EJ man! I know how you feel, you don’t wanna be behind others because being behind others means you are not first! And if ya ain’t first, yer last. But seriously, stay behind these dudes and save your fat sprint. Just stay behind them! As a sprinter your job is incredibly straightforward and simple. You could probably even go P and not just 1/2 if you can implement this concept. All the love bro, you’re a great guy and we all wanna see you succeed even harder than you already have been!
I think they can be if they aren’t wide enough around the corners. What can make them dangerous is by people dive bombing into narrow corners. But having wider corners decreases the risk. And those in higher categories should know how to handle a bike at speed and not do something stupid.
Im new to watching crit racing and the commentary during the race and identifying what is happening and the strategy tactics being deployed makes it much more enjoyable.
Good job EJ! This is fun to see the progress in race awareness. Cool to see you are doing things strategically now but are still asking Jeff to double check your tactics that is a combination for a ton of success. I am not a very experienced racer and get a lot from these videos so thanks!
I was throwing some bad comments months ago on EJ... but you learned ago. Seems I have to say "Sorry!" now: Sorry! Still lots to learn, but even an amatour like me sees the great progress. Good work!
In a 2/3 crit around the Royal Mint in Winnipeg, Canada back in the mid-90s, a friend and I rode clear of the pack and LAPPED it (two riders can negotiate corners much faster than a pack). I wish that race had been $10/lap. I think we walked away with about $50 each and some swag (water bottles and the usual suspects), but it was fun as hell while being a bit boring!
Jeff and EJ, Love your videos. The guy in black kit #414 was up the road and caught at 6325. He didn't bridge. Your break of 4 was hauling at 30+. Maybe he was hiding in the bushes.... The last 2 bridged across. They must have been flying! But alas, neither of them had anything left for the sprint.
19:24 My coach always told me that if you have cramps on your sides when running, you must continue running until the cramp goes away. Not only will it build stamina, but you'll increase your threshold the next time you run. I think it also applies to biking, esp if you're pushing yourself more than before.
EJ, you could try coughing forcibly if you get side cramps - something I picked up from more experienced runners. It's not 100% but it has worked for me in the past.
If you're not within a foot of someones wheel you have to have a really good reason for it. Also, there is no reason to not be in the top 10 of a field like this. Going to the back and then having to work so hard to get to the front is making it so hard for yourself.
Late to the comments, but EJ’s lack of drafting will improve as he gets more comfortable riding/racing in a pack. This is pretty common for the super strong guys to be riding along side the peloton taking wind.
Never ride the top tube of your carbon bike like the guy at the beginning did - these tubes are not designed to carry forces in this direction, and can crack!
surprised that We never really see EJ directly behind another rider 'inches' - Makes for boring 'Butt' video but , makes for better drafting. 'Q' Wasn't the rider in black being lapped? and what's the rules regarding jumping into a break?
We need EJ to sprint at 2000 watts by the end of the year Jeff! U can do it! EJ on the San Jose Velodrome ⚡👑🏆 Come out to the Drome here in Socal right off the 405 in Carson fer world class wooden surface
i believe he said cramps in his stomach and not his muscles. food poisoning can definitely give you stomach cramps. it's one of the main symptoms. if you took 10 seconds to research you would've found out about it.
@@mbastos1000 I actually don't care about whether he chickened or not lol. I didn't say I believed he had food poisoning. But the cramps are a common symptom.
I just can't watch. He literally still has no idea. Out in the wind, burning matches but not getting anywhere, it's just too much. And you're not doing him any favors by saying that he's improved so much. He hasn't. At all. I really hate being that guy, and I know race tactics take a little while to learn, but staying on a wheel is racing 101. Hell it's group riding 101. So, no more EJ for me.

He just keeps getting this over 1000w seat time in 😅
This is great stuff. Seeing both the mistakes and the successes is provides a great watch for the channel. Keep’em coming!
EJ has endless power dude… amazing pulls - if you get to optimize what Jeff says you will get to the top

If we could just give EJ an earpiece and let Jeff give him instructions while he races!
IMO square crit courses are some of the most dangerous

#414 did get a stack of 10 dollar bills and an upgrade point for his trouble :)

Love the content!
I love this channel

Great video as usual guys!
Food poisoning??? LOL. 1% he really had food posisoning. Most overused excuse.
There's the right way, the wrong way and then there's EJ's way. Great race regardless.
EJ, dude sit in! 😂
EJ is smart like a stick.
this was good
take a shot every time EJ is out in the wind
Magnesium deficiency from food poisoning. BW (lbs) divided by 2.2 = kgBW X 10.6 = daily magnesium. Great content, I’ll see in Chicago.

Jeff- where is your NorCal team racing - haven't seen you post any footage since Golden Gate over a month ago???
Sounds like a stitch cramp on the side I have got em in races brutal🤔🚴

What camera do you use and where is it mounted?

Always stay in the top 15-20 for any crit. Too many crashes too far back and in the 1-2's it's not as easy to move up.
Doing great though EJ

Impulse control is a muscle to be trained not a lesson to be learned.
Everything were wrong
Omg EJ ,get on the f***kng draft man. Frustrating seeing this again and again...
bruh I dont lift my bike by the frame and this dude straight sitting on it lol

I can’t listen to EJ anymore because his ego is blocking the mic.
Jeffy will sort U out EJ💯🏆🎰🤔😄🥇
Lol, EJ needs to back off the power and let his brain get some oxygen.
Some of these blokes need to ride some track and learn how to hold a wheel
Dude going cat2 need to suck wheels not take pulls 😅
Jeff how are your legs today 😘
Lol food poisoning does not give anybody cramps! Come on! Get another excuse for your failure!

I dislike EJ.
Annoying how EJ can't learn his lesson

Cramps is like the brain whipping the muscles, it hurts and it's obviously bad.
