I have a faux leather jacket doing the exact same peeling thing.. and I've been searching for a tutorial to cover it for days. Thank you so much for this!
Wow madam, you have done a capital job there. I went to a tailor for a jacket and they charged me £50 for this. You are great! Subscribed, commented and impressed!
Tysm. My case is a bit different. I ordered pyramid studs for my jacket but the prongs aren't quite long enough... so my idea is to put the prongs on a thiner peice of fabric then sew that onto my jacket. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to make a template. This video helped me out alot!
Also, it was good fortune to find a piece of faux leather that went with the jacket. It's a bit more challenging to sew this by hand but in this case it was worth it. I wanted the black faux leather look on the collar because it goes best with all my clothes this way.
If a polyurethane or leather material jacket starts to degrade, it peels. It doesn't just peel in one area. It affect overall jacket. Tomorrow or day after tomorrow your jacket gonna peel in sleeves or in trunk areas. This is the only reason I'm not buying such amazing jackets 😕 I'll wear 4 to 5 times in winter and thn what? Next year, it'll degrade. Hence, time to buy a new jacket. Acrylic, woollen, etc coats are better, long lasting and durable.
I hear you.. this is true what you're saying about some faux. I watched this vid to get some inspiration on what to do with a beautiful baseball jacket I have. The pleather is on the sleeves and it's starting to bubble even though I've not worn it many times. I've stopped wearing it because I don't want it to tear - I have even thought about injecting glue into the bubbles if I don't get a better solution. On the other hand, I have another lovely faux which I've been wearing regularly (a few times a mth)@for around 4yrs and it's pristine - I think there are different grades to the quality & it's about being able to identify the most durable pleather.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a coat with an itchy collar and I wanted to add a different fabric on the inside of the collar. Been to a bunch of Taylor's and no one wanted to do it. So I'll do it myself let's see how it goes
Thanks for a great video! I found a perfect bit of fabric for it! However, I learned the hard way, I should have pinned it and sewed it by hand. Instead, I used my sewing machine and it came out uneven and had other problems. However, the part I screwed up on is hidden when I wear it. I like my jacket and don't want to throw it out until it gets really bad, it's starting to peel below the neck. I sewed it by hand at the lapels and it looks great!
I’ve had my faux leather jacket for 4 years and it’s still in great condition. No degrading. It was over 100$ at J.C. Penney’s and so worth it. I might be getting a real leather jacket in the future.
@@zyzmal2004 im sure it does crack but that’s probably if you wear it every day. I don’t wear mine every day and that’s probably why it lasted me so long. I still wear it though.
@@zyzmal2004 I wear it during winter. For thinner ones you can wear them when it’s cool or at night. Maybe the particular jacket you got isn’t for you.
Hi, in Amazon l found some faux or vinyl leather repair products. l'm considering to try one of them; which is a sticker type & just cut in a shape & stick it over onto the repair area. They have many colours. My jacket has torn & peeled around on the arm attachment area. Hope it'll work !
This is a great video. Gave me some ideas to try and save my pv jacket I bought around Halloween. Love it but my daughter roughed up one of the sleeves by accident :-/
Thank you for sharing. Totally enjoyed your huge piece of AWESOMENESS video. Very useful info. I know at one point or another I will definately be using this info. 🌿🌹🌿
Hi. Where can I get the mold of a leather jacket just like yours? I ask you this because I have to do the same you are doing on this video but on the sleeves which are scuffing. Hope you can help me. Thank you in advance.
ModelingIzMyPassioN that's ok but faux leather does not seem to last very long, cracks quickly and has a plastic smell. not much cheaper then real leather, better of saving for a real leather jacket and that will last you a life time. each to their own I guess :)
jah vaults that much is known, and you also have those ppl that are into animal rights and prefer the vegan material. And if so, such videos are helpful. But yeah, to each his own!

Thanks for the inspiration and demonstrations. It came out rather nice👍
Very well explained, well done! this is exactly what I was looking for :)

What if my collar need fixing in both sides? Should I do the same process, or do you recommend something different? Thanks for the video!!!
Yours looks so good
Great work😁, but i can say this is specifically the reason why I never buy faux leather and always go for real leather.

Does faux leather will crack and pilled overtime?

I have a jacket whose both sleeves are leather and both are flaking how to refurbish it?
Mine have studs on the collar and i don't want them to hide away under the cloth
Excelente, por dentro muy bien, pero cuando el daño es por la parte exterior de la chaqueta, cómo se repara.
llego tarde para la respuesta pero lo mejor son parches!
Luckily I’ve got a pillow case that would match mine.
Pura jacket ka lather kharab ho gaya he . Par bahot hi garam jacket he . Use kese prepare kare
Et pour laver le col en tissu quand il est sale comment fait on
I'm following your tutorial, which is great, but my "leather" jacket is too thick to finish it by hand so I'm going to have to sew it all 😣
Nice Work ! Very clear and precise :)
Nice work Done ,

Wow....what a great work you made.... congratulations! 👏👏👏😉
Going to get faux fur shearling for inside next.
my faux leather jacket is something similar condition, but it's all over the jacket. Is there any ways to use it still? any diy?

I ripped the leather off and exposed the suede underneath.
Is it imposible to do a full jacket? I really love mine and it would be such a waste to get rid of it ;_; great vid!

my hasbend jackets like this
should buy real leather , pu jackets don't last and don't even come close
Some people wear them to clubs (or events) where they don't trust coat check with their real leather. ;)
That or not everyone can afford real leather coats or boots, etc
