, so I would think bears could go on for half a day lol
@@404GamingCrew Yes, “could”. But the reality is ability to fight for a long time vs necessity. They don’t fight to the death, and the don’t fight to entertain an audience for monetary gain. @@harry_sii they aren’t hoarding their energy that hard that they’ll stop fighting just to save energy. Seemed to me like the loser wanted to be done a lot sooner but the bigger bear kept going at him. The dominant bear wanted to teach him a lesson.
The stamina, the raw power, and the brutality, that they're able to give and take is just unbelievable, what a video
While watching this incredible battle, I thought about how long an average hockey fight lasts, which, I’m guessing, is somewhere between 30 sec, and 1 min. If it’s an equal back & forth fight, and they don’t fall down, the refs will get between them to break it up. So no one gets hurt, they wait until they’ve tired themselves out, then separate them. In that regard, this bear fight is just insane, with the variables of size, strength, stamina, etc. involved for one of them to win it. Nature is f-ing crazy sometimes.

@@renacleerican7824 Completely false. First Siberian male Tigers usually average between 600-650 lbs.with a few getting up to 700 lbs. The biggest ever caught and weighed in the wild was at 749 lbs. The biggest Russian male Brown Bears on the other hand have been 900-1,600 lbs. with a few monsters near the 2,000 lb mark. There are documented cases where male Tigers have preyed on very small sows or cubs, but, NO ONE in their right minds would EVER suggest male Tigers have EVER killed BIG BOARS (male Bears). There is not even ONE documented case of a male Tiger killing a HEALTHY male Bear, not one. There are a few videos and researchers on TH-cam who have travelled to the Ussurian region and have worked with wildlife officials, and there are individuals who have studied records made by officials who research Bear-Tiger interations and there have been absolutely no reports of healthy male Tigers hunting, or attacking the much larger and powerful healthy male Bears. In fact, I read reports of male Tigers stalking MUCH smaller Bears (like yearlings and very small females) but avoiding big male Bears like the plague. Physical altercations between the two usually ended with the male Tiger running for dear life from the big male Bear, or ending up being killed by the bigger Bear. Even FEMALE Bears can grow to be much bigger than the male Tiger. These falsehoods are usually spread by overzealous Tiger fanatics who throw all truth and facts out of the window to promote exaggerrated claims about the Tiger's prowess. These falsehoods are nowhere near reality.
@@mauricehumphrey545no one I’m their right mind would claim any big cat could kill any type of brown bear that’s a large healthy male. Still tigers have been able to kill and eat the weak and the smaller bears and usually they ambush the bear. A tiger usually hunts adult bears of other subspecies like sloth bears but not any of he brown bear subspecies that’s a healthy mature male. Brown bears and polar bears are much larger and stronger than any feline alive today and a healthy mature male could easily kill any feline be it tiger or lion. Again when people talk about tigers killing brown bears it’s usually the old, weak, and or sick bears or the vulnerable like cubs and the most impressive tiger specimens might kill a rather small female. A big male would easily shred any tiger or any other big cat within seconds.

If that bear rears up to that eight foot plus height with that massive 900+ mass and grabs your ass. . . It's lights out.
So amazing. You can literally see the basic fundamentals of wrestling in how they fight. The way they get that forward momentum and follow through with the takedown. The way they get to a side and drive through.
Would it be far-fetched to suggest that maybe the earliest fundamentals wrestling came from watching animals fight like this?

How is no one talking about how similar their style of combat is to competition wrestling. From the way they lock arms, to the way they spread out their weight and lower their centre of gravity to throw off the other opponent's balance and gain footing. This is incredible to watch. I've seen videos like this before, but nothing like this and in this quality. Nature is truly the best teacher, what an unbelievably fascinating display of raw power and intelligence by these impressive creatures. Thank you so much for sharing this!

I think the thing that stands out the most to me, is the lack of roaring, and vocalization that makes these battles iconic. There's no intimidation. Just pure prehistoric power on display. The primal instinct of two of the lost powerful creatures ever. Amazing bro.
Too bad its muddled by dumbass comments
Dude 9 minutes of these two going at it is insane.
These are just incredible creatures
Yeah, they never shut up, it's frightening. Almost like two old women at lunch
Fight is lasting so long they will become brothers in battle. They respect each other.
I'm amazed at how quiet they are. Outside of some huffing, puffing and snorting they don't make much sound. I expected a lot of roaring. Spectacular!
This is actually one of the few times you’ll hear bears roar. They hardly ever do.

Well humans are the weakest and least athletetic animal,.so of course animals will have a.better physical performance in battle as they have immense physical advantages, explosive power beyond human understanding, macine like durability, they fight through pain given their high levels.of adrenaline, the list goes on and on.
@Mars There's a reason why humans are the most dangerous predator on the planet. We aren't very strong, or very fast, but we can run pretty much forever when in shape, and have the highest intelligence of all the animal kingdom here. That's how our ancestors hunted, track prey and run them down to exhaustion.
The bite to the back and head shake was just brutal - and the bear just shook it off to continue fighting . Absolute raw power snd GREAT photography 💪🏽👏🏽
Fella got absolutely raked directly across the face and didn't even flinch
Going straight for the spine and swinging full force while biting is so unbelievably brutal.
And the fact that it's fur, fat and bone seemed to somewhat withstand that vicious assault is unbelievable. Perhaps it was just adrenaline and the bear will actually struggle with its wounds later but remaining standing for the victor to walk off is a praiseworthy feat unto itself.

@@MbisonBalrog they clearly bit eachother big time
They do bleed sometimes and break teeth, but generally their hide is so think there isn't anything major. It's mostly a grappling match until one submits. One would have to have gotten the other to complete exhaustion to kill it since they were so evenly matched. That's different when there's a massive full grown male vs a young, small male. Those can end up with kills.
Yea I wonder if a bear can bleed out. The winner had blood running down his back legs from the bites to the top middle of his back. Then that bear went mad, WOW!!
@@Toolness1 You must have fought bears yourself to have all this knowledge
I’m honestly having trouble comprehending how that possibly went on for so long.. such a massive release of energy from both sides. How could they possibly have the stamina for that?
Or why they persisted? There's little point to kill the other, yet the loser looks like he could die from blood loss. Both could die from shock plus exhaustion. Whew. Far outside the world I wish evolution could have settled on.
@@prototropo You think bears think like humans lol?
Bears can outlast horses.
@@prototropo Evolution doesn't "settle" on solutions. Evolution is the epitome of survival of the fittest. The fittest of the bears will successfully pass on their genes.
