    As BlaBla mentioned, there are local labs and/or the local extension office that will do a soil test for you, for a fee (depending on what tests you want - for nutrients, pH, etc.). Master gardeners recommend this way to test your soil in your yard & garden. Another great video! And yes, you do talk fast, but you speak clearly. This older lady can always rerun the parts she missed! ;)

    I don't think we can get Espoma here in Australia. It's a shame because I'd love to know more. Laura, I have another question. Would you consider doing an advice blog, vlog, video thingy for people who are starting from scratch with their garden? We dug our front yard up over 5 months ago and are finally having water lines re run this spring and can finally start planting but I have no idea where to start. It is a flat 14m by 9m area. Trees first? Grass, rock, gravel, raised beds, shade, sun? I have no idea about any of it. I kill most plants but I LOVE to garden lol! I would appreciate advice.

    • @WestonNurseries
      @WestonNurseries 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Laura usually recommends you go directly to your local garden center or agricultural extension for advice, because conditions vary so much from region to region. It sounds like what you need is design help too. There are so many variables when it comes to horticulture that it's nearly impossible for one person to be an expert on everything - so start locally.

    Got a Q can't find anywhere answered.
    Nellie Stevens Hollies, spring time just pruned massively due to lanky limbs. (neighbor cut oak canopy back and they got full sun in the heat last year, didn't catch in time).
    When I apply the fertilizer now, in spring, WHERE IS MY DRIP LINE NOW? Do I want to reach the old roots that not longer have limbs as I just pruned them away? Or do I focus on the new drip line on the SVELT new trim holly drip line?
    And there isn't much leaves to drip to a drip line. At such a time of pruning do we proceed differently?

    I have 20 American Pillar Arborvitae and this year will be their 2nd fall in the ground. This spring I gave them some plant tone and they have grown about 3 feet since I planted them last fall making them about 5 feet tall now. My local garden center(not a big box store) recommended that I switch to holly tone and she said that I could give them some right about now(I'm in MA). My question that I failed to ask is how much Holly Tone for 5 foot tall arborvitae? Any help is appreciated...

    I would love for the folks to say something about Hollytone on both Chestnuts and pawpaws. Also on jujube too.
    I am planning on spending at least $1200 this year using this product on our orchards.
    We are a mid Missouri farm that uses no "chemicals" and until now have not done wide spread fertilization of the trees. Due to stress of the Japanese Beetle, I think they could use some help next year.
    The soil itself has given us some beautiful chestnuts and pawpaws, but maybe it's time for us to give back.
    Is it going to be much less effective if I broadcast this product over the soil surface....does the fertilizer tend to "gas off?" and get wasted that way? I am under the impression that I cannot buy wholesale from you and need to go though a national chain store for a pallet or two. I think I could use 50- 27# bags minimum.

    Laura, I tried all of the Espoma products last year because of your videos, which I love by the way. However, I had some very bad problems with 3 of their products and I could not get any help from them about the bad products. One of their service people e-mailed me and I told her about my problems and explained them to her. She had me send the receipts for the products, I bought 8 Espoma products and, at that time, had problems with two. She said that Espoma would refund me for them. That was several months ago. Last month, I e-mailed her again and she said she would check on it. Still no refund. I will no longer used any of the Espoma products. I was excited as a Texas Master Gardner to use organic materials, but will look for something else now. Just wanted you to know.

      Victoria Lynn yes, I just changed the playback speed to one above (as in slower) than normal. It sounds slightly echoey but it’s at a normal speed. I speak fast but even I thought it was incredibly too fast. And say that with respect too.

    • @GoodandDelicious
      @GoodandDelicious 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wait! I think there’s a glitch. So I slowed it down and then noticed that later on in the video it went too slow. I changed it back and restarted the video and now it’s waaay better.
