There's one hole in your theory: Lapras states that he came to wigglytuff because he couldn't watch end not help the wounded chatot. Lapras is always waiting at Brine Cave, waiting for someone to use the fragment. But it doesn't mean that Lapras only comes out when you use the fragment. He has a mind of his own after all.
Actually, from what I've read, there are many Pokemon fans that like this series. They say that it has the best soundtracks, stories of the franchise, and enjoy the gameplay.
The ending of Sky made me tear up. It is by far my favorite Pokémon game. Even when I spawned in those monster houses and died to a bs crit. It was nice relive the storyline. Thank you.
idk though. the stone isn't really needed to summon lapras. remember lapras says that he has to hide himself, but when he saw chatot dying he couldn't stand idly by. I also thought the fragment acted independently of dialga, a backup plan for a chosen hero to get to the hidden land in case of emergency. the partner claims he doesn't know where he got it, which means it was probably a long time ago (or the scriptwriters didn't want to come up with a subplot on the partners finding of the stone) which means it's rather unlikely it was given by wigglytuff, as he might not have ever known the partner, or even met lapras at the time.
I find it more likely that Bidoof's wish caused the Relic Fragment to be found by the partner. Because we know for a fact that the wish was the reason that the player and partner joined the guild. That way Bidoof would be the true savior of the story. And the only way Wigglytuff would have known about the partner needing the fragment was if he traveled trough time himself, which is never hinted at in the game.
but what if Bidoof's wish caused the time gear crisis in the first place? Disturbances in the flow of time aren't mentioned at all before he makes his wish...
@@kingthorgrim1591 could be true but remember the darkrai could've killed bidoof had saved you with his wish so basically he bidoof made an alternate timeline
@@PotatotheTroll yeah because it simply didn't happen yet, as Grovyle didn't start stealing the gears yet, probably still in the future with you as a human
please don't make it like GTI please don't make it like GTI please don't make it like GTI please don't make it like GTI please don't make it like GTI please don't make it like GTI
madison brown Even though GTI was the worst PMD game in my opinion, it was still a fun playthough. I think it'd be better to at least have a fun playthrough like GTI than no game at all.
It definitely deserves a replay I was like 11 or 12 when i first played so I knew it was good, but I didnt realise how good it really was until I replayed it being much older
@@rickshiandmoku4128 same!! I played now That Im older. Last time I played it I was 12 years old too! Now Im 20 and replayed it and realized it really is awesome!
Explorers of Sky truly was and is the masterpiece of the phenomenal sub-franchise that is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Also, my thoughts about this game's deeper plot are almost identical to your theory. I've always believed in this string of ideas so firmly that I practically view it as assumed canon.
Heres another fun theory Explorers is a prequel to BRT. Under this theory the canon team in EOS would be Riolu and Vulpix. Things that make this theory seem possible are the map layouts across both games as well as riolu and vulpix beibg playable in sky. In the end it goes that after defeating darkrai Vulpix evolved and made her way to the frozen peak. Once Riolu evolved he started the very first rescue team seeing the world in turmoil from other threats
Here's a thought: What if Wigglytuff is Darkrai, but reformed? What if, like you, Darkrai got transformed into a different species, and then ended up as a genius child, who "saw the light" in that being nice to people is better than hurting them? What if the reason Wigglytuff knows Lapras is because he is really Darkrai? Am I the only one who thought this?
But maybe he went further back in time - what if, by intersecting with you, he fell further back in time. I don't know, at this point I'm just trying to cling to the hope that there's a much deeper meaning to this game than it appears at first - as in, even the most evil can be redeemed.
Aurora Cordes He can't be Darkrai for some reasons, like the Igglybuff chapter and the recluitable Darkrai at the very end of the game which is the same Darkrai but with amnesia (like the protagonist)
I don't think you're doing Pokemon justice by suggesting that the story writers wasted their time on the series. Pokemon may have predictable story lines, but Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 was exactly what the franchise needed to keep it fresh, and the trio of games added a new element to Pokemon as a whole.
There’s 5 separate games (counting stuff like darkness, time, and sky or the rescue team games as one game since they’re extremely similar) not a trio lmfao
@@aubreyh1930 They were referring only to the Time, Darkness, and Sky trio (which should be obvious), but that small thing isn't at all relevant to their overall point Been going through the comments of this video recently and I was surprised that this was one of the few comments that mentioned how weird that intro statement was
Luka E Played all the three Ranger games, and i can say that Guardian Signs is the best of the trilogy. Good soundtrack, nice coloful 2D sprites, the best and more unique region to explore, amazing plot and characters, the best capture system. Its a shame the Ranger trilogy is overlooked by many Pokemon fans.
so many mistakes in the storyline you told: 1st: Dusknior knows that Dialga is crazy. He just don't want to disappear together with the future since he wouldn't just die but completely cease to ever exist so he wouldn't ever have lived. In the future he finally realized thanks to Grovile telling him that it is right to save the past since saving the past would show that he existed even if nobody would remember him. 2nd: your character never sees Grovile in his dreams. They are cutscenes that shows what happens while you are sleeping at that time. The main character never saw Crovile before seeing his wanted letter in the guild since he doesn't remember the face of Grovile at all (He would at least react with: Oh I've seen him in my dreams) 3rd: you forgot the dimensional screams that are the only hints he gets about Grovile and the main character's search for the time gears (but never sees Grovile or the human self in the dimensional scream) 4th: The reveal that Grovile's partner is a human (and his name revealing that it is actually you) happens after meeting Celibi as Dusknior and Dialga tries to stop you from getting back to the present. 5th: Temporal Tower is not hidden between worlds. It's still within this world but can't be reached since he hid the place in between a split second and thus is unreachable if you don't have the relic fragment 6th: The distortion after saving time isn't in time but only in space. 7th: The disquised Darkrai saysthat the time travel you made causes a disturbance in space since the balance between time and space is now disturbed because of your existance because of the time travel. It's not a crack in time but a crack in the balance between time and space that causes the disturbance (or at least it's what Darkrai tells you because in truth he causes the distortion in space. You and your partner cause a distortion too that is true but it is just minor and Palkia could handle that easily like you said) 8th: He didn't drove Dialga insane but messed with the temporal tower (which Dialga uses to manage time) so time would be disturbed what is also the reason why you need the time gears because they would repair the tower.
Also you and Grovyle don’t go back to where Dialga is completely sane, just to when he isn’t so far gone and before the planets paralysis. Don’t know how he made that mistake when primal Dialga is literally the final boss
I grew up with this game and I loved it to bits, played it out at least 12 times and played every other of the mystery dungeon games. (we do not talk about super mystery dungeon, it doesn't exist.) Up until this day, I still say it is the absolute best game I have ever played.
I know this is like 8 months ago but what's wrong with super mystery dungeon? I don't actually know the story so idk if it's good or bad. Isn't actually that bad?
FriggityFrack ImMadAsASack its my favorite one, don't call me inexperienced becuase i played all of them except GTI because i mean- if theres no Torchic option and theres a huge snowflake boss, than I cant take the game seriously.
@@ClementineLovee Oh jeeze, 4 years! Well, i played smd when i was very young, so i cant really attest to the real value of it. I think the first two PMDs were probably the best, surface value wise.
Wait... Dunno if you've already considered this possibility but: Darkrai jumped back in time when cornered and Polkia destroyed it- isn't it possible that the destruction of the portal disturbed it and caused Darkrai to fly out (in he same way as we did at the beginning of the game) and transform into a different Pokemon. (He could've turned into a human, but the only human of note in the series is you- and it wouldn't make sense that you were Darkrai as surely you'd be a Darkrai when you "returned" to your Pokemon form at the start of the game in what would be the second time this happens). But then he could be a different Pokemon. One who saw his wrongs and wants to make the most of his second chance by helping others as much as he can. One who is hiding a secret past and concealing his true intelligence and knowledge. I think Darkrai IS Wigglytuff.
the thing about Darkrai being transformed into a different pokemon was never confirmed in-game, just that he lost his memories. In fact, after that cutscene, you can even find him in various dungeons with the Eon part and the other thing and even recruit him. So, no, Darkrai didn't become a new pokemon.
+Kasby Kas Awww- seems like a kinda missed opportunity to have things tie up nicely and give him a nice second chance... Well it would've been cool but I bow to your logic
This theory seems like an interesting one even though I have never seen or heard of these Pokemon Games. yet I continue to look to your videos ones I have no prior knowledge and walk out a little more intelligent. Well done
I agree with Sparty Gaming. They can make you laugh, frustated, happy, sad ( and oh boy the story gets extremely sad ). I never imagined that a story can be so full of everything. They should adapt that storytelling in the main games.
I was super pissed off about how the guild took 90 percent of coins away from my team. I mean, I get that I have to pay tuition, but we should be able to keep at least half of what we earn.
If you like good stories in games I'd recommend the Zero Escape games the first one is 999 the second is Virtue's Last Reward and the third is Zero Time Dilemma.
I'm absolutely in love with these games, story and all. Both red rescue and explorers of time were some of my first games ever, and also both in my top ten games.
I know I'm 4 years late but amazing video. Theres only one thing I would add that really develops Dusknoir's character even more. That is to say, Dusknoir is not loyal to Primal Dialga but instead they have mutual interest. You learn at temporal tower that if you change the future that you will all dissappear. Dusknoir uses this as a guilt trip because it is the sole reason why he wants to stop you; not because he is malicious or evil but because he wants to keep surviving. Having Dialga as an ally would surely guarantee this motive, right? However, during the special episode and traveling beside Grovyle and learning more about him and his dream to save the world. Dusknoir realizes that SURVIVING is not the same as LIVING and therefore helps Grovyle and Celebi defeat Primal Dialga in the future and in a beautiful twist is rewarded for his heroic actions and can now go on living in a beautiful world that is now the future. 😢
What if Wigglytuff is Darkrai? The portal could've sent him back in time as an Igglybuff and his parents could've found him and taken him in. His power could come from his he's actually a Mythical Pokemon and his genius could be some of his past knowledge seeping into this new innocent body?
BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY A POKÉ THEORY but in all seriousness this was incredible! seeing my first pokémon game theorised was absolutely amazing. i love this game more than any main series game honestly. thank you for covering it :D
I'm pretty sure Wigglytuff always knew Team Skull were evil. It is implied several times when he says "When a friend asks that I have to wonder why?" and when he throws the perfect apple in front of Team Skull just before they knock you out at the Groudon statue. Then he acts all dumb and tells you and your partner to go on ahead then he tells Team Skull to stay because he "Didn't want to bother them" but I'm pretty sure he was just helping you and your partner out by sending you on ahead and keeping Team Skull where they are. Then Skuntank stares Wigglytuff down and then he figures it out when he cried "BAH! This guy is TOUGH! REALLY TOUGH!" Then Wigglytuff just destroys them. Absolutely genius, it would be good if Wigglytuff explained this to you and your partner because it was only when I replayed it as a teen that I recognised this.
It's also highly implied that that Darkrai is the same Darkrai from the pokemon movie staring him. In the flashback of how the girl found him, Darkrai seemed scared and like it didn't even know about it's own powers and didn't know how to control them, getting upset that his powers caused pokemon to hate and attack him. When Darkrai tried to run away through time and Palkia stopped him, he did say that they didn't know where Darkrai was headed, but that he would very likely lose his memory. Things get scary though when the movie implies that Darkrai regained his memory at the end of the movie and cuts off, as you don't know how Darkrai reacted or what he did next. He might have returned to his evil ways and tried to wreck havoc on the world again, or he might have valued being a hero too much and forsook his evil ways.
There's actually a plot hole. When your character uses the dimensional scream on the crystal, the crystal was never there to experience the theft of the time gear. So... How did the crystal dimensional time scream to view that space during the theft if it was taken and held by Bidoof?
What you say makes some sense but then again, I feel like a lot of details in this game are excused (by the game itself) with *magic* as a convinient way of explaining things. Dusknoir says that the crystal is from crystal cave and if it triggered a vision of a time gear, it would mean that the time gear was there (obviously). That was the primary objective of the that specific dimensional scream. It did also show that, in the future, Grovyle would be there to take it but I think that was used more as a "oh no could it have been taken already? Let's hurry up" so I don't think it was that important to the vision
maybe the crystals in the cave are technically all connected like they are fragments of one crystal. Maybe... only explanation I can think of that works
16:20 While watching your video I had a crazy thought. What if wigglytuff was darkrai?! It would explain igglybuff's extreme power and lack of understanding of basic human interaction and you yourself said that darkrai was transformed into a Pokémon at some and amnesiac as per palkia's assult. So would it be so far fetched to say that a darkrai turned turned good, and unaware of his past wanted to stop an evil darkrai?
I know this is a 7yo comment, but that's not possible unfortunately. We see that Wiglytuff was raised by his parents as a little Iglytuff in the Special Episode.
Pretty interesting theory. Mystery Dungeon is very... Mysterious. Unsurprisingly. If you get the chance, here's a couple of mysteries I'd like to ask you to figure out: 1)Time Gears. They're crucial to the plot, and kind of unknown elements in many ways. We know they came from Temporal Tower, and basing off the fact that when they are replaced, the surface they were placed into becomes smooth, with no hint that they were Time Gears inserted into the surface, I would infer that Darkrai cut the Gears out, or something similar to that, from the surface. Now, based off your partner's reactions, the Gears have been hanging out in the world for long enough that it's almost as if they've been there forever, it's surprising that they don't exist. So, here's my question: how long have those Gears been at their resting places outside of the Temporal Tower? Why didn't Dialga recover the Gears himself? I don't know how much of interest there is to find here, but if you can find some satisfactory explanation for this seeming possible plot hole that makes it not a plot hole, that'd be amazing. 2)This is a little out there, so stick with me a second. Based off evidence in this video (th-cam.com/video/PjnPyGFYKrI/w-d-xo.html), humans are Pokemon. The evidence is pretty solid, so moving forward with that, why is it then that, in the PMD games, Pokemon can talk to each other no problem at all, no matter what they are, but in more standard Pokemon games, where you are a trainer who captures Pokemon, you can't understand your Pokemon at all. NEW QUESTIONS: 3)Time Gears... Again... There is a lot to figure out about them. I replayed Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, and I realized, based off the way that Lapras reacts, the Time Gears seem like they were SUPPOSED to be where they were. So what are the Time Gears? Magic repair kit for Temporal Tower? Also, it seems to be one-time use if it is a repair kit, so maybe it would keep Temporal Tower protected forever. I mean, if it wouldn't keep TT (Temporal Tower) safe, then why doesn't Darkrai just destabilize it again? Seems like that would be an easy win. Or not, who knows? Maybe Darkrai's first attempt to destabilize TT was in place for millennia or tens of millennia, and he was out of patience to try it again. I don't know. This game is complex and confusing... 4)That brings up another question that we don't have a good answer to: is this Lapras unique? The only one that can act as the transporter to the Hidden Land? Or is he part of line of Laprases (Lapri?) that are the transporters to the Hidden Land? If he's unique, does he have an expiration date? If he does, that seems like a pretty stupid way for things to work, as it would cut off the Hidden Land forever without Dialga's intervention, so I would assume Lapras is either part of a line of transporters, or is unique, and won't die of age. 5)So, your character is the one that was attacked by Darkrai and affected by his attack, causing you to get amnesia, turn into a Pokemon, and teleport to the beach, while Grovyle teleports somewhere near Treeshroud Forest. But when you go back to the future via Dusknoir's abducting you, and then return to the past with Celebi's help, landing you, the partner, and Grovyle on the beach. Wait a second, though, why did you all get sent to the beach? You never told Celebi to send you, as far as we know, and based off the fact that you were attacked by Darkrai and Grovyle ends up in Treeshroud Forest, Treeshroud Forest should be the true destination - why wouldn't Celebi send you there again? I guess maybe Celebi's time travel/teleportation sends you to a random/semi-random location in the time you want to go to, but the odds of you ending up at the beach randomly the first time, then showing up there the second time, again randomly, is unlikely. I guess Occam's Razor would tell us that the solution is probably that our characters requested to be sent there off screen or during the dungeon when characters don't usually have dialogue. But why would Grovyle ask to go there? He doesn't have a good reason to, and in fact, he believes that the Pokemon of Treasure Town won't trust him, and will still fight against him, so Grovyle would probably want to be as far away from there as possible, and the exact mechanism of the time travel wasn't explained to our characters, so they wouldn't have reason to specifically request they be sent there, they wouldn't know that they could. C1)This one is actually a comment, denoted by the "C" notation absent in the previous questions. Dusknoir did/does understand that Primal Dialga is trying to prevent the changing of history, that Primal Dialga is trying to maintain the history that causes the planet's paralysis. He is loyal to Dialga, but more than that, he is motivated by fear of the dreamless sleep that would be the non-existence caused by the changing of history. He decides to help Grovyle because of his sharing of his ideology that a life as hollow as their lives in the future, barely scraping by, living in despair, isn't worth living, and that he'd rather give himself for the betterment of the world, to escape that vicious life so that others might not have lives so vile and fraught with hatred and fear. He convinces Dusknoir that his life is well spent, regardless of being cut short, if he can cause such a great, beneficial change for the world. I'm still interested in seeing something about Wigglytuff, of course, but these are just some other weird things that would be cool to get an answer to.
Interesting question. The Time Gears were there... Since the beginning of time itself! Temporal tower was meant to be used only in extreme cases (like the planet's paralysis), where when they are placed there, time would "force resets" itself, restoring its natural pace. This is the only possibility, as, when you successfully put the Time Gears in place, they get absorbed by the Tower. Dialga was gradually going insane, so he could have not tried to recover the Gears.
Hmm. This could be true, but Grovyle said in the game that Temporal Tower gives structure to time, and I'd like to believe the characters aren't misinforming me, though they could be. However, the Time Gears could have been only intended for emergencies, but as I said, that seems like a stupid idea. What if there's a calamity that requires the Time Gears to repair the tower more than once in the entirety of all time. Although, then again, considering that Dialga is the pokemon that governs over time, maybe he knew that they would only need one emergency repair kit. Who knows?
I think I can answer the Lapras question. Assuming that Lapras has the typical biology of the Lapras species and isn't enhanced in any way apart from status (due to hereditary responsibilities), we can also assume Lapras has the typical lifespan of a Lapras (which we don't know but if pokemon are the replacement humans then it's most likely something like 80 years (or other unit of measurement used)). So Lapras still has this regular lifespan, but most of his existence is spent in a gap of frozen time between brine cave and the hidden land, and as he is presumably part of that environment, does not age UNLESS he is in an environment where time flows normally. Assuming that Lapras has only left the hidden land-brine cave time gap the 3 times mentioned in the main story, it would mean that Lapras has only aged for the amount of time he was in the main story gameplay and the offscreen appearance to help Wigglytuff and Chatot in the past, meaning that that Lapras has probably not even aged a single week since being the mode of transport to the hidden land. This game requires too much assumption
maybe dialga also gave lapras ethernal life by binding his age to a timeloop....wouldnt be out of the question.ps.i personally like to believe the timegears actually are supposed to be out there.maybe long before the game, they were moved out of the tower so that every area has its own independency when it comes to time and they just kept the plate where they can be moved into to repair and protect the fabric of time forever.then, darkrai attacked the tower and without the gears,it wasnt protected and thus, time on the entire planet started to freeze but because the gears were still there, nobody noticed.we also learn that time gets rekt when the gears are taken away and gets restored after they are brought back.but thats not the case,so maybe that only works when time itself isnt already nearly destroyed. so its probably something like: if gear gets stolen = time stops for area instantly if tower gets destroyed = time stops for whole world slowly(takes priority over gear) if gear gets returned = time flows again if gears are inserted into tower = time flows again instantly(permanent) there is something i want to know tho.the game shows us a gear that is neither mentioned by the characters in the game, nor do we actually get the gear.so there are more gears than there are needed to restore the tower and unify all timezones again? why? does that mean they werent even part of the tower and were created on their own? and whats up with that gear anyways? does it matter at this point? and why didnt anyone find it yet?
Waiiiit a minute 14:00 . I was playing through the game and lapras confessed the lapras saw chatot in physical danger and knew they didn't have bad intentions. Not necessarily meaning wigglytuff had the relic fragment.
I remember this being the first Pokemon game I owned. I got it because I couldn't read at that time and I just picked this game and asked my parents to buy it. When I got home I was surprised to see that this was a different Pokemon game but never the less, I actually enjoyed it and played it for awhile. Time passes and I don't know what happened to this game until I find my Ds again so I decided to try and play this game once again. I picked up where I last left off not remembering what happened before, but I instantly loved this game again so I kept playing it and went through with the story.Anyways for reminding me of this wonderful game and my childhood.
You’re completely right about this being an amazing storyline. It’s so good, in fact, that I’m adopting the story into a D&D campaign so my friends can enjoy it as much as I did :)
+The Theorizer OK thanks for replying anyways this is enough of a reward by the way what do you think about a yugioh in a pokemon go style ( this game is not made by konami a youtuber named azeneyes has a video advertising it )
When I first watched this video, I didn't play the game yet so I was spoiled BUT even with spoilers I found the story amazing and the (main-story) finale heart-breaking and I cried. The game is so good, not even spoilers can ruin it !
Loved the video!! I have a theory too: in his special episode, Bidoof wished to have some one to instruct on explorations' stuffs. Some time after that, you and your companion joined the guild (boom, wish granted). Your companion's motivation to join was to become a cool explorer and unveil the mistery around his ancient fragment. So, he joined because of the ancient fragment...aka bidoof's wish was made a reality thanks to the fragment. So, it was jirachi that gave the companion the fragment in order to make the wish a reality.
2:08 Guess what I just realised? If this timeline has any link to the main series, then guess who is to blame for the start of this escapade? *Cyrus.* I mean, *cough*, the Red Chain 👀
I love this game because: - Pokemons can actually talk and don’t repeat saying what species they are - They are shown to be capable of building society much like how humans do - IVs aren’t a thing and you don’t need to worry about it - All Stats can be maxed out - Some moves work differently and (such as Mirror Move)
Dusknoir knows Dialga is insane. He's fighting for self-preservation, not out of any loyalty. What he chooses to do is legitimately evil and self serving, which is why I think his redemption works so well.
If he is just doing it for self-preservation why does he feel the need to go back to the future? It would be smarter to hang out in the place with the less insane time god and where everything isn't a complete shithole. Shure Grovyle is still knocking about but if you put a stop to him you have nothing to fear.
@@elloo98 Remember this though: If Grovyle succeeds in his plan to put the time gears where they need to go, EVERYTHING and EVERYONE from the future disappears. This INCLUDES Dusknoir. So of course he would want to go back to the future once Grovyle is stops, to make sure that Grovyle and the player don't try again, therefore, he stays in existence.
@@Vegeta241 why didn't he just wait at the rainbow stoneship the first time though? Even if Grovyle was able to collect all the time gears on his first attempt he wouldn't have the partners relic fragment so he wouldn't be able to get to the hidden land. He most likely would've had to try and convince everyone that he was good but it's unlikely that would've succeeded. Even after going to the future and getting nearly executed the partner was still incredibly hesitant to believe Grovyle.
@@genericwhitemale9566 Do you mean why didn't Dusknoir just stay at the Rainbow Stoneship the first time he went to the future? I feel that is kind of easy to explain. If all Dusknoir did was just show up at the Hidden Land and wait at the Rainbow Stoneship, Dusknoir would have never met all of the other Pokemon. Meaning that no one would have known of the lie that Grovyle was a "wicked Pokemon of the future looking to paralyze the planet". Plus, without Dusknoir, no one would really know how to track down Grovyle or know of the places that Mesprit and Azelf were located. Logically, Grovyle would probably get to the doorway of the hidden land and have to turn back to look for the relic fragment piece, encounter then main duo, and probably through conversation would figure out that your character (the human) was his partner. Without Dusknoir's lies, Grovyle's story would come off a lot easier and there would be no other side to counter it. ...Or I guess the even EASIER explanation is that Primal Dialga specifically told Dusknoir to look for Grovyle and your character. I mean, it is apparent that even though he only speaks in growls and grunts, Dusknoir can understand what Primal Dialga is saying, and I doubt Dusknoir would want to refuse orders at that point in the story from a being that literally controls time itself.
I know these games aren’t canon but I like to think these games took place at a time before the core series games took place. At a time where humans were rare and the world of Pokémon was... well, a world of Pokémon. At some point or another, more humans would appear and the Pokémon lost some of their sentience. Then plenty of years later, Pokemon Red occurs. The future we see in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is also the aftermath of the apocalypse (Poképocalypse? Eh. Too much.) which ends with Dialga freezing time. Your character is then, therefore, the last human alive going back to the past to try and undo the apocalypse by killing Dialga.
I know this video is getting old as hell, but saying that the writers "wasted their effort" writing a good story for a Pokémon game instead of a "real" piece of media like a film or a Zelda game is probably one of the most reductive things I've heard in a long while
I like the theory, but there is one huge problem with it. You say that when Wigglytuff first met Lapras it was when he used the Relic Fragment to summon it to help Chatot. Disregarding the facts that if it happened just like when they went back with the hero and partner that Wigglytuff wouldn't have been near enough to activate the wall markings, and the unlikely situation where he somehow knows exactly what the thing does and how to use it, what on earth would make him think to do that? Wigglytuff was apparently panicking as he says to the other Guildmembers, but even if that was a lie, he could have easily carried Chatot back to town, there was no need to summon Lapras in the first place. I was always under the impression that the beam of light is the actual key to unlocking the gateway to the Hidden Land, and going back to that part in the game where Lapras meets the Hero and Partner I see it's stated as a signal to gaining entry. However, it takes Lapras no time at all to show up which means Lapras must have been nearby already, so that beam probably doesn't necessarily summon Lapras, but rather serves as an alert that there are those who wish to go to the Hidden Land that have been proven worthy of access. I believe the Relic Fragment is what chose the partner, it's the only way Dialga could be sure it wouldn't fall into the wrong hands without picking someone himself. It's really not that hard to believe, considering it reacts with the cave markings without actually touching it, and when placed in the tower of the Rainbow Stoneship it causes the stoneship to levitate and shoot rainbows from behind. Those key facts prove it has some otherworldly, or rather, otherdmensionally powers. Since the Hidden Land is hidden within a gap in time, that probably means it exists within a sort of pocket dimension, and my theory is that in order to gain access to another dimension, you need an object from that dimension to open the gate.
I love how perceptive and intelligent Wigglytuff is. In many cases, like how you were accused for doing things, he just glares at you, and says, "let's move on." Like if he can see through your character. He's shown amazing leadership skills, and great vocabulary and maturity. Wigglytuff, for the longest time, has been my favorite Pokémon related character of all time.
Lapras appeared before Wigglytuff at Brine Cave because he was afraid he might piece together the secret of the Relic Fragment. Chatot had been mortally wounded by Kabutops, so Lapras (somehow) saved Chatot in exchange for he and Wigglytuff promising not to investigate the pattern. Lapras allowed the Guild to later explore Brine Cave as he and Wigglytuff both accepted that it would be foolish to keep to that promise anymore, as the destruction of the world was fast-coming. I think the reason Wigglytuff was able to speak again with Lapras was because of the unique circumstances set in place by their history and by Wigglytuff's promise. Wigglytuff, in my opinion, is an exception to the rules. I don't think he ever had anything to do with the Relic Fragment itself before returning to Brine Cave years later. I always liked to imagine that Dialga himself, before Darkrai even set his sights on Temporal Tower, removed the Relic Fragment from the Rainbow Stoneship and sent it somewhere outside the Hidden Land as a contingency. Perhaps he hoped that if something were to go wrong someone may find the Relic Fragment, trace it back to the Hidden Land with the Time Gears in hand and save him. Kind of conflicts with the Relic Fragment _choosing_ the partner, and its not very realistic, but its still an interesting thought to me. Christ, I love this game so much.
Praise be to God. I shouldn't waste time, but this game brings me extreme nostalgia. And i believe it has a lot of good in it, i mean it may be typical in the "friendship power" vibe, but i think that's fine honestly. There is a mystical aspect of it which i really like. I fell in love with the Hidden Land, now i see it as a parabole of the Garden of Paradise and the music of it and all sells it well, it's a hidden land after all, which makes it more precious and makes you take it with more appreciation to be exploring it. Not gonna lie as a kid i liked the dark version of it also, idk if even more. Altough yeah in real life it would probably suck to be in darkness all the time, so altough i liked it in the game, i totally get why it's not cool. I'm technically a game dev now, altough i didn't release a big game, i plan on someday doing so, and definitely might take inspiration on the ruins and epic dungeons of this game. I really like their style. PD: Also the "visions" on the game are cool, it reminds me of real life dreams sometimes one has where one sees what is going to happen, it happened to me once i think and it's a mercy from God or at least that's what i've been informed of. Sadly once you finish the first half, and especially when you finish the second you almost get no reminder that you had that ability lol... it literally becomes unused... But i appreciate the special chapters, as a kid i literally wondered if there was any way to come back to the future as they say, and they literally made that a reality, so yeah that's epically cool. The only bad thing of that is that i accidentally bought the japanese version of PMD Explorers of the Sky, so basically i beat the game from memory since otherwise i got no clue about what the NPCs are saying ;-; And i also have to memorize the words as if they were pictograms to remember if i'm looking at an apple of an orange berry... Peace
Awesome. I didn't think of that at all. Wigglytuff pulled the wool over my eyes! This is one of my favorite games. My friend introduced me to Blue and Red Rescue Team ten years ago now.
So after I saw "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the Deathly Swalot" in the video I decided to make names if Pokémon had Harry Potter names Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the Relic Fragment Pokémon and uh... **runs**
I kinda have a minor theory about the PMD series. It’s probably wrong, but I might as well put it here. Gengar from the first game, Darkrai from the second, the Everfrost from the 3rd, Dark Matter from the 4th, they’re all the same person. Now, I haven’t gotten to the part of the remake where Gengar is revealed to be the evil human that grabbed Ninetails’ tail (it got spoiled for me so I know that happened), but I do know what happens in every other game. Darkrai goes into the portal through time, it gets shattered, and he gets reincarnated as an embodiment of cold despair and hatred, the Everfrost. After the Everfrost is defeated, it is shattered, but it melts down, and reforms into an amorphous blob of negative emotion, Dark Matter, even stronger than before. Now, you’re probably wondering how we then don’t see any consistent characters. Simple, every mystery dungeon game takes place on a different island/archipelago, and they’re years apart. There’s probably a lot of holes in this theory, but I’m not really intimate enough with the series to recognize them, so... yeah.
at 3:29 and 4:24! If you want to you can give me credit, but I'm mainly just excited that my art was good enough to get on a youtube video! :D Also, nice video! :D
it's on both deviantart and tumblr, and my username for both is mewtwo365! (not the "!" though, that's just an exclamation point). It's very nice of you to do this! :D
I remember a Pokémon game about a solder fighting aliens that dies but because he was so bad ass he got to come back to life in another universe as a Pokémon.
I liked the first two, rescue teams and explorers, the third one was ok but the forth was not the best. i would have rather waited for an extra year and have gotten a better one. I'm still waiting for another pokemon rangers game as well.
HOLD IT! +The Theorizer , you say that Wigglytuff already possessed the Relic Fragment, and but you did not specify how he acquired the fragment. Its only use is to make the platform fly, so it should have been intact to it. And yet, that piece of stone is far from there. This brings up two questions: A) How was it removed from the platform, or who did so. B) How was it found by the partner. Which brings up a flaw to your theory. Only a Pokemon from within that island could have gotten the fragment, or Darkrai. So, that completely erases Wigglytuff from the list, as he could have not summoned Lapras in the first place to get there. And there you have it. The prosecution's case is blown up. (Much Wright style many wow)
Just looked up Lapras' and Wigglytuff's meeting. It seems that the Relic Fragment was not needed in the first place for them to meet. Still though, I am pumped about exposing Wigglytuff :3
Seth Griffin In the debunking of that other commenter, I discussed this exact point as well, and figured it out. It's still somewhere in this comments section.
I recently beat the new game, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, and the twist is just stupid. You find out that your partner is actually mew and then he talks about all the good times you had then transforms into a big ball of light and fly's away. Then the credits happen. Its a really weird ending.
You praise the story and the music of these games. Did you also mention the art? The games have fantastic pixel art!
Suppenfischeintopf The sunset scene on the beach is wonderful
+illkyum Don't forget the time gear lake
Suppenfischeintopf I agree
Yah. This is why I hate the new games. They can't bring back the beuty.
And splash art, for that matter. Have you seen the title screens, and the cutscene art? Absolutely beautiful.
The Gray Pet I know

Actually, from what I've read, there are many Pokemon fans that like this series. They say that it has the best soundtracks, stories of the franchise, and enjoy the gameplay.
PKMN37 I'm one of them
Treasure town for life
A piece of toast Pokemon square too!!!!
10000%
It is the best that the franchise has to offer.
The ending of Sky made me tear up. It is by far my favorite Pokémon game. Even when I spawned in those monster houses and died to a bs crit. It was nice relive the storyline. Thank you.
I always found palkia's cutscenes hilarious. He was constantly bellowing and spontaneously teleporting (with a really cool animation)
YOU BROKE SPACE, NOW I BREAK YOUR BACK! GRROOOOOOOHHHH!
I came for the theory, and left with a great theory and a hilarious image of an insane Dialga.. XD
ikr :D
5:30 if you want to return just for the insane Dialga.
idk though. the stone isn't really needed to summon lapras. remember lapras says that he has to hide himself, but when he saw chatot dying he couldn't stand idly by.
LOL
Zoruaa That image made me laugh so hard.
I guess you can see Dialga became bitter and *twisted*.
thank god SOMEONE talked about these games!!
they are SOOOO underappreciated!!!
thank you :D!!

Same here.

Same and its also my youtibe name wtf is wrong with me haha
I find it more likely that Bidoof's wish caused the Relic Fragment to be found by the partner. Because we know for a fact that the wish was the reason that the player and partner joined the guild. That way Bidoof would be the true savior of the story. And the only way Wigglytuff would have known about the partner needing the fragment was if he traveled trough time himself, which is never hinted at in the game.
I second this, but at the same time, maybe Jirachi planted the idea in Wigglytuff's head so that Bidoof's wish would come true.
but what if Bidoof's wish caused the time gear crisis in the first place? Disturbances in the flow of time aren't mentioned at all before he makes his wish...
@@PotatotheTroll Agreed, I believe Bidoof kinda fucked things up
@@kingthorgrim1591 could be true but remember the darkrai could've killed bidoof had saved you with his wish so basically he bidoof made an alternate timeline

Heres another fun theory
Explorers is a prequel to BRT.

At 12:26 he says Igglybuff was "hiding behind a mask of idiocy", and there is a picture of Drake with Igglybuff in his mouth.
Shots fired.
Am I the only one who thought this?
not exactly, because wigglytuff is already there when darkrai(real) swoops down and intersected you from grovile.
But maybe he went further back in time - what if, by intersecting with you, he fell further back in time. I don't know, at this point I'm just trying to cling to the hope that there's a much deeper meaning to this game than it appears at first - as in, even the most evil can be redeemed.
Darkrai died in the portal and his soul travelled back in time. He was reincarnated as Igglybuff.
Aurora Cordes He can't be Darkrai for some reasons, like the Igglybuff chapter and the recluitable Darkrai at the very end of the game which is the same Darkrai but with amnesia (like the protagonist)
Aurora Cordes genius, that theory already was hinted in the video XD
I Love How You Said "Boom, Great Twist"
At 5:14 TOOOOOO FUNNY! x3
Only Trio?
There’s 5 separate games (counting stuff like darkness, time, and sky or the rescue team games as one game since they’re extremely similar) not a trio lmfao
@@aubreyh1930 They were referring only to the Time, Darkness, and Sky trio (which should be obvious), but that small thing isn't at all relevant to their overall point
Been going through the comments of this video recently and I was surprised that this was one of the few comments that mentioned how weird that intro statement was
Does anyone know about pokemon ranger?
Yes. Really good but nothing is like mystery dungeon.
Ben B k
the first pokemon ranger is my favourite game ever! The only game I've enjoyed more than explorers of time, blue rescue team and platinum
guys you probably seen this but.. in pokemon mystery dungeon when you hit zapdos with a ground type move, its not very effective
Luka E Played all the three Ranger games, and i can say that Guardian Signs is the best of the trilogy. Good soundtrack, nice coloful 2D sprites, the best and more unique region to explore, amazing plot and characters, the best capture system. Its a shame the Ranger trilogy is overlooked by many Pokemon fans.
so many mistakes in the storyline you told:
1st: Dusknior knows that Dialga is crazy.
The main character never saw Crovile before seeing his wanted letter in the guild since he doesn't remember the face of Grovile at all (He would at least react with: Oh I've seen him in my dreams)
3rd: you forgot the dimensional screams that are the only hints he gets about Grovile and the main character's search for the time gears (but never sees Grovile or the human self in the dimensional scream)
4th: The reveal that Grovile's partner is a human (and his name revealing that it is actually you) happens after meeting Celibi as Dusknior and Dialga tries to stop you from getting back to the present.
5th: Temporal Tower is not hidden between worlds. It's still within this world but can't be reached since he hid the place in between a split second and thus is unreachable if you don't have the relic fragment
6th: The distortion after saving time isn't in time but only in space.
You and your partner cause a distortion too that is true but it is just minor and Palkia could handle that easily like you said)
8th: He didn't drove Dialga insane but messed with the temporal tower (which Dialga uses to manage time) so time would be disturbed what is also the reason why you need the time gears because they would repair the tower.
Excellent analysis bro
Also you and Grovyle don’t go back to where Dialga is completely sane, just to when he isn’t so far gone and before the planets paralysis. Don’t know how he made that mistake when primal Dialga is literally the final boss
I grew up with this game and I loved it to bits, played it out at least 12 times and played every other of the mystery dungeon games. (we do not talk about super mystery dungeon, it doesn't exist.)

@@ClementineLovee Oh jeeze, 4 years! Well, i played smd when i was very young, so i cant really attest to the real value of it. I think the first two PMDs were probably the best, surface value wise.

AHHHHHH YEAHHHHH
I have yet to NOT cry in a pokemon mystery dungeon game.
Awesome video!!!
Well you can see i'm a big fan of pmd games when my favourite pokemon are darkrai, grovyle and dusknoir ahaha
Valledorthedragon Tbh it would've been cool if that happened, but then Darkrai wouldn't be recruitable :/

If you have time, I would try out explorers of sky/time/space. They are very fun and interesting in story
I agree with Sparty Gaming. They can make you laugh, frustated, happy, sad ( and oh boy the story gets extremely sad ). I never imagined that a story can be so full of everything. They should adapt that storytelling in the main games.
+The Aki War The ending never fails to make me cry, no matter how many times I have completed it!
well rip. knowing about grovyle really kills the story, as does knowing that Darkrai is behind everything.
Mystery dungeon: explorers of time is my 2nd favorite video game of all time! Thank you so much for this theory!
It's probably my 2nd favourite as well! I actually don't know what would be my first...
Awesome! My first is Shovel Knight. Its story is nothing new, but the gameplay is so fun that I've beaten it 5 times!
There was a Mystery Dungeon for Gameboy Advance. I played that; it was fun. C:
I was super pissed off about how the guild took 90 percent of coins away from my team. I mean, I get that I have to pay tuition, but we should be able to keep at least half of what we earn.
If you like good stories in games I'd recommend the Zero Escape games the first one is 999 the second is Virtue's Last Reward and the third is Zero Time Dilemma.
I'm surprised that PMD isn't directed by M. Night Shaymalan.
I liked purely because of how you explained the game, I could never have said it better myself. Every aspect of this game is amazing.
I'm absolutely in love with these games, story and all. Both red rescue and explorers of time were some of my first games ever, and also both in my top ten games.
This is by far your best video! Keep it man
I know I'm 4 years late but amazing video.
😢
9:11 this bit terrified me as a kid, the all caps talk especially.
Wigglytuff didn't dismiss the waterfall Cave. He clearly said that he remembers doing an exploration about it.
What if Wigglytuff is Darkrai? The portal could've sent him back in time as an Igglybuff and his parents could've found him and taken him in. His power could come from his he's actually a Mythical Pokemon and his genius could be some of his past knowledge seeping into this new innocent body?
BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY
A POKÉ THEORY
but in all seriousness this was incredible! seeing my first pokémon game theorised was absolutely amazing. i love this game more than any main series game honestly. thank you for covering it :D
Absolutely genius, it would be good if Wigglytuff explained this to you and your partner because it was only when I replayed it as a teen that I recognised this.
the GREATEST pokemon game, better than the core series IMO. The ones who've experienced this masterpiece understands.
0:45 Sky is the best game I've ever played
I agree
I agree
i love the editing in here!!! i laughed so much! i love pmd!!!
The Primal Dialga fight music has been my ring tone for 6 or 7 years, when it started to play in your video I thought I was getting a call
If you get the chance, here's a couple of mysteries I'd like to ask you to figure out:
1)Time Gears.
NEW QUESTIONS:
3)Time Gears...
Who knows?
If love a new mystery dungeon game for the switch and maybe a mystery dungeon of sky vc.
This game requires too much assumption
maybe dialga also gave lapras ethernal life by binding his age to a timeloop....wouldnt be out of the question.ps.i personally like to believe the timegears actually are supposed to be out there.maybe long before the game, they were moved out of the tower so that every area has its own independency when it comes to time and they just kept the plate where they can be moved into to repair and protect the fabric of time forever.then, darkrai attacked the tower and without the gears,it wasnt protected and thus, time on the entire planet started to freeze but because the gears were still there, nobody noticed.we also learn that time gets rekt when the gears are taken away and gets restored after they are brought back.but thats not the case,so maybe that only works when time itself isnt already nearly destroyed.
so its probably something like:
if gear gets stolen = time stops for area instantly
if tower gets destroyed = time stops for whole world slowly(takes priority over gear)
if gear gets returned = time flows again
if gears are inserted into tower = time flows again instantly(permanent)
there is something i want to know tho.the game shows us a gear that is neither mentioned by the characters in the game, nor do we actually get the gear.so there are more gears than there are needed to restore the tower and unify all timezones again? why? does that mean they werent even part of the tower and were created on their own? and whats up with that gear anyways? does it matter at this point? and why didnt anyone find it yet?

Explorers of sky is my favourite pokemon game ever
I remember when Palkia first appeared when I played. I Burst out laughing, it was so comedically timed.
mystery dungeon literally is a huge part of my life
You’re completely right about this being an amazing storyline. It’s so good, in fact, that I’m adopting the story into a D&D campaign so my friends can enjoy it as much as I did :)
Darkrai is resurrected as bidoof :)
(If only imagine?)

thanks for replying anyways this is enough of a reward
by the way what do you think about a yugioh in a pokemon go style ( this game is not made by konami a youtuber named azeneyes has a video advertising it )
+The Theorizer yeah but none of us like your anonymity 😩😩
Its 2020 and i still come back to explorers of sky to play it again. One of the most masterfully written stories I’ve ever played through.
When I first watched this video, I didn't play the game yet so I was spoiled BUT even with spoilers I found the story amazing and the (main-story) finale heart-breaking and I cried. The game is so good, not even spoilers can ruin it !
Loved the video!!
I have a theory too:
in his special episode, Bidoof wished to have some one to instruct on explorations' stuffs.
*Cyrus.*
I mean, *cough*, the Red Chain 👀
I love this game because:
- Pokemons can actually talk and don’t repeat saying what species they are
- They are shown to be capable of building society much like how humans do
- IVs aren’t a thing and you don’t need to worry about it
- All Stats can be maxed out
- Some moves work differently and (such as Mirror Move)
I know this video is getting old as hell, but saying that the writers "wasted their effort" writing a good story for a Pokémon game instead of a "real" piece of media like a film or a Zelda game is probably one of the most reductive things I've heard in a long while
WoW. I knew the game had a good scenario, but you pointed out at some clues that I overlooked when I played. Good job on that one.
Nice pfp
this game made me cry more than once, and i can't say that for most movies and games i've consumed these days.

very interesting theory! comment below your main starters.
I was skitty and my partner was mudkip :)

Peace
Who would win?
My will to not cry or
One pokemon mystery boi
Awesome. I didn't think of that at all. Wigglytuff pulled the wool over my eyes! This is one of my favorite games. My friend introduced me to Blue and Red Rescue Team ten years ago now.
So after I saw "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the Deathly Swalot" in the video I decided to make names if Pokémon had Harry Potter names
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the Relic Fragment
Pokémon and uh... **runs**
I literally came up with that spur of the moment :D
Did I break it?
Papyrox Bleach Um...
The Theorizer DID I BREAK IT?
Okay just make another theory or something.
There’s probably a lot of holes in this theory, but I’m not really intimate enough with the series to recognize them, so... yeah.
WOAH I saw my art in this!! COOL! :D
At what time in the video? Should I have given you credit?
at 3:29 and 4:24! If you want to you can give me credit, but I'm mainly just excited that my art was good enough to get on a youtube video! :D
Also, nice video! :D

Guys
.....
Pokemon mystery dungeon red/blue rescue team is getting remade....
They might remake the whole series!!!!!
or even better they could be testing the waters to continue the series
Gen 4 remakes won't come out, so dont expect a Gen 4-esque game to get a remake.
I would love it too. I'm sorry.
RPG lover9 I think they're done with pokemon rangers
@@burmessafox3939 after guardian signs failed both with most of the ranger fans and in sales theh called it quits

I gotta say, its unfair to use "it's a Pokémon game" as a flaw.
these are my favorite pokemon games and holy am i happy to see actually theories and videos about the games TY SO MUCH
How dare you insult pokemon franchise and say that pmd explorers of sky would be better if it wasnt a pokemon game.
bc the pokemon aspect of the game might be a turn-off for some people
Thank you TH-cam for recommending this to me 5 years later
There’s another theory I made on it too!
HOLD IT!
+The Theorizer , you say that Wigglytuff already possessed the Relic Fragment, and but you did not specify how he acquired the fragment. Its only use is to make the platform fly, so it should have been intact to it. And yet, that piece of stone is far from there. This brings up two questions:
A) How was it removed from the platform, or who did so.
Another person tried debunking me with these same facts, and I debunked him. He is somewhere in this comments section.
+The Theorizer Oh... RIP my original counter argument? And I thought I had it!
+The Theorizer Yep, I found it. Small details make the difference in theories I guess :P
0:39 i absolutely hate the dungeon crawler games but i’ve still loved playing the game for the storyline
6:08 I stopped so I could go back and play the game, i will probably be back in 2017 around February or something like that
rpg jones -that one meowstic- well how did it go
Awesome video and great theory!I loved it!:3 Have a great day/night!
I recently beat the new game, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, and the twist is just stupid. You find out that your partner is actually mew and then he talks about all the good times you had then transforms into a big ball of light and fly's away. Then the credits happen. Its a really weird ending.
