    I like that bit about doing your own thing because we have hand, finger, wrist issues. Your bead twister with Sassafras branch is ingenious. Thank you, you don't speak to fast, everything is so clear, thank you again.

    I have made some with the skewer just like that, except I put it some glue in the middle of the end of the split to keep it from breaking, then I made 2 straight beads and glued them on .
    I also made on out of a permanent marker . I pulled it apart, took the inside out, and threaded a cutter (splitpin) through the hole added some glue, then I put a hole in the bottom of the other part and put different size pin through it added glue and then glued both parts back together. To get a 3rd one I put air dry clay around the pin enough to fit it into the cap of the pen took it back out and let it dry , onced it was dry I glued the whole thing back in .
    The idea came from Sannie Creates .
    Thank you for your tutorials it was very interesting.

    I always use nail polish...works really good. Hint: use a straight pin to start the frayed edges. Works well and keeps my fingers from getting sore. TFS I'm really getting some great ideas.😁

    Love your idea of using the cotter pins for bead rollers! I've been eyeing them at the craft stores but held off on that purchase. So happy I did.
    I also use paper & plastic drinking straws of all sizes from drinks at the restaurants, etc. & especially like the coffee stirrers with the whole in the middle. Straws give the extra strength needed for some papers & fabrics. The needle won't catch on the fabric beads & it makes for quick & easy threading of all beads.
    AND bonus! It keeps the paper & plastic out of the landfills. :D

    I love the idea of the cross piece, the skewer, but I used polymer clay to make the handle. I think I will make one with your added cross piece to make the metal more stable. Thank you as usual for all the great ideas.

      @aljohn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the sweet comment :) I have made handles with the clay also, and it does seem to get between the circle for a good hold, but this probably would make it more stable :) Thank you for sharing your idea with us all :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

    Those cotter keys are hard to find unless you go to Lowe's or Home Depot the may have that kind. But Aces don't carry that kind

    • @aljohn
      @aljohn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe they call them cotter pins, you could take a screen shot and show it to them so they know what you are looking for :) My husband says he has bought the cotter pins from ace before, so if they are the only ones close, try again and see if a picture will help :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

    very clever idea!. Have you used a bead core on these beads? Wondering about size? Also, I have the wood handles from those foam sponges for painting. I thought they might be useful so I saved them, lol. These might make handles. I'll have to see how one holds up to drilling.

    • @aljohn
      @aljohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the sweet comment :) I do not use regular bead cores with a size, but sometimes I do use coffee stirrers or plastic tubing for a core :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

    I always enjoy your bead-making videos; so much fun! I FINALLY found some cotter keys, so I bought a few different sizes and made a handle for one with polymer clay. It's lovely to use, since I tend to make beads in masses, I don't get so much hand fatigue. My first bead roller was a skewer, intact, on which I rolled magazine page beads "held" onto the skewer with a little Elmer's glue. Had to roll quickly and remove the bead before it stuck, but it did work. I think the next beads I want to try making will be fabric, any tips? Great tutorial, thanks for sharing; take care!

    Even though this video was evidently done about 2 yrs ago, I still want to mention that although I am liking this video & the crafting ideas that you are displaying, you have some interesting ideas here, you really do, but I don't like it at all, that your phone has been ringing, it was very annoying, the 1st time I heard it, I thought it was my phone & I was watching this after 11pm. So, hearing the phone that I thought was mine was very upsetting to me, as no one really ever calls me that time of night, the only thing I could think of was someone died or was very ill in my family, yup this is just about the only time that I ever hear from my thoughtless family members. I have tried over many yrs to keep in touch with my family only to get shut down with complaints every single time, so I do not contact any of them at all anymore except my niece, as her own mother could careless about her, this to me is so sad, I guess that I come from a very dysfunctional family, But that's life. Anyhow I feel bad about having to write this, but I just felt that I had too, afterall you did say that you think that you had answered all of your important phone calls, so it would have been great if your phone had been shut off. Well, I guess that it may sound a bit odd to you why I would even get upset over a phone call, that might entail bad news, being my family is the way that they are. Heck, I don't really know why I even give a darn at all, but I guess I do, but still I have given up on all of them, because of the way they have treated me.

    • @aljohn
      @aljohn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment :) I am sorry the phone startled you and to hear of your troubles. I hope crafting gives you some joy in your day :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

    • @melodyengland4439
      @melodyengland4439 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for not getting to upset with me, I was reluctant in sending that message, but I felt that I just had to. But I do like your videos, they do bring me a bit of joy, I have learned a few interesting things as well, so thanks for that. Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday, I used to spend mine with at least one family member years ago, but now I have relocated to Washington state & I'm originally from the New England area. I've been away from my family for many years & have tried thru-out the years to hold our family together in numerous thoughtful ways, but I have finally learned that they just do not want to share in any fun family festivities at all anymore, it really makes me angry, but I'm leaning to accept it I guess, it is what it is. So, I get thru each day or evening, by watching TH-cam, Instagram or Pinterest, it helps me get thru somehow, especially thru the holidays, Oh I really like your homemade clay bead roller from your other video.@@aljohn
