    Whoever gave this a thumbs down is lame. Every single lore video Rocket does is great.
    Only couple hundred Assasins were made?

      It's just a troll who is trying to get a reaction, not like 1 dislike means anything anyway.
      Yep the Assassin was a limited run 'mech but so are things like Atlas and King Crabs. MWO gives the impression these things were in huge numbers when the reality is that a majority of battlemechs are pieced back together many times over centuries and some machines have seen literal centuries of combat through numerous owners. Some battlemechs are family heirlooms.

      On the one hand, I wish there was some way of simulating this rarity, but on the other hand, I can understand the frustration of someone who just "loves" that chassis and wants to play it, if it's met its quota and is blocked from them, for some reason. So the ASN-101 has leg-mounted energy hardpoints? :D I wonder why PGI didn't incorporate those. :D

      But only 3 ASN-101's exist, yet you'll see 4 of them in a scouting match. Or the hero 'mechs, for example: technically those are one-off customizations of a specific 'mechwarrior, and yet you'll see three Boar's Head's in a single match.

      c182SkylaneRG That's pretty neat. Yeah if MWO implemented that only so many mechs were available everyone would be piloting Hunchbacks or something. I'm not sure which mechs were produced the most.

      My impression is that battlemechs in general weren't all that common. Most wars were fought with conventional air and ground forces, and you'd be lucky to see a dozen 'mechs on either side during any particular battle. They were also so valuable and so expensive to repair and maintain that they wouldn't take much damage before leaving the battlefield: kinda size up the opposition and decide ahead of time if they were worth fighting. Atlases had the effect of not actually winning by combat, most of the time. They scared the opposition off the battlefield simply by showing up.

    I like how the credits on this one are around the same length as the video. But seriously awesome series.

      Sadly the amount of text in the book is so thin, despite the pretty interesting background premise it has.

    Only in the Battletech universe could something of this height and size be able to "sneak" behind enemy lines. (footprints)

      Battle of the Bulge. An entire Panzer division snuck upon the allies. =)

      @@SQW0 Well that had more to do with good preparation and the Allies believe it the Germans were about to be knocked out. Not to mention taking advantage of the weather which did not allow for recon flights.

    Assassin pilots are known for keeping their cockpit windshields cracked or even fully open when not actively engaged so as to keep things cool. This has actually been the downfall of some mechwarriors, who were exposed to shockwaves and toxic fumes when caught by surprise (the ventilation system is not great and fails spectacularly when trying to clear toxins from inside the cockpit). No one wants to draw an assassin for duty in a vacuum, as the closed cockpit rapidly becomes unpleasant.

    just curios would you do lore variants not in the game for the variant series like ones that could be made but not bought

    • @CriticalRocket
      @CriticalRocket  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If there is information available about variants in the book I can add them sometime. Eventually I will start covering 'mechs not in MWO.
