This is straight up Southern Rock. It weaves country, blues, and jazz all together in one wonderful tapestry. And those harmonies are awesome. Love TMTB, the most underrated Southern Rock Band and yet they are in the top three- Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, the Allman Brothers!
Toy Caldwell was a marine that served in the Vietnam War back in the 60s. Who wrote the song after he seen numerous Brothers in Arms received Dear John letters from their girls at home and wrote this song as a tribute to them
The singer is the late Toy Caldwell , RIP my brother. He was a Viet Nam War combat veteran that received the Purple Heart. Before he passed, Toy and Greg Allman (Allman Bothers Band) did a song together called "Midnight Promises" and it's worth a listen.
This is one of the songs I recorded off the radio on my little cassette player/recorder in the early 70s. I played over and over again. Music of my youth!
That’s awesome! When I was a kid I recorded this song on my ipod cause my Dad was playing it on the radio and I loved it. I’m 21 now and have loved this group ever since!
Although we can listen to any song at any time and it sounds great, I'm not sorry for those times. I remember calling in a request and waiting for it, then hitting record. 😆❤️✌️
This song was inspired when he was serving in Vietnam and watching his fellow GI’s getting their hearts broken by Dear John letters from their girlfriends or wives
This is an amazing song and I'm glad you took to it so readily. If there's a part of you that feels at home with 70s Southern rock, well, I'm right there with you. The chord progression used over and over is "D-C-G-D". It lends itself nicely to a lot of rock. If you have a chance, listen to the Eagles "Seven Bridges Road", another example of D-C-G-D, with exquisite harmonies.
Maybe you were there in a former life. You have good taste, that's for sure. Music from that time sure touches the heart. Pure talent. Try some CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) I Put a Spell On You and I Heard It Through The Grapevine. They will blow your socks off!
MTB is Southern Rock, but they season it with a touch of jazz. I really like this song and their other radio friendly songs, but where these guys excel is in just pure jamming and this where you often hear the jazz influence. Try this jam and then you will be ready for the grand finale. They are considered one of the top 3 Southern Rock bands along with The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. th-cam.com/video/fxaZpmaE4dk/w-d-xo.html
You should watch Beth hart with Joe bonamassa - really anything live from the two is amazing . I’d rather go blind is verrrry popular. It’s one of those give you goosebumps type covers

Yep. The best.
It's Southern Rock.
That was great 😃👍
Love your reaction. You would have loved the 70 s. If I had a time machine, I would take you back and show you around.😊
One of the great Bands, right up there with the Stones, IN MY OWN WAY, CHANGE IS GONNA COME, TELL IT TO THE DEVIL.
Great reaction to a great band

Well I Heard It In A Love Song (can't be wrong)
Again, I say, back when musicians were real musicians, and played instruments. Real music is on life support, it seems. These guys were great.
Southern Rock.
That being said, this is The Grand ole Opry.
Nice reaction. Enjoyed it very much. Great band and song, but not considered country by our generation. Still rock.
Love it! if you want to hear another MTB tune try "Desert Skies"
Great Southern Rock Band - with a country flair. Try a song about Chicago : Windy City Blues
You should check out “Heard It In A Love Song” next.

Please, keep the classics coming. 👍🏾
I got to see them at Harrah's Lake Tahoe just before the world ended and they killed.
Needless to say, they're/we're a lot older now.

No. We are gonna be hearing this. Congrats on your first time.
So are we moving out or no?
Minglwood Band does a good cover, studio version, Toy Caldwell of marshall Tucker supposedly said it was better than their own, check it out
Haven't heard the name Matt Minglewood in a long time.
@@edwardlongshanks827 saw him around 15 times, great entertainer, one of Canada's best, just to little known
