Like your style. The Weaverton Cliffs climb as a 1st day is no joke. FYI, most people start further south cause of the weather. Although there is the "AQUAMAN" from Maine that started in January from Katahdin headed south. I saw snow in May, 2020 in Pennsylvania, so enjoy the experience. BCM

Thanks! We’re currently in the Swatara National Park in Pennsylvania and it has been trying to snow all day. Very cold but we’re still loving it! I’m looking forward to the weather improving though.
Its been a pretty good start to our hike. Once I got over the first hill and the first hour, things improved 😀

Just found out about your channel. I am so happy to follow you. I was supposed to flip flop this year, but my husband needed a couple of surgeries, I am home. Welcome! Hike On - Happy Trails.

Great start to your flip flop/thru hike. A clasic start at Harpers Ferry into Maryland / MD. this Yank is gonna follow you as it is a treat to see the trail thru the eyes of those from another country.
Not a criticism but I worry about Joe's huge pack. Be safe. Have fun.

Missing you guys already but loving the enthusiasm! There is such a spring in Joe's step! I'm really happy for you both that it's finally real and happening for you. Much love from home.

We miss your company. I’ve dreamt about your spicy mushroom soup many times. Joe is very perky and getting increasingly hairy. We’ll see how long that lasts. Getting the videos done is a bit of a mission but it should get faster. On another note, I’ve just had the best smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel for breakfast. I’m clearly obsessed with food.

Thanks John. It was a bit long but I’m going to try to be more concise …. but I’m making no promises 😂 Thank you for your encouraging words.

I’m liking your videos so far! I live 2 hrs from the Maryland AT and I’m actually hiking it next weekend. I’m loving seeing it from a Kiwi perspective. It makes it seem more magical. Thank you so much!

Great smiles and sense of humor! And I have to say, I love your Aarn packs - a rare sight in the States, but I am doing my part to spread the news of how great they are - I will be rocking my Aarn pack on the AT in the Great Smokies in July.

We love our Aarns! I can keep all of my useful stuff and get to it without opening my pack. And - it’s so comfortable.

Wow big first day! I did a section around there earlier this year so it was fun to see you both experience it.

We are loving watching your adventure Joe and Bridgey.. I feel a bit guilty watching from my warm, flat bed 😳 take care and keep your eyes peeled for the muma bear and baby (Marley would like to see them) 😘

I’m kind of torn about the bear - I’d love to see them but not too close xxx

Enjoying following your adventures. Thank you for sharing! I'm from the UK and starting my FF from HF on 27 April so it's super helpful to see the terrain/shelters/springs etc in your videos. Probably never going to catch you up, but going to be fun following two trailblazers up ahead of me on the trail. Happy travels, and hope the snow holds off! PS how easy is it to pitch on the gravel tent pads? Do your tent stakes go in/hold or do you have to rely on rocks??

I’m glad we can share our adventure with you. You’ll love when you get here - with the added bonus of it being warmer!
The tent pads are great and the stakes go into the gravel easily but need the added security of a rock if it’s windy.,
Flip flopping is perfect from Harpers Ferry - it is a really gentle ( relatively) introduction to the rigours of the Trail. And not crowded at all.
