I’ve been seriously torn between the Super 73 S2 and the Pedal Electric AWD III for months…. Both have gone up in price but I’m leaning Pedal Electric (dual motor, full suspension, turn signals, locking feature, dual rider and includes foot pegs and rear rack…but the price is stiff, but more importantly I can’t find any legitimate 3rd party reviews of that one - would absolutely love to see that as I think it beats the S2 and possibly even the super 73 R Brooklyn…surprisingly This ride1Up Revv1 looks like a legit competitor for a lot less but I’d still love to see you review the pedal electric AWD III - maybe your review will blow up because it seems to be off the radar!
Thanks for another great video. I recently bought a Revv1. Let me start by saying that I very much like this bike. Small problems can be very frustrating and detract from overall enjoyment. 1. Chain keeps coming off the tensioner sprocket. Told that the chain was too short from factory and sending me a longer one. Seems unlikely that this will fix the misalignment. 2. Throttle has too much play before engaging motor. Support said this was normal and can not be adjusted. 3. Owners Manual does not include suspension adjustment info. Also incorrect procedure to turn on lights. 4. Speed indicated on the display shows 5 mph fast. 5. When discussing these issues with support, they repeatedly asked for more and more photos and videos to be sent them. No offer to have someone locally assist with the repair and or adjustments. Also no return phone call. This is not a cheap bike and customer service should be much better. Disappointing follow up from support.
I bought this ebike because of this review. I used your link to go to the site when I made my purchase. Hope you got credit for it. Thanks for the review. I watched a number of your other reviews, and was about to decide on an Aventon when I saw this video. I also purchased a hich carrier so I can carry it on my Jeep. I offroad by myself pretty regularly. I have one of those satelite emergency communicators if I really get into trouble, but it's more likely I'm not injured but my Jeep is unrecoverable. Now I'll have something I can ride out on. I faced this scenario once before. I'd have probably had a 4-hr walk out. Fortunately I got creative with my winch and pulleys and managed to free my Jeep, but I learned my lesson. Again, thanks for your review.
This is a great bike. Good review! I too would like to see a hill climb! Adding a battery to be mounted low would be an option, even if you had to swap them when one ran low! At 35+ miles an hour this would be a good long distance travel bike.
I have a horn on my e-bike that's fairly loud as well from the factory. Trust me, it doesn't do shit. It's like half the population is on 20cc's of Thorazine they are so zombie like. I'm looking into getting one of those refillable air horns just to see if they can come out of their stupor long enough so as not to get hit by me or a car. Those Airzounds air horns are like double a car horn and you get a good 15 1 second blasts out of a refillable tank. However if you carry around a small electric bike pump you could keep it pumped indefinitely.
I need to see a review with a hill test. I live in san francisco and there are very steep hills so I need to know if I can get up those or will I have to get a grizzly
I have a super 73 RX. Bought it 3 years ago or so, but they are full of themselves now with their pricing. Good to see other companies enter the playing field and compete with affordable prices. And yes… hill climb test please! Oh, and what are the seat heights of each iteration?
Yes hill climb test please. I had made a final decision to purchase the ariel rider grizzly until I found this revv1 today. Definitely need a real life mileage test as well.
Yes, please do a hill test. I live in a hilly city with grades between 15 to 30. This is a nice offering for me but only if it can make it up the hill.
Great review. Yours have to be the most complete and most consistent reviews I have seen to date. I do have a question regarding the lack of hill test in this video. You said you couldn't do the hill test because of being in Florida. I'm going to assume that has to do with the speed of the bike. Which begs to question. What would prevent you from doing the hill test if the bike is set to class 2 and the bike was sent to you as a class 2? Thank you and I look forward to your response.
This has got me interested. Yes, I’d like a hill test. It’s a feature that I look for. I also like to see head to head comparisons. The Ariel Rider X comes to mind.
Ariel Rider X52 is the most obvious competition. It has the same price, but the tires are not as good. I like that the Ariel rider can also have a step through frame with the lower center of gravity. There is no point to put the battery up so high on this. It is nice though, that they have an accessory where you can make use of that wasted space in the middle of the frame. Why didn’t they put the battery low, too low the center of mass, and put a locking trunk up higher, where it’s handy?
Agreed - I imagine most will be looking at both of these ebikes. Interesting point on the battery, I certainly like the look. As you mentioned it might just be a tradeoff of having storage space.
I’m also interested to hear whether you can FEEL that the motor on the X52 has 33% more power? Top speed are similar. Is the controller choking the Ariel back?
Is either this or the Ariel rider x class 52v..the x class got everything I love except the cheesie bell which should be a horn and the spoke wheels..this bike comes close to what I want in a moped style ebike..well except for the metal fenders and only one speed..a rear rack would of been nice too..
Great video. What would be the direct rival for this relative to power output, battery, and torque? Or maybe one step higher for around $2500. Would you be able to upgrade to a more powerful battery in the future if you wanted one with more longevity? How interchangeable are batteries between e-bikes?
Does anyone have experience with carrying a passenger on this? Also wondering about brake pad life. Any feedback on how often they’d need replacement? I’m looking to upgrade from a RR+. Thanks
I like bicycles but this moped thing would be a nice choice for me as a second EV. I would add height to the bars and the second battery for sure. But nice looking bike with some good touches. No rear rack might be a problem for me to resolve. Will be fun to watch what people do to add some rear cargo capacity. The center must be filled with battery in my opinion.
Being older and more of a purist I think I would enjoy the Wired Cruiser step through or the Wired Freedom dual suspension bikes more. Little faster and more power .. 60 Volt with 40 amp controllers on theirs. can't beat the 2k price on those brutes 😁
I just purchased the hard tail only because i think my son who is 10 currently can use it next year during the summer at age 12 and i think the hard tail is a better fit being small does anyone agree plus i will be riding till then or once he masters riding it safley let me know what u think
Yes. Not sure by how much. But the larger controller allows for more flow. Think of it like a hose and water. The bigger the diameter the hose is, the more water can flow. The same can be said for electricity. The larger the controller the more flow, the more power/speed you can get. (This is a very simple explanation, I know there is a lot more to this then that)
How many miles did you get with off road mode on and throttle only I ride about 25 miles a day round trip for work so it would be dead every day when I get home. How many charge cycles will it do? I think I might be asking a bit too much for this scooter.
We have not done a full range test, but Ride1Up estimates 30 miles, unclear if that is using off-road mode though. There is a dual battery option for this ebike, that would help your worry for range. This battery has Samsung cells, so not much worry there. Here is a quote from Ride1Up's website "Our batteries are rated for 800-1000 charge cycles. One cycle is counted as charging the battery from 0 percent to 100 percent".

I have never and would never jump through that many hoops, when I don't have to with other bikes. 👎🏾
@rodney evans I've bought 5 ebikes from 4 different companies, and none of them required me to either contact them OR sign a waiver to unlock it's full speed. And personally, I'd rather not put my name in an official database of people, which they can report (snitch) to whomever, "this is how many people are riding faster than 20 mph. It's only a matter of time before people are going to be speeding down bike lanes/paths with these and ruining it for everybody else. In my opinion the manufacturers are playing loose with the law, Knowing there is little enforcement.
How many times have you gone 50 in a 35 zone with a car? Your Chevy 450 HP beasts are just ruining the driving for the rest of us! The car manufacturers should be forced to produce only wimpy cars that only go 55 MPH. Jeff, we need more government control; bring on those FBI thugs.
I agree brother! Just make sure cars have a speed governor and are gps tracked so they can never go over the road's stated speed limit! Also might as well make sure road bikers can't use all that aerodynamic gear to pedal faster than 20mph too, just because speed kills!

There are quite a few differences between the two models, but we can highlight a few: The biggest, and most obvious, is the full suspension has both front and rear suspension, while the hardtail only has it in the front. Another big difference is the controller and battery. They are both a bit smaller on the Hardtail. The Hardtail will not be able to achieve the same speeds and distances.
