Hi Alison! Just a wee comment to tell you how much I love your videos 😊 I'm a nail technician and wanted to tell you you've got a grand wee technique going on! Defo better with thin coats, keeping your bottles away from your lamp so they don't cure (that's the technical name 😂😂😂 but "bakes" good too!) along with your nails & you were totally right about your base & polish coats needing to be sticky for adherence purposes!! The only wee tip I'd have for you is don't shake your bottles, it causes tiny air bubbles to form in the gels which can then start showing on your polished nails. What to do is hold the body of the bottle and move it so the polish goes to one side and sits for a second or 2 then the other side for the same amount and it'll be fine to use. Hope you don't mind me commenting & giving you a wee tip!! No harm meant! I'm really impressed with your technique 😉👌🏼 take care 💙
Amazing thank you, Leeanne, for the tip. I will rock it from now on, what about the glitter kind? I used Sensationails a lot but found Lavender Violets much easier to apply and quicker. daft thing is it was my daughter who bought me a bottle and said try this mum. Lovely red glitter polish so instead of buying more sensationails I got more of this. I have micro powder glitter from my daughter so i feel something crafty coming on with this.
What a great review. Thank you for being honest. I bought a few because it was the cheapest gel I saw and had good reviews but I'm glad I did buy it after this review. Cant wait to receive them.
Destiny, Like everything else it takes patience and practice to apply any polish the great thing is this stays wet so you can easily wipe around the edges if you make a mistake, do this before you set it under the light. Thin coats are better than thick as this is liquid too much will run off to the edges so thin coats are best with any polish. Most of all have fun experimenting with different colours. I love the colour change range they have too. I have just uploaded a video on how easy I remove this type of polish, You will need a bottle of ACETONE you can get this cheap from amazon and ebay.
Peggy, I really like this as there are fewer steps to applying the Lavender Violets brand, Base coat color coat then top coat. With my other brand, it was a primer, base coat, colour, top coat then wipe the top coat with little square lint-free wipes and a cleanser. Also, the lightbox is wider too.
I don't have a viable like now as the seller I used is no longer trading but you can still get the polish from Lavender violets website if you google it.
on the base of the bottle is a number but I don't know if it corresponds with the colours you could email lavender violets and ask if the have a free colour chart.
Hi Alison, great video. Just want to ask how long do the nail polish last in term of storing? Do the polish in the bottles dry out quickly? Thank you so much!
Iv had mine for a year and its all still brilliant you can see from my videos I use it a lot. I do remeove it more often than 4 to 6 weks because I do video tutorials and need to have diffrent nail polish on. Ha ha ha good excuse to chang it. I love their blues the best.
I'm just like you! Too expensive to get nails done, getting too expensive with the gel polish changes weekly at home (I get bored easily!!), and I love pretty nails! I have LV base, shiny top, and matte coats. Love all of those. The matte is really matte! So I guess it's time to buy some LV colors!! Thank you for a great video!!
I will tell you what I do if I only want a colour for a day or so or a few days, some frown on this bu,t it is fab for quick different colour days. i put the colour on first NO base coat. This way it PEELS off easily within a day or so I also help by soaking my fingers in some hand hot water. Don't make the water too hot don't burn your fingers. I just hand wash my dinner dishes in quite hot water then sit with a stick and peel of the polish. I will add, this is not the normal thing to do with this type of polish but I find if I do the base coat every time and change the polish within a few days for variety, all the acetone soaking and base coat makes my natural nails thin.
Yes, But in saying that if you want it to peel off faster you can do it without the base coat but it will only last a day or two and your nail might get stained with the polish colour.
I swear on my children's lives even my wee dog's life this blue polish was on for two weeks. I only removed it as I am doing another tutorial and wanted a different color. No chips no peeling in 2 full weeks. I did this review 2 weeks ago. It takes time to edit my tutorials so this polish was on longer by the time I posted the video. Even if you only get one color to try if you have other base and top coat at home you could always use that if you like it. I do recommend the top coat though as it is no wipe after curing. OH and Don't shake the bottles. I got that bit wrong and a lovely lady who does nails for a living pointed that out to me but we all live and learn don't we.
I’m just starting to get into doing nails, hopefully professional in the near future and I’m looking for some gel polishes to start off with, would you recommend both sets of these polishes? (The regular colours and the glitters) Thankyou!
Yes, definitely. The kits are a great selection of colours and the glitter one has various (how do I describe it?) Bits ha ha ha Some of the glitters is very fine some are bigger but all lay flat so you don't need loads of layers of top coat to make it smooth. Also one other point to the top coat is it wipes free you don't need a separate substance to wipe off the sticky layer as you do with some others AND if you are out at a party and they have UV lights which make white glow your fingernails don't look horrible and glow streaky like it did when I used to use sensationails brand. With the glitter use small quick strokes to build the glitter layers I find that works well and long even strokes for a single colour with no glitter.

thanks
For lavender violets, you don’t need to put a bonding primer under the base coat, right?
