This is completely outdated - the future is serverless and machine less - and OS less. Today, and in the future, you simply deploy your apps/functions, select CPU´s/speed, RAM memory, disk space, DB type, and replication. You DO NOT fiddle around with data centers, machines, OS installs etc.

Yeah! Yeah! Serverless, machine less, OS less... sure! It should work!

To have everything less, i think you at least need to have underline infra right?
This is for those people who ensures that you will have everything less :-)

Even for those cloud deployment you need the underlying infrastructure. VMware creates the exact tech that makes all that "less" possible! So yes if you wanted to host on your own private cloud with the similar feature set as aws provides you can do that too,for example an EC2 instance! You can host your similar cloud services with your own pricing and have your own customer base without them going to amazon for the same. This is great for medium enterprises who wants to provide datacenter services without investing on the hardware,by simply deploying their vmware cloud infra on aws infrastructure/hardware and provide the services to smaller enterprises! I hope you understand why you statement itself is so contradictory!
      Cheers!
