We all enjoy the way you have edited your vids. You do a great job with voiceovers when the time is right & then give us time to just enjoy the quiet ride with you. I think "some" on ride conversations would be good. Maybe when someone in your group or yourself has a genuine reaction to a first-time experience, or if a possible hazard comes up & how the group handles it You could share those moments to show/help others. Just my opinion. Great quality & content on your channel. Thank you.
Just an FYI. The think this comment is spot on! I truly enjoy your video and the way you edit them and add voiceover and the sound tracks. A little of the ride conversations would be ok. Just don't go overboard with it... My 2 cents.
Can’t ride without my cardo. My whole riding group is on Cardos and it makes it that much more enjoyable talking smack and cracking jokes while riding and listening to tunes. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to the edge but it’s hard to justify when our cardo packtalk bolds are in perfect working order.
PLEASE Matt.. No on ride conversations. The format of all of your videos is spot on, each being very cinematic. There are plenty of other videos if you want to hear conversations when riding. STAY AS YOU ARE Matt. 🤘
@MattLaidlaw, to cut the group off of com and want to speak to passenger only, do you have to have your phone handy? Or can you do voice prompt to do so?
Been using the Cardo Packtalk since the Black version. The 45 mm speakers are a game changer and I can hear music through my full blocking earplugs clearly. I had the Sena Harmon Kardon speakers on my other helmet but sound starts to distort at higher volumes.
Perfect timing on the Cardo review, you made up my mind and I'm choosing Cardo. I have the same helmet as you Matt, and I'm getting my wife a Neotec 3. Cycle Gear will install this for free if you purchase coms and helmets from them. I also prefer the voiceover, but I'll continue to watch your videos voiceover or not. Thanks for the tutorial and demo.
You can go into the app and adjust the volume of the Cardo voice as well. She would blow my ears off when she talked even though my music volume was lower. Great Com unit!!
Your videos are great as is, I think ride conversations would ruin the cinematic feel you give your videos. Plus I enjoy the voiceover you do with yours. That's just my opinion though. I have the Cardo Packtalk Edge on my helmet and love it. The only downside I would say is that when getting phone calls, the ring volume is ear splitting loud. I've tried adjusting the volume separately from the music but still can't get it consistent. But overall the positives outweigh the one negative.
Please Matt, No on ride conversations. I've lost interest in watching other popular motorcycle oriented channels because of their excessive on ride conversations. I much prefer your voice over format and your crew having conversations while not riding.
I’ve never used a comm until I bought my 23 CVO. I don’t know why I waited so long. All my riding friends have used them for a while. And I like the magnetic connection of the main unit to the dock.
Good video Matt. I sure wish HD would make up their minds on which brand they want to support. For a long time it was Sena and now its Cardo. These units aren't exactly cheap. I'm sure the moco would love you to switch brands every few years but I can do a lot more to my bike with $500 then slapping on the latest "branded" HD comm headset. I mean lets face it, right now Cardo prob has the edge but Sena and Cardo are both very good options. I'm sure the next Sena release will be better than Cardo and then Cardo will have to chase Sena. Competition is good for performance and features but not price. What bothers me about these HD units is they kind of "force" you to buy their brand for the latest bike if you want all of the features to work - at least thats what they used to do. I have a '19 UL and you don't get stereo sound on your headset unless you have the HD branded Sena. They need to seriously knock that $hit off and let ppl buy whatever brand they want and allow ALL of the features to work with EVERY bike.
The sena is still a good unit and works with the new bikes. It’s what I was running before the Cardo. I do prefer the new Cardo though. I need to do some research and see if there are features withheld if you don’t buy the branded version. At this point I’m not aware of any.
Good video, thanks. I had the Harley Sena + whim on my prior bike. All of my fellow riders have Sena mesh. My new 2024 RG and Cardo cannot communicate with my friends since the mesh is different. I put my Sena in my bar bag and start the mesh. I then Bluetooth from Cardo to my Sena to participate in the comms of the group. It’s not a good connection and you have to forfeit any music since the Bluetooth trumps the connection. If I connect Cardo to Skyline it’s great but no friend comms. Was going to go back to a new HD Sena for my 24 RG but Harley has already stopped offering them on the website.
Great post! Brandon’s heavy breathing on comms 🤔…. Maybe not 😅. Hey I note that a Pro version of the Cardo system is out, so have two Qs: Do you have to buy the HD version to get all the functionality? Do you think HD versions will keep pace new model releases? 👍
I don’t believe you have to buy the HD version to get all the functionality. I’m not sure though. I’ll post a comment to update when I find out. No, HD is t going to have very version of the Cardo they come out with moving forward.
Is this better than the Sena system you switched from? Also - some conversations in the video would be cool - especially if they're funny! Otherwise, you do a pretty good job with the voice overs.
Thanks for the feedback. I like the intercom system DMC on the Cardo much better. The other functions are similar. I do like the modularity of the speakers better than the sena. The battery life is better on the Cardo as well.
Have the same Shoei neotec 2 helmet as you, and the packtalk bold system. How did you manage to get the long mic boom so long into the helmet? Johnny Haugaard, Denmark 🇩🇰
I guess I just positioned it further forward towards the front of the helmet. It wasn’t a perfect fit. Also if you’re looking at the mic in the Tennessee footage that’s not the Cardo. That’s a sena.
Matt, Im adding my opinion to the mix... I feel like adding a little of the group chat to see how it goes but not for the entire video. You do such a great job on your vids! Just sayin' it ain't broke... why fix it?
Does listening to music use a lot of the charge on the cardo? How long in general does the charge last like if you’re just using it for directions or talking to other riders?
good stuff. does Harley still sell the WHIM? I've always had Cardo, but I know on the old WHIMs the Cardo would only play in mono. any chance new WHIMs would be updated to be Cardo friendly?
On the new Road Glide and Street Glides (and CVOs) there is no need for a WHIM. The bikes come ready to pair wirelessly. Also, I believe you can run a non-HD branded headset and still have stereo quality.
Two points I would like to bring to your attention Matt. One, what is the difference between a H-D Cardo and the Amazon Cardo versions. Does the H-D offer any additional benefits ? Secondly, H-D owners should be made aware that the H-D cardo does not play well at all with prior models of Booms GTS with WHIM. Those owners need to stick to SENA branded communicators. I know because I own a FLHTK2019 with Boom GTS + WHIM and trying to pair the HD. Cardo 4X to the bike for full CarPlay experience and passenger communication was a disaster. Had resort to finding a SENA 50S, now discontinued, now all works really well. You have a pre 2024, stick to SENA. You have a 2024 going forward, stick to Cardo.
Matt - your mic sounds much more "tin can" compared to Nick's. Can you share what mics each of you are using? If they are the same mic, then maybe it has more to do with mic position inside the helmet.
Yea they are the exact same mic. I think it matters a lot when my chin guard was pulled up on my modular. It sounds better when the mic is behind a full face.
@MattLaidlaw check how far away from his mouth he had his and where it was mounted. I noticed yours pointed straight out between the cheek pad and the frame of the helmet. That might be too far from your mouth to get great quality audio. Also make sure your mic was pointing the correct direction - the Cardo mics have a direction indicator on one side. That side of the mic needs to face your mouth 👍🏻👍🏻
There's always on guy in the pack with a modular helmet flipped up. Then everyone in the rest if the pack has to get their music interrupted by his hot mike.
Pretty cool but that’s an awful lot of distraction depending on the user. I prefer to just listen to the bike or my music. That’s a huge dealership it’s as big as our Costco. 🙄 which is one reason the HD bikes are so expensive.
Personally I’d say keep the shared conversations minimal. Maybe throw just a couple convo highlights in. I like your videos for the scenery and your occasional commentary. I think a lot of rider to rider would pollute it up too much. Maybe highlights or if there were a weird/different situation and how everyone reacted. I’d say minimal on ride convos!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I will use it sparingly if any
I agree with this comment - sparingly when it "fits" the moment.
Agreed! It's fun to converse with your crew. As long as you don't have any annoying people.
PLEASE Matt.. No on ride conversations. The format of all of your videos is spot on, each being very cinematic. There are plenty of other videos if you want to hear conversations when riding.
STAY AS YOU ARE Matt. 🤘
Thanks for the feedback!

That’s an AWESOME HAT!!! I need that in my life .
Love the Cardo Edge. Just connects and works so well!!
Been using the Cardo Packtalk since the Black version. The 45 mm speakers are a game changer and I can hear music through my full blocking earplugs clearly. I had the Sena Harmon Kardon speakers on my other helmet but sound starts to distort at higher volumes.
I might have to upgrade to the better speakers. Thank you

The Neo Tech 3 is nice!! I tried one on yesterday. Live that helmet
Nicely done Matt! I’m sold 👏🏽
Haha Thanks Mickey. You're first comment. Congrats
@@MattLaidlaw when Matt drops a video, I drop everything and watch it.
Awesome video Matt! I think some inside banter on the vid wouldn’t be a bad idea…but you can’t beat that Matt Laidlaw video narration 👊🏼
Morning coffee and Matt‘s video. Great! 😎👍
Hey Matt. Really good review. Voiceover 80%. Group chat/ride talk 20%.
Cool, thanks!
You can go into the app and adjust the volume of the Cardo voice as well. She would blow my ears off when she talked even though my music volume was lower. Great Com unit!!
Not sure about the magnet mount, mine snaps/locks in nice. Love the cardo.
Definitely be good to here some of your comms and get an idea of best practice in a group and the enhancement of the ride.
Trip com's would be great Matt. Looking forward to it on your next ride.
Already got the Christmas lights up, Nice!

You can probably get a sena in dealers still. I know we have some left on the shelves.

I want to know about what you are using for your GoPro mount around your wrist, also is this the newer more “budget friendly” cardio?
Is this better than the Sena system you switched from? Also - some conversations in the video would be cool - especially if they're funny! Otherwise, you do a pretty good job with the voice overs.

do a video on pairing an edge to the 50s. I think there's a way to bring them into your headset then it broadcast on DMC to the rest of the group.
You’re holding a recording device in your left hand…and I assume that it connects to the bike in some way…what is it?
do you need to purchase the first set of microphone and headphones separately or included in box?
Does listening to music use a lot of the charge on the cardo? How long in general does the charge last like if you’re just using it for directions or talking to other riders?
We didn’t specifically test this.
Sometimes I find myself singing or just saying stupid things when riding. The mute is definitely appreciated.
Haha. In those circumstances, yes, that would be good.
Does the Cardo work with WHIM or only on the new infotainment system?
Didn’t Harley start with the freecom? I use the freecom what’s the difference? Maybe do a video on them as well.
What device are you using to record from the bikes perspective?
we still use CB, I have 5 sena units that are in a box
good stuff. does Harley still sell the WHIM? I've always had Cardo, but I know on the old WHIMs the Cardo would only play in mono. any chance new WHIMs would be updated to be Cardo friendly?

@@MattLaidlaw thanks, I was curius about the WHIM for use on a '21 Road Glide Special.
So will any cardo work with Harley systems?

What if you don’t have Apple CarPlay just the Harley system?
So you charge it off the helmet? And how long does the charge last?
I listen to music via my phone & it lasts a full day of riding. I do turn it off at lunch stops etc.
That helmet looks odd sticking up in the air…and is that a legal thing to ride with it that way?
Nick, is that a new exhaust on your PA?
Any thoughts on a advant LS2 type modular helmet and use with the cardo?
What recording devices are being used on the side of the helmets?
Hey Nick, did you have your cardo hooked up through your Pan Am?
He will probably chime in but I don’t believe he did. I think he just went directly to his phone and kept the bike out of it.
Wow ur letting that camera dangle on your wrist?
Sportglide best Harley ever
😆

That’s a huge dealership it’s as big as our Costco. 🙄 which is one reason the HD bikes are so expensive.
No ride conversation please
That Green heritage looks alright!
Within the first minute…every reason I don’t run coms, lol.
I have the Harley one, but I have a 21 Road Glide limited so it doesn’t pair to the bike. I didn’t know that it only pairs to the new Harley models

Why are these units SO HUGE?? There's no reason for it.
No ! We’re good. It’s was boring enough. Try selling bikes instead
