In Canada we had a football team called Edmonton Eskimos. They interviewed real Eskimos to ask if they were offended and 96% said no, but the team changed the name anyway. The powers didn´t care about real Eskimos opinion just the woke.

All my eskimo/inuit friends/ coworkers could of cared less that Edmonton called their football team the Eskimos. They all had bigger issues that they were concerned about . I can't express how much I hated the idea that the Washington Redskins name would be changed to ..... ANYTHING other than the Washington Redskins. It is a historical name with a proud history and a fiercely, reverent and iconic image of the Blackfoot Chief. I have had YT comments censored for using the Washington Redskins name rather than the ridiculous and oppressive name of Washington Commanders. The Hunt Family did not change the Chief's name; They were known as the Dallas Dallas Texans in 1952 when the Hunt family originally bought them. Also, the baseball Atlanta Braves refused to become like the owners of the Cleveland Indians, who buckled to the Woke owners, and changed their name to the Cleveland Guardians. I've been making this point for years now!! Not to mention the name commanders is absolutely terrible! I was a skins fan for 48 years, until they changed the name. To make matters worse, the football hall of fame changed all the skins jerseys to commanders. So players like Riggans etc.. names are on commander jerseys.

Everyone knows the name isn’t derogatory and every Native American poll before the name change all concurred that 96% did not have a problem with the name. I find it rather ironic and silly that the groups suing now never stepped up to the plate to protect the name against those woke groups. I’m also surprised the NAGA never counter sued those woke groups over the last 40+ years for smearing the Redskin name. Smh. Although I wish Washington would go back to the Redskins name. The name Commanders is stupid and fans did not even consider or want that name. It’s a bad memory of the former ownership that needs to be cleansed.

The name was finally changed during the George Floyd protests when multiple corporations were targeting the team. Amazon, Target and Wal-Mart removed the team's merchandise from their product line.
