    I remember buying my first bike as an adult and seeing this video, it was a hard tail basic xc bike and I said well some day I am going to ride something like the men of the video is riding. It’s been 5 years and today it was my last ride on my hard tail, it has been a beautiful journey that I am never going to forget. Hello dropper post and front and rear suspension, we are going to enjoy this one.

    Like a dishwasher, nobody needs a dropper post, however, once you have one you can't imagine life without one.

      What a ridiculous statement. Humans only 'need' food, water, shelter and warmth. Whoever thumbed that up should stick their thumb up their ass.

    My new trail bike came with a dropper post, but after riding with it for a couple of months I ended up selling it and going with a normal seatpost, where I ride I just didn't really see the benefit of it, I'm probably quite accustomed to riding with my seat up too, the roughly 600 gram weight savings will offset the weight of some burlier dual ply all mountain tyres.

    kinda reminds me of desk chair height adjustment. I wonder if the technology is similar. If it was the same you'd get some shock absorption to kick making it even more worthwhile mod

    • @imranvp
      @imranvp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm a bit of a noob so forgive me for asking this question - Can the dropper post be used as a height adjuster? Meaning can I adjust the seat height on the fly.. using the remote and my weight for the adjustments? I'd prefer getting a dropper post just for that reason if that is possible rather than having to stop and manually adjust the seat height. Or am I wrong here and the only utility of a dropper post is for trail-riding so you can drop it down fully to get it out of the way and bring it back up once you cleared the obstacles.
      I guess what I'm asking is can the dropper post go down with different levels depending on how much I push it down with my weight (like a computer chair)? Or is it just max bottom and max spring back up?

    I'm going to need to invest in a dropper seatpost soon. I've only had my bike for about a month, but I can't pop a wheelie/manual or even practice jumping because my post is at the "correct" height and even at it's lowest setting, it's still too high for practicing a few tricks 🙄

    seems like added weight, cost and more to go wrong to me. Might be handy for some folks but a cheap, simple and effective QR clamp does the job for me. As I live in a rural area with only a few hundred yards of road and very few tracks or trails I spend most of my time wild biking over open landscape so the seat spends 90% of it's time low anyway. - For those that ride a mix of roads, tracks & trails a dropper post sounds like a good idea :-)

  • @infojreid

    i can confirm that you can run a stealth dropper on a canyon grand canyon hardtail internally, just open up the unused fd (if using 1x) route with a drill and fish it out by bb, looks very clean. I just didn't need it

  • @sixstanger00
    @sixstanger00 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I keep my saddle in the high position because being the Wal-Mart cheapo bike it is, it doesn't have a dropper, nor do I feel it could be fitted with one. However, I've learned to work around the saddle; on steep descents I pretty much clutch the saddle between my legs.
    One of these days, I'm obviously gonna have to get a better bike, but I have to admit to becoming attached to my 26" Granite Peak; I've rode that thing for a whole year over 1000 miles; just can't part with it until it breaks. haha

    Hey guys. Could you do a video about "how to cope with overshooting a jump".
    I think when people ride a gap jump for the first time, they are concerned about coming up short and casing it, leading to people excessively clearing it. Also if you are riding a chain of jumps and one is shorter than the previous and you know your going to land on the flat, what do you do? Do you land back wheel first? I heard this stresses the forks alot. Cheers guys!

    So on a dropper post, the only setting is how far the base goes down in your seat tube? There's no setting for how much it extends when released? I ask because say a bike comes new with a dropper post, and you have the base down into the seat tube as far as it will go, but the seat is too high for you ride normally when fully extended, then what?

    • @123duin

Dropper post is useful but why it cost so much money just for that bike part? Even though to me, I can ride without it comfortably.. I'm not being negative but for the price, not so worth it compared to brake and RD parts.. Peace! :D

    So I have a reverb and noticed that when the seat is low and you pull it back up without pushing the lever it actually goes up then goes back down (kind of like a trombone). Not really an issue but I was wondering if this behavior is normal or if something is wrong with mine

      Never pull on a Reverb when it is not extended. You've likely worn out the seals, and are only doing more damage to them as you do it.
      Not exactly your fault, but they are by far the least reliable "big brand" dropper out there.

    I'm new to this, please help, wean the Dropper Post is fully extended, it should be on the correct height, or should o leave some margin to adjust to a higher position? Thanks.

      Imagine going mountain biking in your office chair. Now ask yourself, will your office chair's lift mechanism hold up to those forces?
