Of the many examples of backing I have watched, yours is by far the best. You clearly explain what you are doing. Thank you so much for sharing this it has really helped me a lot.
my test is tomorrow on a rental, 2,000 dollars and alley dock has kicked my butt so far on the one day i had to practice.....watching this hoping to gain some last minute insight
Tank you sir, to help me passed my parking test. Specially, the technic you utilized for the offset maneuver while you count "one to five". Thank you one more time 👍🏿 i wish i could leave more thumbs up but you still have it in my heart❤💙 Thank you!
Dude, same here! 😔 I hope you passed. Did the video help you? Do you have any advice for me? I’m stressing out so much about the 90. It's beyond frustrating to see almost everyone else get it, but I can't seem to execute the maneuver.
@@teonmccoy633 I finally conquered the 90 after getting a good feel for maneuvering my trailer and how to fix my mistakes when I don't perfectly nail the maneuver in one shot. Learn how your trailer moves and how to correct your mistakes, and you will pass. And have faith in yourself! My initial problem was following my instructor's bogus directions to a tee. His method wasn't honest or accurate. So, for a few weeks, I repeated the same bs method thinking there was something wrong with me without learning how to maneuver my trailer; I lost so much confidence in myself and grew frustrated! I practiced learning how to handle my trailer A LOT during the weekend course with a different instructor and finally mastered the maneuver. Now the 90 is my favorite maneuver. I passed my test on the first attempt and had to do the 90 on a course with gravel. My trailer moved so much faster on that course, but because I learned how to maneuver my trailer so well, I was able to complete the maneuver successfully. So many students have failed to do the 90 at that test site because of the gravel. I was pretty proud of myself for passing.
@@teonmccoy633 I like this Gentleman's teaching method, but I also like the youtube channel “My Trucking Skills.” I found the app “My Trucking Skills-The App” helpful in learning how to maneuver my trailer.
@@ShantiD575 congrats man. I'm thinking of getting into this as a new career. Is there any advice you would give someone like me that has NEVER driven in this type of capacity? I've looked into companies like CR England (companies that pay for CDL training) but they sell you on a 17 day training class which seems awfully compressed for a beginner like myself.
I practiced straight back a lil Friday!! I wish I seen ur video b4 then. This is my 2nd week of trucking school & I haven't been able to do anything practicing because of weather. It's dirt where we practice & it sucks that I can't do anything🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ I will continue watching ur videos bc when it's time I want to pass my cdl test on the first try🙂🙃
You are cool Mister! I like how you show us, tell us and not just show the ordeal occurring like so many videos...leaving us wondering with what to do...
our alley dock course at the school im attending is much smaller. The hole you gotta get into starts at the bottom of the 4th yellow line. You barely have any room to turn your truck around. They say its the 72 feet from the entrance of the cones to the top.... means i gotta make a much tighter turn
He has a good feel for the trailer and truck. I would need to keep a strict maneuver referencing my landing gear to low when to straighten out, and get out and check at least twice.
You make it look easy.. have had my class b for 7 years now and I have my class a learners trying to get the class a for work. Can't bring myself to schedule to skills test due to being afraid of failing..lol 😆
Something i want to tell is that every truck is different on how much you can steer. Also it depends on the space you have.there are many ways how to park that why see your mirrors and the space given to you.
I didnt start alley dock but i nailed straight back first day but im stuck like chuk on offset i kinda wish u described it more , i see what your doing but it seem more like u just did it using the skill u learned over the years in the truck instead of explaining the moves
Unfortunately for me the boundary line at my test site is literally the top yellow line in the offset lane. It is so tight that it demands 2 free pull ups and an extra and you only have about 10 to 15 feet to pull up to get the alignment right to back into the box. I know this because I have done it 30 or 40 times practicing and it is the same every single time. Additionally the cones at our test site are placed inside the white lines reducing the inside width by over 1 ft. Fail rate for the tester on 90 degree back maneuver is over 60%. I do not understand why the area is so small but it is what it is.
Great Presentation . thank you.!!I I have been out of the trucks since 2010. have 16 years OTR and 2 years local hauling..... Do you think I could still do all these parking/backing ??? In other words would it be like riding a bicylcle again . I wonder if i could do this without any problems. thinking about getting my cdl A again . age here is 75 now. I live in Illinois.. thank you sir ....73, wa9neu ( E) License
At counter 0:18 You might should have said something like: "While looking in the mirror, when the truck goes left, turn it just a little to left, then when the truck goes right, then edge it right, some." And then you might could have brought in with how you should do it just slightly, just a tad, and then the viewer would then know how to back strait.

Maybe ask that they " re measure " that area ?

very nice presentation sir.
Best explanation ever 😎
Is it not ok to stick your head out the window and look behind while backing up?.
Top tier skill 👌
Alley docking like that , you might hit another truck. Also you need reference points on where you need to break the trailer and where to catch it.
He's showing you how to pass a test.. Not how to park in a truck stop..
@@miomine3527 exactly loll
so what reference points are?

the alley dock was a strange method i will try that way next time but with alley there different ways of doing just don't know which works for me

Show backing in tight spots like old truck stops when we had 42' trailers
I love you video sir very calm and simple.
Thanks for help sir..
Thank you
I thought I saw an encroachment on the right side during the 90 alley dock.
is a student allowed to stick his head out the window while taking a backing test?
Thank you!
No one never say keep your feet on the break to control your speed this the most important so you can caught any driver.
2nd video, at the begining, saying steer tire, after that....WHAT DOES HE SAY ???
My question is are u allow to turn ur face to the back while you are backing
On the 90 you quit talking and explaining the steering wheel turns?
Shana Campbell he’s not giving real tips.
Bullshit video, there is a massive boundary for him to even do it. It's not that large for testing.
Thanks
Hi is it allowed to look over your shoulder while doing the exam? Or will that take points from you

👍❤️👍❤️👍light bulb moment for me!!!
Is it an automatic fail if you don't have both hands on the steering wheel..?
Sounds good!
Fucking legend
How far does the rear of the trailer has to be past the cones to begin the alley dock?
About 12 feet
@@moutaim and any idea how far the front line is from the first cone in the offset backing? is that 100 ft???
@@deerefarmer7235 about 100ft is fine.

Is it the same with a shorter trailer or do you have to make certain changes?
Yes, it is the same, but the shorter the trailer the quicker it responds to your inputs.

After looking at mirror, its to late, its before that
Only if aliens would learn from those instructions.
